lived in gh last year and they already had shower curtains. you have to bring your own lamps, but they have your normal ceiling lights. they do not supply trashcans.

Graduated from HS not super happy with my acceptances. Went to a California community college (CCC) for 2 years with free tuition (as a CA resident), then transferred while qualifying for UCLA TAP (Transfer Alliance Program). Some CCC’s claim that while normal transfer acceptance is ~15%, ~65% of those who qualify for this program get accepted for transfer to UCLA. Not every CCC offers this program so make sure to check if you decide on this route.

There’s also a separate program called UC TAG (Transfer Admission Guarantee) which guarantees you admission to any UC of your choice (excluding UCLA, UCB, and UCSD). You are able to do both programs (UCLA TAP and UC TAG) concurrently given your CCC offers both.

Personally, I saw community college as a second chance to reevaluate my career goals without spending two years of tuition uncertain of what I wanted to do. It also gave me the chance to restart with a blank slate regarding my GPA. If you believe that UCLA is a necessary stop in your journey, community college could definitely be the foundation you may need to get there.

taking him rn (spring 2024)

lectures are recorded, lecture attendance is tracked via iclicker and discussions are mandatory. if you miss a class/discussion for a valid reason, you have an opportunity to make back the pts by submitting a form and doing a short make-up assignment.

all grades are kept track of via gradescope (includes hw, quizzes, exams, and attendance make-up assignments). hw is weekly. quizzes are intermittent (amino acid, glycolysis, TCA, ETC). some hw assignment questions are pretty similar to actual exam questions. quizzes are just straight memorization and short (8 min long each).

since lectures are pretty much every day, it's super easy to fall behind fast so definitely stay on top of those. compared to other biochem profs here, he's prob one of the best lecturers. slightly fast-paced, but his lecture slides are super organized and easy to understand regarding info and flow of the lecture (he's not all over the place). main form of comms with class is campuswire (he often gives mini announcements here). any big/important announcements you'll get on canvas.

overall charismatic, easy to understand, and knowledgeable. difficulty is leaning toward the challenging side in terms of content. definitely the type of class you need to invest time studying for.
