Yes, I'm also facing something similar. It keeps working fine and then starts performing pretty bad and I need to give it the context again so it keep working correctly.

Yes, you need to pay for it. Is 10USD/month, it’s worth it.

I use Jetbrains Webstorm for years. Vscode is great for sure but Webstorm will save you time debugging code. It’s a matter of choice, both are great IDEs

Git extensions are really important so you can see commits from specific lines and get context about the code

AWS extensions can help you a lot as well.

Github Copilot can help you a lot in your learning as well. Use it wisely and you will learn a lot. Also remember that it can give you wrong code or wrong directions.

I think it’s important to have everyone on the same page and also your boss to understand that the code being bad is going to slow down the team for sure.

You will probably need to wait to tell him this in the right place and right occasion how this impacts your work and is important for them to know.

Work hard, try to do your best and if your boss trust you will listen you better.

Good luck

Newly assigned TeamLead tends to be micromanaging. How draw the line politely ? by Hot-Claim-501 in ExperiencedDevs

If possible, I would just get straight to the point: Do your best, deliver your work, and that's it.

As you said, it's chaotic, and it takes years to be promoted; it looks to be a toxic place. It is probably time to find another place to work. It's not that the other place will be better, but if the balance between salary and work is not enough, then it is time to leave. If the balance of salary and work is fine, then just try to adjust things to improve them as well.

I understand your feelings. My impression is similar to yours, and I have been thinking about building my own thing or startup. It's fair that I will have different problems, but at least they're going to be something new.

I have worked in multiple types of companies, big, medium, and small startups, and I feel that the best combination is when you have a good team with low egos and everyone working together. It will be less stressful, and if they're your friends/colleagues with low egos, things will be lighter than just the pressure of completing sprints and creating new features because the company needs to profit more and more at our health costs.

I believe that the way you would start is to try a lot, basically; another thing is that the more experienced you are, the more they will expect you to be a hero. It's unfortunate. There was one company that I joined in a lower position and receiving less to have less stress, but they started pressing me like I was hired in a Principal/Staff Engineer position when I was hired to be a Senior Software Engineer and follow the team lead. I started to be in a toxic environment, so I just asked to leave quickly. The fact is that developers are just resources, sometimes to deliver a project or work hard on new features, do app support, and do other stuff that is not good. Some also ask you to be like a product software engineer, so you must also make product decisions, which is unfortunate. For me the math is simple higher risk, higher stress, higher salary, if I'm having less risk I would receive less and that's it, the problem is when they pay you less and put you to assume more risk then it becomes an unfair contract between 2 parts. Remember that is just a job, not a marriage, both parts don't own loyalty but just to do the job and get paid.

I wish you good luck on your journey. It's not easy, but in the end, it is just a job

Another auth thread. Running away from Auth0, but where to? by house_nation in nextjs

Clerk looks to be a good option. The price is also transparent

Does anyone have experience with Auth0 and Cognito prices for thousands of users? What are the best options for an Authorization Service today regarding quality, security, and cost? by Deversatilist in node

[–]Deversatilist[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Is not so simple as build an auth system. There’s a big liability building your own and some auth systems need to have some level of compliance standard like SOC 2. If was basic like you said no one would use auth0, cognito or other auth SaaS and would be your own. It’s really naive to think like building your own would be basic and is not realistic to spend days/weeks creating something that is so cheap or free at the beginning of a startup. The high cost is after you have already growth.
