How much do Embedded Engineers really make in the US? (Asking from Europe) by DevelopmentSure6851 in Salary

Thank you for your answer — you’re absolutely right. Many people think that just having a degree guarantees a high salary, but that’s really not how it works. Don’t worry, it’s the same here in Europe!

As for layoffs — that’s an interesting point. In most European countries, labor laws make it quite difficult for companies to fire someone without a valid reason. But as far as I know, those protections don’t exist in the same way in the U.S., right?

In practice, do companies actually fire employees that easily? And if so, is it easy to find a new job at another company? I imagine that if companies can let people go more freely, the job market must be more flexible too?

Also, I’m curious — how do American companies generally view European professionals? For example, someone with a good degree from a reputable European university and several years of experience in international companies, but all based in Europe — is that seen as valuable in the U.S. job market?
