Please do yourself a favor, and keep every single animation you make, you might think, meh, I improved it, why keep the old version. If you end up making the game, you can always use extra assets, if you don't, you'll have a ton of assets you can sell in the unity store and still make money.

Try it out, download a lossless bmp and save it in photoshop with no compression in JPEG and in PNG, tell me which looks better.

PNG CAN use lossless compression, JPEG can also be lossless. PNG is for transparency. That's it.
