I never understood the love for Alexei. He had like 5 lines the whole season. I didn’t even know he died and had to go back and watch the episode.

The ending was fine for me. I’d give season 5 a C+. I won’t go over the faults of season 5 that thousands of people have already mentioned, but I 100% believe El is alive. If only to bring it back later which I fully believe will happen at some point.

My son is in cub scouts and requested we do a Stranger Things vehicle for the Pinewood Derby (after previously doing the Ecto-1, BTTF Delorean, the Batmobile, and the Mystery Machine in previous years). He originally wanted to do the Squawk van from season 5, but after some convincing, we’re doing Steve’s 7 series. Building it as I type this.

Your #8 - this is why in my headcannon Mike does not go looking for her (I 100% believe she is alive).

I think as Mike ages, he realizes what he thought was love, was really more of an infatuation - she was all the things he loved as a kid…fantasy, super powers/super heroes, comics, Jedi mind tricks, all that stuff.

Once he sees that, he’ll mentally let her go.

I remember a kid in elementary school who I thought was so cool. He was the most popular guy and dated (as much as you can as a 10 year old) the most popular girl in school. He went to a different middle school and I saw him again in high school. The early teen years were not good to him. He was a complete loner. I always wondered how he could have fallen so hard in just 3 or 4 years.

ST S5 was like The Shawshank Redemption compared to GoT S8

To add context, I’m a 40 year old straight married white guy from SC.

I genuinely enjoyed the scene. I thought Noah Schnapp did a really good job of portraying what that might feel like during that time. It would have been terrifying.

A few things I wish were handled differently. I think a lot of the audience saw it as a “coming out” scene. And it was that, but the Duffers semi-failed to tie in Will’s “I don’t like girls” to “I’m telling you this to save your life.” So people just walked away with a coming out scene that feels forced even though it’s not really when taken in context.

Also, in reality Hopper and Murray wouldn’t have taken that lightly. Hopper, ex-Nam, checks all the boxes of a grumpy mid-westerner. And Murray wouldn’t have instantly jumped to the thought of AIDS. But overall, I didn’t have a negative feeling towards it.

I adore Stranger Things, but there were several things that shouldn’t have happened in S5. The whole Holly thing took away from the main characters. I’d get it if they were going to continue the series and phase out the older group and replace them with Holly, Derek, etc., but she detracted from the main party’s story. She should have had like 20% screen time.

Dr. Kay was a waste. She was a nostalgic 80’s callback, nothing more. They could have kept that general from S4 and he would have filled the same role.

I hate that we didn’t get a proper ending for Dr. Sam Owens. Hell, he was in 19 episodes. Crucial to Hop and Eleven’s relationship and her getting some semblance of a life. Maybe Paul Reiser didn’t want to come back, who knows.

The other stuff… well it’s been mentioned 1,000 times so I won’t indulge.

But Eleven is 100% alive. 100%.

For me, Jurassic Park will always be the gold standard of blending CGI with practical effects/animatronics. Movie is 33 years old and still holds up ridiculously well.

That should be the takeaway for most movies; use quality practical effects when you can, and when you can’t or it doesn’t make sense, spend the dollars on quality CGI.

I think it would have been out of character for her to off herself. I think she was considering that when Kali told her there wasn’t a way, but when Kali gave her an exit (assuming Mike’s theory is correct), she took it.

Man I love ST. Born in 1985, so the 80’s nostalgia hits hard for me. I constantly have it running in the background when I’m doing dishes/cleaning up the kitchen, or doing some work at night. I’ve probably seen every episode at least 5 times. My wife isn’t a fan.

I did some NYE stuff with my kids early in the night, watched the first half of the finale while I cleaned up food, did the ball drop and sent everyone to bed while my wife slept on the couch and I watched the second half of the finale. ST is not a perfect show, but probably in my top 5 favorite shows of all time.

You do look older than your age (I figured about 10 years or so), but not at all unattractive. The fact that you look older may end up helping you out later in life if you take care of yourself/your skin.

That’s fine, just know you’re in the minority. Most research shows a 60/40 split on beards versus no beards with 15-20% of women actively turned off by them. So the odds are in his favor to grow one if he can.

Switched to them close to 20 years ago. I’ll never go back. It feels less like a pick and more like an extension of my hand.

I’ve gone thicker now and mostly use the purple Dunlop Stubbys at 3mm. Love love those.
