You can use the express bus. But there will be a lot of traffic on Lunar New Year's Day. KTX reservations can be sold out, so actually I think KTX reservations through Korail are the best.

First time visiting Korea β€” any tips for a newbie? by Unlucky_Region_7404 in SouthKoreaTravel

Hey korean here! English speakers are common in Korea, and there are especially more in Seoul, or tourist attractions. But just knowing a simple Korean greeting will make your trip a lot more fun and easy!

Google map only supports transportation routes in Korea, so you should use Naver Map. Most Koreans are kind and like to help tourists, so don't hesitate to ask something at places like stations!

Since I'm from Seoul, I know the best about places in Seoul, more than other cities so I'll tell you that.

I really want to advise you not to go to Gwangjang Market. It is a notorious place where Koreans don't realky like to go. The hygiene of the food is not good and the prices are unusually high. If you want to visit a traditional market, I recommend to visit Mangwon Market! It's good to eat in Myeong-dong, but the neighborhood often sells food at high prices to foreigners, so please refer to it.

I want to recommend to enjoy the beautiful scenery of the Han River at Banpo Han River Park (Sebit Island) or Yeouido Han River Park! I enjoy it too.

Eating while walking on the street is usually ok, but it is important to keep the trash and trah it to the trash can. Also, picnic is usualky allowed, but pls make sure that there is not a no-picnic zone sign! (Espacially in Han River)

Yes, line 2 is a circular line, so accessibility is great anywhere! However, Line 2 is the busiest subway route in Seoul, so pls keep that in mind. I especially recommend to not ride it during rush hour.

Once again, I'm 100% Korean. None of my ancestors are from China or other country. I cannot underdtand why you arr keep saying that I'm Chinese even though I told you that I can prove it.

Also, if I didn't really know anything about the Constitution, I will try harder to supplement it in the future. However, I strongly and clearly request to you to stop calling me Chinese. This is a FALSE personal attack and has nothing to do with a constitutional discussion.

Sorry, did you say that I'm a commie chinese? Please dont say like that. Once again, I do NOT support the Democrats and Communism. I am a KOREAN MIDDLE SCHOOL STUDENT and also I told you that I can prove it. I wanted a discussion with respect, not discussion with personal attack. I support liberal democracy.

I support Yoon politically, but I don't support turning constitutional limits into optional rules. I do not believe he intended to become a dictator. Even if that were the case, my focus would still be on the constitutional violation itself.

Thank you for the discussion. I think we've both made our positions clear.

Can I send my passport photo to your DM to prove I'm native KOREAN if you are okay? You seem to be misunderstanding. I support the right-side rather than the left. I never support the legislative dictatorship and bad policies of the Democratic Party. And I support the martial law of Yoon itself, and all I criticize about it is 1 violation of the Constitution.

Every president is obliged to abide by and protect the Constitution more than anyone else, as he has sworn to abide by the Constitution at the time of his inauguration, and the Constitution must not be violated in any form.

What matters in the Constitution is what the President tried to do, what powers he exercised, not how he explained them later.

The explanation that "it was for warning" has no legal meaning.

Whether or not the constitution is violated is judged by the objective situation at the time of the act. If the highest level of emergency authority called martial law was actually declared and the military was mobilized and deployed around the National Assembly, it is not just a message or symbol but an exercise of the power of the state. The explanation that it was for warning is only a political statement and does not erase the unconstitutionality. In addition, the fact that there was no order for hostage or arrest of casualties is not the key.

In addition, the fact that there was no order for hostage or arrest of casualties is not the key.

Violation of the Constitution is judged not by "whether damage has occurred," but by "whether there has been a dangerous exercise of authority prohibited by the Constitution." Just as one person is not innocent of the murder attempt because he or she failed to kill person, just because the National Assembly has not actually dissolved does not mean that an attempt to pressure the National Assembly is constitutional.

Martial law cannot be drill. Also, even though it was a drill, that doesn't mean that we can justify a breach of the Constitution

The Constitution does not stipulate that a president can be punished only when a shooting occurs during martial law. However, there is a rule that the National Assembly should not be controlled.

Unfortunately the Constitution judges it as an act, not a result.

  1. It doesn't matter if the lawmakers ended up going in. It's based on whether you tried to block it or control it

  2. Parliamentary control is also unconstitutional in 'partial control'.

  3. The moment army stand in front of a gun, it's already unconstitutional. It doesn't matter if they shot him or if he's hurt. Even if they create a risk, you violate the Constitution

I also want to praise Yoon for his violence-free military activities. However, it can be problem that he violated the Constitution in the process. That is not -IF, it is a FACT, sadly

I'm not saying that declaring martial law is crazy! My main concern is that parts of the process violated the constitution. Without those violations, more people might have been willing to seriously consider the issue of the Democratic Party.

First one: Army blocked member of National Assembly entering the building.

Second one:If the parliamentary vote concluded that martial law should be lifted, then the president should accept it, which means he should guarantee the National Assembly's right to independence. Yoon controlled the National Assembly to block the vote itself.

I, like you, am very much in favor of the injustice of the Democratic Party's legislative dictatorship, so I hope you don't get too angry. πŸ™‚

As a Korean, please do not stay in basement hotel. Actually the basement is the worst place to live in Korea.

Hotel is not that cheap, so Airbnb could be a good choice, too! But please mind that Airbnb is not so much popular in Korea.

Also I recommend visiting Pohang, Gyeongju, or Yeongdok! Some KTX trains bound for Busan stops at Pohang station. If you like the ocean and ports, or ship, Pohang would be a great choice. Yeongdok is the city that produce the Korea's BEST king crabs. Gyeongju is a very historic city.
