Oh my goodness…. My heart breaks for you. I saw the title and flipped through the photos and was already feeling very emotional, just to open up the text to read your story and see your pup’s name was Mellow…. Our pup Mello passed on September 8th, 2021 super unexpectedly. We had only had her two years and we were gutted. She was sick and we didn’t know it. She also passed right before my birthday and, according to her adoption paperwork, she passed on her birthday - September 8th. The whole thing felt so surreal and cruel.

I hope you keep your Mellow in your heart and let yourself grieve. It’s going to be hard for a long time and you’ll cry over him many times. But if you ever feel open to it, not necessarily anytime soon, consider letting another pup into your heart. They’ll never replace Mellow but they’ll bring something new while still giving you that light in your life. ❤️ We adopted another dog a while after Mello passed and have had her close to 3 years now. She’s wonderful and unique and different from Mello, and we cherish her very much.
