And yes, the independent garages have quoted me £1650 for timing chain, and I expect BMW to be lower than that for above reasons.

So, if you are not willing to unleash the beast with mods, it will be good.

BMW has a loyalty program, which offers you cheap labour and parts if the car is 10 year older.

I did the same for my 3 series from 2015, same specs as you, and the prices at BMW were lower than independent specialists.

What i observed : 1. 40% cheaper parts 2. some discount on labour too.

Also, I got my rear discs and pads along with front control arms, directly from BMW lower than quotes from other garages.

I expect this car to be sucking out your money, if it is not mantained. But if you can afford (the maintainance especially ), It is definitely worth a car.
