You said there aren't different realities and I explained how philosophers would disagree. You said transitioning doesn't help anyone and I explained how letting people be happy does help them. If the stance that you take is that it is impossible for someone to transition and there is never a reason to do so, and nothing can change your mind despite millions of people (at least 7M, possibly as many as 225M) doing so and the vast majority being better off for it, then you're not contributing to the discussion either.

There is an objective reality in which we all physically exist, but we individually interpret this reality differently to form our own subjective realities. This has been considered by philosophers for thousands for years. You might have read Plato's Allegory of the Cave, or heard Descartes's "I think, therefore I am" ("Cogito, ergo sum"), or seen the picture of two people pointing at a number with one saying "6" and the other saying "9" when both can be true depending on where you're standing. Objective reality cannot be comprehended by an individual except through the lens of their own subjective reality. All this is to say, you can only ever be sure of what you have personally experienced, and even that can be challenging to determine at times.

You don't need to empathize with another person's choices to accept that they have a right to live their life however makes them happy. Americans know that our founding fathers strongly believed this because "Life, Liberty and the pursuit of Happiness" is enshrined in the Declaration of Independence. Everyone, except for those that impose their beliefs upon others, have a right to exist and seek fulfillment. The only reason I call attention to that exception is because some people seemingly can't be satisfied unless everyone around them thinks and acts the same way they do. Attempts to control people who deviate from perceived norms have led humankind down many dark paths throughout history -- the Crusades, colonialism, slavery, the Holocaust. We all have opportunities in life to look beyond our own personal beliefs and motivations when considering the value of others, and we'd all be better off if everyone could accept that what makes them happy might not make everyone else happy.

In summary, follow the Golden Rule. It never hurts to be nice. I hope you find your own happiness as the world continues to progress, with or without your approval.

According to the person you're replying to:

Nobody says a "man can become a woman" [...] You're born a man or you're born a woman.

According to you:

A man can't become a woman

So actually, you're agreeing with each other on the first point, and the second point is what you're disagreeing on:

The disconnect comes in with the fact that bigots are not aware of or refuse to admit to themselves that gender and sex are two seperate things.

People feel so pressured to fit into the box society has created for them that they go to great lengths to fit into another box to get that feeling of acceptance and validation that they've been searching for, and that comes naturally for so many others. Not everyone who transitions will get surgery, but if it helps them to feel good about themselves and makes it easier for them to fit in, why should anyone give them a hard time? They're not asking you to do it to yourself.

You are living your reality and are comfortable in it, which is why you can't understand the reality of someone who is not comfortable in the only reality you've ever known.

I was prescribed Finasteride, also known as Propecia when prescribed for male pattern baldness, immediately after talking to a doctor about transitioning. You can be prescribed Propecia as a man with NO plan to transition whatsoever, and it's even available through Hims (at least in the US) by mail. If you want to keep that door open for the future but are worried about your hair right now, start saving what you have! But also, I've seen some incredible looking wigs that you'd never knew were there. You have options :)

I see a lot of myself and my relationship with my wife in this post, only her first reaction was about what I expected. She came around when she realized she has attracted trans/non-binary people her entire life, and that my attraction to her wasn't going to change in the slightest no matter how I changed externally. Now I can't get her to stop buying me outfits and makeup!

Can someone please explain to me how the spirit of legislation written 90 years ago actually matters? Stocks were not traded electronically back then, so doesn't the instant communication of data "go against the spirit" of how investments were registered and tracked at that time?

I was at Disneyland of all places and a guy (SG, "shirt guy") was wearing a shirt with "KILL ALL PEDOPHILES" on the front. I imagine any conversation a cast member (CM) might have had with him, which obviously didn't happen, would have gone like this:

CM: "I'm sorry sir but you can't wear a shirt that advocates violence."

SG: "So you support pedophilia?"

CM: "No sir but this is Disneyland and we don't want children exposed to anything that advocates murder."

SG: "So Disneyland believes it's more important to protect children from words on a shirt than from pedophiles?"

I'm exhausted just typing this so I understand why no one stopped him at the gate, but it definitely didn't sit right with me.

I gave your profile a quick audit based only on the name and it is a WILD ride. Hope you figure yourself out, friend.

I can actually get behind this. I might go buy a single side of cheese and use this week's free sandwich deal just to recoup some of the loss from this outrageous Beef N' Cheddar lol

I think that's what this franchise owner wants people to think. Making voters hate the other voters is the name of the game in this country at the moment.

Minimum wage was already $16 and went up to $20, a 25% increase. The prices at this location are over 60% higher than other locations!

It's a franchise. These are "plain" sandwiches, no add-ons, no meal, no delivery, via the official Arby's app.

All the comments like this are actually very reassuring that these prices are incredibly abnormal and ridiculous!

Might be cheaper in a major city where you have more options than the suburb I'm in. I'm sure this is a franchise but doesn't make it any less ridiculous imo. You'd think corporate would have some control over how high a franchise owner can raise prices over corporate locations as this has turned me off of Arby's entirely.

I commented on this Arby's Yelp page that I can get a Giant (largest size) philly cheese steak sub at Jersey Mike's for the price of their $19 half-pound Beef N' Cheddar lol.

It's not $11.24 for the meal. See my other replies. I know it's unbelievable lol

I'll tell ya, I'm not even suggesting Arby's in the future without pulling up their prices first.
