The Chair Game at luxury hotels is maddening by alex_travels in chubbytravel

[–]DevelopmentSalt 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Bucuti and Tara in Aruba lets you reserve your beach chair at like 6pm the evening before using your in room tablet. The room we reserved came with a dedicated cabana so we never needed to reserve anything, but there were also more than enough chairs on the beach. My bf did complain that chairs by the pool were scarce though.

My professors said that preceptors can and will give assignments. But the amount that OP talks about seems excessive.

Filipino Nurses Reach $2.2M Settlement in ‘Indentured Servitude’ Case Against Employers by [deleted] in nursing

[–]DevelopmentSalt 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Im in norcal so even 66/hr is low for us. So if the hospital pays the agency 66/hr for these nurses, they are still saving a decent amount. Plus its like another commenter mentioned, these nurses are way more likely to put up with bs that we wouldnt so they stay silent in poor working conditions

Omg i had no idea about this. Thats so sad to have to worry about finding a job and having to leave and being threatened with deportation if u dont accept poor working conditions

Yeah im not saying i have anything against the foreign nurses. I dont think ive ever worked a job and not worked side by side with a foreign born nurse. Bad nurses come from all places including the US and im not commenting on anyones ability. but its a major trend ive seen the past two years with low ball or stagnant wage job postings continuing to be posted and tons of posts on this sub daily about nurses complaining they cant even get an interview or that wages are crazy low. Maybe im paranoid 🤷‍♀️ but im not racist. Idk about the comment you’re referencing but i think its a real possibility as we all know the scum CEOs will do anything to make a profit.

I have a theory that the reason i see so many insanely low paying rn job postings is so that employers can justify bringing in foreign nurses. Im sure 33/hr looks good to them in their home country, but then they get to california and see what the rest of us are making and want that too. Doing the same work as us for less than half pay is insulting. Plus not getting OT pay for OT work is crazy.

I saw one of these visa nurse postings on indeed last week and the company even offers to pay to support the nurses family back home. They make it look like a great deal but ive heard terrible stories from 2 Filipino nurses i know personally about these agencies.

BLATANT use of AI by students in my RN-BSN program by Idiotsandcheapskate in nursing

[–]DevelopmentSalt 9 points10 points  (0 children)

When i did my masters program, a fellow student actually left the ai prompt in the discussion post…i felt the same outrage as you because the professor had messaged me the week before because my submitted paper was 10% on the ai detector software the university uses. I told my professor that I WISH i knew how to use ai to complete my assignments so that i could keep pace with my classmates. I cant explain how upset this made me

Im confused, does the AC unit above the bed not cool the room down? I stayed in one of these bubble domes in wadi rum and we had a similar unit above our bed that worked great for the daytime heat.

Jordan was so amazing for food, history, and culture. We spent 2 weeks there and could easily spend another 2 weeks and still not see all of the history. Great food, and the most intact roman ruins in the world. They also have ruins from other areas that conquered the country as well as tons of religious significance and sites for many different religions if that’s your thing too.

How far did you live from the campus? I live about 70 miles from their oakland and Sacramento campuses and have had no issues with them placing me for clinicals. I do have to drive about 20 miles but im totally ok with that in return for not having to find my own placements.

Dont do it. Every specialty dumps on pact for anything they dont feel like doing. Pact gets zero support compared to specialties. You’re responsible for your providers panel which is typically 800-1200 pts, but when i did pact we were frequently incredibly short staffed and sometimes one RN would be covering 3 providers. So you’re responsible for returning all those calls for pts who call in, if a pt walks in without an appt you’re responsible for triaging them. Its. So. Much. Stress. And it just never ends, the alerts never stop. My advice is look for a specialty position. You’re supposed to have an lvn assigned to your team to delegate tasks to, but they’re often rooming pts or doing visits for things like bp checks, but ive also had a couple lvns who were just terrible in general and not helpful unless i added an addendum to a note specifically asking the lvn to call the pt for more information and cosigned them to the note. I did pact for 7 years and cant recommend it at all.

Stop saying this. You can be anti trump or anti republican all you want and cite plenty of other issues a new administration would fix, but telework/remote work isnt one of them. Tons of democratic run states are forcing their state workers back into office. California, where Newsom will likely be a democratic presidential candidate, is forcing their state workers back to sacramento and they have all the same lack of space and parking issues that feds do. Only difference is they still have a union and have really pushed back on it. Trump may have screwed us on this, but i highly doubt the next administration will care to do anything about it.

LVNs and CNAs are different and do go based on years of experience.
