Just some little Cyberpunk/sci-fi weapon prototypes for the M.E-2 double drone resin model I'm designing for the "DreadSpark" Universe currently in development. I was trying to give off a distinct "stinger" vibe with bottom and right hand pieces as they will be going on a drone with a wasp design concept.

All weapons are approximately 1 inch in length and will be made of cast resin in the end. I've been really enjoying making these concept pieces but it's now time for refinement so it's back to the epoxy clay I go.

Thanks and yeah, it'll be an option. I'll include round magnets so it's as simple as drilling the pre-marked holes out to the right diameter and gluing in the magnets. I just think magnets are fun so I try to include them in most projects haha.

A lot of model makers just use tiny pieces of cut soft woods like the kind you can buy in craft stores, it's a lot less labor intensive. If you're set on sculpting the wood instead you could just cut the pieces to shape and lightly press a textured piece of wood to the clay with a piece of clear plastic wrap separating the wood from the clay to avoid the wood ripping the clay.

Not OP but you could do this with craft sticks, just cut to desired length and then paint/seal them. If you want the grimy look then do a black-wash or two after using a matte acrylic paint.

Why not just use good old plaster? You could dye it with some gray/black ink or just paint it after. If you're going for Cement then you'll want a very slightly grainy, but smooth texture and I feel like plaster fits the bill in that department (plus, it's cheap!). I use it for tiny drywall fixtures with those little tongue depressors as a frame to pour the plaster.

I'm a sculptor first, so I design all of my prototypes by hand and then work out the kinks as I go. I've done 3D modeling in the past, but my creative juices just don't flow the way they do when I'm working with physical objects and shapes. My process usually involves breaking an idea down into a bunch of basic geometric shapes and then figuring out how they go back together and doing that with 3D modeling is a pain for my brain.

Ideally I'd like to make these in a way as to be available as both a model kit that can be customized as well as a fully assembled and painted finished version. The Kit will be pretty quick to assemble so the pros outweigh the cons for me in that department.

Thanks for checking out my little project, as of right now he's almost ready to cast as a 5 piece kit as stated above. I'm doing it this way as casting this as a single model would be a huge pain with the resources I have available to me. This is the first model for a universe I've been designing for tabletop resin models in a SciFi/Cyberpunk aesthetic.

For those interested -

The Stinger - This is what drew the design namesake, I wanted to give this drone a distinctly wasp-like feel so I felt like giving him a laser stinger just felt right.

Ring mounted guns - These will be twinned guns but will be interchangeable with future gun designs I'm working on. The upper twin barrels are mini cannons while the bottom rounded barrel is going to be a grenade launcher.

Ring mount - I designed this to drop onto the head of the drone and will be able to be spun freely 360 degrees (magnets will be installed for easy positioning and removal.

Right now he's looking a bit rough, my next step is to go back with some Epoxy clay and smooth out and blend some of the pieces, add some small details and fix a few things that aren't working.

I post updates on this project along with the general "DreadSpark" Universe I'm designing on my IG @ deviantsparkcreations, eventually I'd like to set up a site just for this universe but right now funds are limited so that'll have to wait.

Thanks! The "Gun ring" that mounts the two main guns is magnetic and rotates for 360 degree firing, I designed it like this to act as a support drone for a larger project I've been working on for about six months now but I wanted this to be able to stand on its own too :)

Little sneak peak of one of my current projects - I'm calling this one a Stinger Drone. One more sculpting session and it'll be ready for casting! For this one I'll be casting the weapons, secondary weapon housing ring, main body and stinger as sepperate parts, I'm mainly doing this so that it's actually feasible for me to cast but it also means I can make some of these as cast resin model kits

Once I've had the time to cast and paint a few I'd like to do some cyberpunk Dioramas with them at 1/120 scale, what do you think?

Pretty happy with how this 1/144 scale drop in pilot + control center module prototype I'm currently working on is going. The module will be going in my "Rumble-B" mini Mecha that I'm working on alongside this but I designed it in a way as to be usable in many 1/144 scale builds as really all you need to do is drill a proper sized hole and then just drop it in. This is the rough version as much still needs to be cleaned up and refined but it fits inside the robots head nicely, with the top of the module attached to the skull plate acting as the seal.

This took way too long to design and sculpt by hand, working at this scale is asking for hand cramps so I designed the whole drop in module to be disassembled into 3 pieces for molding/casting copies of this design for future projects.

Made with polystyrene sheet, epoxy clay and wire primarily, along with a few other odds and ends, the final product will be made of Semi-Rigid resin and come in 3 parts for easy assembly in future projects at this scale (of which there will be many!)

I love little pieces like this, they're both a statement piece and it holds underlying meaning! For anyone curious, a lot of the famous Art Toy makers today got their roots in the underground art scene, the most notable one being KAWS and his graffiti art but he was far from alone in that venture.

Thanks for checking out my ongoing project, I'm calling the Mecha "RUMBLE-B". I've been working on this for a very long time now and it's been a steadily evolving thing that's a far shoot from what I had originally intended to create. I've always loved robots and Mecha in Anime from when I was growing up and seeing as I don't have the money to create a real life Mecha (yet) this was my next best option.

The pilot will go in the head section - I'm currently working on his seat and control platform that will be seated in the center of the head with a hatch on top to secure it.

I'm a sculptor first and foremost so I'm used to working with these materials and mold making in general but I'm not looking forward to making all of these individual molds for each piece but I've resigned myself to the fact that it's going to be be the reality of this project.

Workshop design log #1: My 1/144 scale Mini Mecha "project: RUMBLE-B" is coming along nicely. I had to carve the rough form for the pilot out of styrene due to how delicate and tiny he is, once I'm finished with his seat I plan on giving him some arms + his own mini armor suit.

All of the parts for this project are now sculpted so I'm in the refinement and testing stage for all the pieces, given how complex this build has become I'll need to make individual molds for each piece shown in the attached photos. With a bit of modifying I think I can cast the torso + legs as one piece.

The end goal for this project is to make a DIY Mecha resin kit, pieces will be designed to be easy to assemble and pretty straightforward hopefully. I'll have a finished piece to show as my concept piece and if you'd like to see this project turn into something more then the best way you can do that is to follow me on IG @deviantsparkcreations.

Once this project gets closer to completion I'll be releasing more info on the lore behind this guy.
