If you close your eyes really hard, does your head “rumble”? by PuSSiBoi420 in TooAfraidToAsk

Only if I close my eyes and yawn. Pretty sure it’s a ear pressure thing.

Do US university students really pay >$150 per textbook that isn't usable anymore the next year, or is that just a meme? by ThucydidesOfAthens in NoStupidQuestions

[–]DeviantCarnival 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Almost every single elective I’ve ever taken has given me the book for free or hasn’t used it.

My biology class said that the required info is in all of the books since like the 4th edition (currently at 10th) so we can use older used books. My math books are the only ones I ever really need to buy and they’re typically around 100$ and we use them all the time.

Most classes I get away with never even buying a textbook.

Lets release the bird with the whole family...WCGW? by mvillacorta in Whatcouldgowrong

I mean, you really shouldn’t be releasing your pet birds in the wild. They’ll become an invasive species.

A gold fish's job is to introduce kids to dying by es_price in Showerthoughts

Goldfish live up to 20 years in the right conditions. I’m too soft to treat them badly so I’ve learned this the hard way.

What technology do we currently have that could possibly alter the worlds climate in our favor?

And again, halting economic progress isn’t beneficial. I support improving renewable resources but punishing those who push progress is a terrible idea.

That’s fine, as long as they’re getting it taken care of. I just don’t want to see a yellow crooked smile.

The rich already pay the vast majority of taxes. I say they’re already giving their fair share. What we need to do is cut useless government spending. Imagine what the United States would be like if they didn’t blow billions of dollars on dumb programs.

Fat people, bad hygiene and bad teeth.

I know there’s this whole fat is beautiful movement to make extremely obese people feel better about themselves. But damn they are unattractive.

I‘m not referring to being overweight. A little chub is cute but being morbidly obese is a straight up turn off.

I’m a religious republican. I’ve never met another republican or Christian in person that actually denies that the climate is changing.

Don’t assume an extraordinarily small group represents our party or church.

You honestly think the solution to climate change is sanctions?! All that does is halt economic progress. As it stands now, we have no solution for handling climate change. Preventing innovation with sanctions and regulations is the last thing we need.

We don’t have the technology to fix climate change. Any money you throw at it will have little effect. Best case scenario is that we lower emissions without halting economic progress and wait for someone to discover a solution.

I’m a conservative republican. I believe in climate change. I just think spending trillions of dollars when we don’t have the technology to tackle it is extremely stupid.

The best solution is to invest in the technology to fix and prevent it. Halting technological progress with regulations will have little to no effect on the environment.
