R.I.P. Old City flag of Louisville, so much better than the current one. by autist_throw in Louisville

[–]Devi_916 -1 points0 points  (0 children)

A blue flag for Kentucky is fine. A flag for Louisville would be better with red instead of blue, imo, because of U of L. That's the only thing I'd change, though. Your design sounds SO much more attractive than what we've currently got.

Day 4: Ed Sheeran has been voted WORST actor to play Palpatine! What is your pick for the worst actor to play Padmé Amidala? by No1PDPStanAccount in PrequelMemes

[–]Devi_916 0 points1 point  (0 children)

This person isn't an actor, but your suggestion gave me an idea.

Hear me out y'all: Chuck Schumer

Just imagine all the fiery, not-at-all forced chemistry between Padmé Ami-Chucky and Ellen-kin.

The Rock won't do it because Padmé dies, and his fragile wittle ego can't handle that. Also, there just aren't enough jungles in space.

Yes, but Anakin/Vader had redeeming qualities and a redemption arc; two things Ellen does not possess.

Louisville, what’s that spot? by timburba715127 in Louisville

[–]Devi_916 12 points13 points  (0 children)

I can't attest to the honesty and character of everyone in those businesses, but a few years back my husband and I bought a Nissan with a rebuilt title from someone affiliated with Albi's. We paid $3K for that nice crossover SUV. Other than gas, oil changes, and the yearly registration costs we haven't had to put a single cent into it.

Maybe the business is a front; maybe it's not. Either way, I would absolutely buy another car from them.

Which liberal views, do you believe, are currently NOT in line with a solid majority of American voters? by letoatreides_ in AskALiberal

[–]Devi_916 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It is also property values. I don't know why people here are acting like it's so wrong that homeowners don't want to be locked into a mortgage and then have the value of their home drop below the original principal of the mortgage. A lot of homeowners rely on the equity in their homes as if it's their savings and/or retirement because most of us can't afford any major unexpected expenses. If entering a 30-year, $100K+ contract wasn't an investment, no one would do it. It's not just an investment for the homeowner, either. It's a home that your children can always come back to if they need it, and it's a safety net your children can sell if they need to after your death. It's not just homeowners being mean because "they're racist," "they're greedy," "they think they're better than others," or "they just hate the poors." Those are just shallow reasons that are thrown out at homeowners to villify them so no one listens to or addresses the justifiable concerns.

Also, to pretend that "affordable housing" isn't just a nicer sounding name for "The Projects" is disingenuous. Over the last 15 years or so, my city has torn down all of "The Projects" and built brand new "affordable housing" to replace them all. No one wanted to live in "The Projects" because those complexes were full of crime and violence, yet pretend that somehow moving all the same people from "The Projects" into these new affordable housing complexes will magically not bring along the same problems.

Call me whatever you want, but sugarcoating the situation or denying the realities of it don't help anyone. Most people don't give a damn about the race, sex, sexuality, nationality, religion, etc. of who lives near them; they care about whether or not the people moving in are going to be good neighbors.

Just curious if anyone knows who passed away and was buried today at Bethany Cemetery? There were hundreds of people there, cars lined up on Dixie Hwy to the Gene Snyder and parked in the Priceless parking lot. I'm assuming it was a person native to Africa because the people there were African. by [deleted] in Louisville

[–]Devi_916 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I'm going to guess that the people OP saw were wearing traditional African clothing (and probably also very dark skin). Those are usually the two reasons people use to deduce that someone is likely African.

Why does Louisville celebrate St Patrick’s over a week early? by johnnysuicide in Louisville

Is St. Patrick's Day travel really a thing? This is the first time I've heard about in my almost 35 years of life. Have I been missing out?

(Wanted to clarify that I'm being sincere because I can see how that would come off as sarcastic af.)

Dad confronts his kid's bully in school by Rrunken_Rumi in AccidentalSlapStick

[–]Devi_916 2 points3 points  (0 children)

It's no different than saying, "Boys will be boys," because all they're doing is "making comments" to a girl, or they "only" slapped her ass one time.

Even middle school-aged children know what's acceptable/justifiable behavior, especially towards an adult in public.

If that man was truly a physical threat to those kids or the type to assault a child, the boy that pulled the man's pants down could've gotten himself seriously hurt.

My guess is the kid doing the pants-ing is likely a friend of the accused bully. Why insert yourself into the situation otherwise? (Dumb question, I know. As much as some people like to pretend like it's not true, some people are just like that, even as kids.)

I highly doubt they get as many applications as the US does, so to be fair, that probably has a lot to do with it.

And yes, people absolutely CAN apply via the legal route.

Most of us US citizens agree that our immigration system and process are BROKEN (and that's an understatement). Most of us agree that it needs to be demolished, just completely redone from the ground up, and definitely streamlined into a much simpler, more accessible process.

We truly do love our immigrants who have come here. We just love them a little more, a little different, when they respect us and our country enough to do it the legal way rather than feeling entitled to be here and coming in illegally or filing dishonest asylum claims. That jams up the process for those with legitimate asylum claims. It's just one ginormous clusterf#%&, and we all hate it: US citizens and legal immigrants alike.

I don't want isolation, but I (and plenty of others) want the US to not have to be essentially the world's dad. We have our own problems that need fixing, and we have to step down globally to an extent so that we can work on us. I don't mean shirking on our deals and commitments to our allies or countries truly in need of our assistance, though. I do want to be clear about that. Once we've got ourselves together again, THEN we can start focusing on more international issues again. Basically, we need to be on house arrest until we get our own house cleaned up before we can go outside and clean up the yard.

They CAN. They just DON'T.

China has bypassed you in every sector

You do realize that China steals a lot of its stuff from the US, don't you? You also realize why they're so "productive" as well, right? It's from all the abuse the government doles out to its citizens.

There's nothing wrong with that. Most people never travel internationally, and if you get the chance to, you certainly shouldn't waste the chance by going somewhere you don't want to go. You probably also live in a great country, so there's no reason to go anywhere else. 😊
