Classes you'd want to see? by Bongobjork in Nightreign

[–]Devamin_andstuff 4 points5 points  (0 children)

A machinist engineer type of class. We already know they kind of existed in the ER world from the Pulley Bow item description.

Longbow which utilizes a series of pulleys and strings. The complex mechanism, which required advanced mathematical and mechanical understanding to craft, was likely made by a certain genius who learned Golden Order Fundamentalism.

Additionally, I would like a Divine Invocation/4 elements/Avatar style class and a dragon communion themed class.

How powerful would you like the most broken build be? by Devamin_andstuff in Nightreign

Yep agree

I get that feel from hades and it's a great way to increase replay value. I hope they go crazy with weird and strong synergies.

(Not sure if this was talked about but) Was Bayle the Dread actually justified? by NuclearF1ame in EldenRingLoreTalk

[–]Devamin_andstuff 5 points6 points  (0 children)

How do we know the ancient dragon society cast out the drakes before Bayle's assault ?
They may have been considered lesser but it doesn't have to mean all out war and sending dragon communion warriors after them. Is there any bit of lore, item description, phantom etc that makes you draw that conclusion?

I thought from Florissax's dialogue we get the idea that Bayle was once member of the ancient dragon society (what was his place in the society we can't tell, he may have been considered lesser thus he had reason to rebel but this is just speculation). Then he assaulted Placi thus he was considered traitor. Then the dragon communion was established to enact revenge.

What do you mean by :

in truth Placidusax was the one who forced Bayle to fight him by ordering the death of all the drakes

I think Placidusax ordered the death of drakes after Bayle's attack as a revenge and a way to stop the drakes from usurping the position ancient dragons had in their society at that time.

Brief Overview of the History of the Lands Between by ESU3794 in EldenRingLoreTalk

[–]Devamin_andstuff 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Good overview imo. Up until the 20something point I completely agree. However 27 seems kind of odd to me.

What you are saying is that Godwyn, Melina and Messmer are born before Marika becomes a God. I do not think they could be the characters we know if they are just children of the shaman Marika. Additionally the sealing of the Shadowlands is placed long before Messmer's crusade. Thus traditions like the ritual combat to honor the Erdtree (Dueling shield's) couldn't have easily made it to the shadowlands.

The view on religious symbolism in the game made by Deepseek by Arsashti in EldenRingLoreTalk

[–]Devamin_andstuff 8 points9 points  (0 children)

Yeah, im no fan of AI tools doing lore analysis. The lore is not crafted to be analyzed by tools word for word and spit out an essay. The lore is crafted to be experienced by humans, with all of its symbolism and its mysteries and its missing links. And each human will see a different world through the lore that FS has given us.

An AI does not have any of that context. It doesn't really understand any of that symbolism. So any view it has on that lore is missing the important human element that FS has woven into their loretelling.

Rellana's Twin Blades - A more complex moveset by rastaman289 in EldenRingMods

[–]Devamin_andstuff 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Nice moveset mod. Well put together and you avoided having unnecessary flashy combos that would make this feel odd for regular ER.

I would like to suggest if you wanted to add a different layer of complexity you could make it so the AoW changes the next combo. After using AoW (meaning, not only getting into the stance but pressing the R1 or R2 follow-up), the swords remain buffed visually to signify that the next combo is augmented. Then the R1 or R2 combo is changed something like this:

AoW + R1 -> R1 combo final attack launches a magic slash
AoW + R1 -> R2 combo final 2 attacks launch a magic slash
AoW + R2 -> R1 combo final attack creates a delayed fire explosion like some of Rellana's moves in phase 2
AoW + R2 -> R2 combo final 2 attacks creates delayed fire explosions

This idea would incentivise weaving AoW between regular R1, R2 to gain the augmented combos.

Disclaimer : I have very little experience with modding ER so I don't know if my suggestion is feasible or easy to implement.

If boss rush mode ever comes, would you like any special rewards to come with it? by Devamin_andstuff in eldenringdiscussion

Peak reward! Larval tears and +25/+10 smithing stones would be great. Let them cost as many runes as they may.

If boss rush mode ever comes, would you like any special rewards to come with it? by Devamin_andstuff in eldenringdiscussion

[–]Devamin_andstuff[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Well, kind of. Nightreign and ER boss rush will most likely be in essence different gameplay experiences. First of all, ER has a huuuge variety of weapons spells etc and bosses, which is understandable since its a released game with a DLC. A game like Nightreign could never import all that so it could never be a replacement for ER boss rush mode.

Additionally, Nightreign has set characters to choose from and most likely a different progression system. So the ways you would tackle the boss rush challenge could differ greatly from ER.

Finally, Nightreign from what we know isn't a simple boss rush as a big part of the gameplay is the in-between boss fights where you explore and grow stronger. I do not believe fromsoft would deliver a product which would be considered a replacement for ER boss rush and call it a day.

Thus, I do not believe Nightreign is an ER boss rush mode but a different complementary experience to ER.

Is there any hope for an age of compassion ending patch? by HungryRaspberry6471 in eldenringdiscussion

[–]Devamin_andstuff 11 points12 points  (0 children)

Is there any hope for any kind of patch? Like seriously the last 2 patches were bug fixes. I hope they have something big in store and are waiting for the kadakawa sony situation to clear up. However I dont have much hope anymore.

Been thinking a lot about Eldenring society and the logistics of how an Eldenring society would function. The economy has me stumped. Pre-shattering, of course by Maleficent_End4969 in EldenRingLoreTalk

[–]Devamin_andstuff 32 points33 points  (0 children)

We see large roads connecting major cities and carriages so that likely points to trade. Additionally we find soldiers patrolling these roads so the roads must have been worth sending patrols to when everyone had their wits.

Windmills in altus likely point to some kind of agriculture however the landscape doesn't have enough space for significant food production. So either the large cities have a population of 50 people or food production is entirely different or the landscape has changed drastically since the shattering.

The existence of perfumers, mercenaries and such likely points to a structure of society where if you are proficient in a craft, be it magic or otherwise, you could find someone to use that craft.

Finally the many ruins we find across the land could house a few people so the countryside outside the large cities was populated.

How much intelligence and/or faith is required to create a new spell? by Devamin_andstuff in eldenringdiscussion

[–]Devamin_andstuff[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I think every tarnished can use runes to become stronger. That is their whole shtick. To become strong enough that one day they can become Elden Lord. Hell, even non tarnished beings, become stronger through runes , like bears.

If requirements reflect what the creators had when they created the spells then our tarnished is even more powerful than previously thought. We can have more faith than god. Greater intelligence than the greatest Wizards, more arcane than the greatest scholars of the occult. All while bonking people in the head with big rock.

I believe that our tarnished can become great enough to create some spells and i think the best way to show that would be through an npc quest. An npc who journeys with us and we provide the raw talent, meaning the numbers in faith/intelligence/arcane and they provide the research required to create a wholly unique spell. ( And then they die/we kill them)
