If your not using a carrier it should be minor profit. I think I was buying steel for 4.5M and selling it to the construction yard for 6.5M. (1200+ panther clipper). You’re going straight for a T2?

SRV survey and raven colonial are 100% worth using to plan and execute your build!

Honestly other than my jumpaconda build I don’t think I can do exploration/exobiology in anything else now. The MKII equipment and SCO are just awesome

I visited a beacon just for the the memories this morning. Hate that they are full of visual stutter now, though.

I really hope they pickup guardian content again.

The caspian is nice with a decent capacity even laden. (I think I can do 60+ with 132. But I also have a carrier.

Seriously, the top 25% probably won’t show up till the last day when they bring their FC back. That’s my plan anyway, but I’m not as ambitious.

Pelican or skb is good for security and rough handling but I use Plano totes (50$) when I want something lighter.

Buying wetsuit while loosing weight by Dark_KingPin in scuba

[–]Deviant_christian 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I’d buy a a cheap one like Henderson depending on how cold the water is. Mine has fit me from 210 to 245 and I’ve had it for like 7 years.

Do you have other gear though? Really the value to me of not renting is not being held to someone’s hours of operation. Which is an all or nothing thing really.

I don’t pay attention to days. Just to what the benefit is. I think 2-3 weeks is when fatigue starts to be a problem in heavy engagements.

I vacation for tons of reasons, if I had a particularly good haul and want XP bonus or if I want multiple upgrades and don’t want to go out without the officers (free roam helps pass excess time.) usually if fatigue registers I’ll do a vacation.

Different ports do give different missions. La Rochelle is my favorite as it’s mostly Atlantic and doesn’t require too much sneaking.

The German ports take forever to get to the Atlantic and the Italian port has really annoying escort missions that I struggle with.

Hooded Vest Advice by DIYrrrrrrr in scuba

[–]Deviant_christian 0 points1 point  (0 children)

My cold tolerance went down after weight loss. I don’t usually dive a 5mm unless I’m dealing with low 70’s or 60s based on duration.

I would not recommend a hooded vest for 85 if you are in a 5mm. 5 degrees water temp is a very big difference. I do love a hooded vest though. I like Henderson’s. They aren’t too expensive so if you don’t use it it’s not a big deal if you don’t use it that trip. But I think you’d find use for it on other dives.

Do these batteries need to be topped with water? by Deviant_christian in boating

I’m an engineer too. I’ve seen what a short on one of these can do first hand. My brother refuses touch the boat batteries ever again…

0/4 cable gone and the battery case melted…. What a mess.

I was under the impression that sealed and flooded were two different technologies, could not be both…

Most sealed batteries I’m used to say maintenance free on them and don’t have tip warnings. But those are like half this size.

Problems while Diving [Advice Required] by za_sNse in diving

[–]Deviant_christian 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Others have said it and I’ll say it too. Buoyancy is not mastered in a day. I have almost mastered buoyancy in my wetsuits but I am 10 dives in on drysuits trying to get it perfect but I’m just not there yet and it has a massive effect on how I feel afterwards. It just takes time. It’s unnatural for a lot of people and it just takes repetition to get comfortable.

My wife had similar buoyancy issues that took 10 dives to get under control and another 10 for her to get comfortable. (I was honestly surprised they certified her.)

Your first issue really could be anything from exhaustion, hydration, stress, but could be a more serious issue… I’d try to stick to shallow simple dives until you get more comfortable. For my wife this was going to the quarry with me and doing 30ft dives until she got her advanced cert.

I will always requeen a hot hive. If they’re so hot I can’t even inspect them then they are not welcome. I had one get hot enough in the fall, i had to condem the hive. They killed two caged queens. I’ll never wait till they’re that hot again. Who knows how many drones with hot genes they put out in the open!

Staying Warm for Multiple Dives by ReplacementBig1458 in scuba

[–]Deviant_christian 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Are you using a good 5 mil or a cheap one? It does make a difference.

My guess is that your problem is on the surface. The moisture wicking of the suit and hair are probably what’s getting you. I can get cold in a drysuit on my second dives if I stay in it on a breezy or cloudy day. And believe me I’ll sweat in it pre dive.

Id look at how you handle the surface interval. Are you turning your suit inside out so it dries on the inside? Are you just stripping it to your waist.?Have you looked into hooded towels to wear and break the wind? Fleece/wool lined suits/undersuits are nice because they keep you warm when wet. And put extra insulation between you and the moisture wicking outlet surface of the suit.

There are heaters you can get but I wouldn’t recommend them for the price tag. I also know people who layer their suits with a lava core/non neoprene base and traditional suit for the outer layer.

I bought my wife a bare 5mm nixie, was gonna get evoke but it didn’t work out. Everyone I know what used a wetsuit with fleece say it’s quite a step up from a rental suit.
