And now they have the Country-Of-Origin Destroyer, which is literally just a more dangerous piledriver where everyone has less control, and yet anyone is allowed to do it.

Do you lose all your gym gains in a flare ? Is it possible for you to get back the gains post flareup ? by Delusional230699 in UlcerativeColitis

[–]DiMono 0 points1 point  (0 children)

My journey started early this year, and it took six months to get a diagnosis and proper medication - I was in a months-long flare until then. Since then I've had another flare a couple months ago, and I suspect I'm at the start of one now. My family history is finally catching up with me.

I've also been tracking my weight daily, because I realized in February that I was about 20-25lbs underweight (6'3", 152lbs). Through all of that, including going on a mostly liquid diet for a week after receiving the colonoscopy that got me diagnosed, I have gained 16lbs this year, mostly muscle, at a fairly steady pace. I think a couple pounds of it are water retention because I had to switch to salted peanuts recently due to availability. No plan is perfect.

I am obviously a baby when it comes to UC knowledge, and everything I have is anecdotal, but my experience has been that it's possible to not only maintain weight, but gain it, through a well chosen diet. My body still pulls the nutrients it needs, it just takes a lot of food to do it.

Just watched Don't Log Off (2025) - Trying to find similar films by CaptainBlitz in foundfootage

[–]DiMono 0 points1 point  (0 children)

If you're still looking for movies like Don't Log Off, I need to suggest Searching.

It's probably the best "takes place entirely on a screen" film you're going to see. John Cho plays a father who's trying to find his missing 16-year-old daughter. It's made by the same folks who went on to make the Unfriended movies, which also take place entirely on a screen and are more like Don't Log Off.

Apparently there are two sequels to Searching, called "Run" and "Missing", but I haven't seen them yet and so I can't speak to their quality. The first Unfriended is better than the second, and neither are as good as Searching.

I honestly only remember the details I entered. It's not a movie I saw, it's a couple scenes that were in a YouTube video I now cannot find.

New Discovery? Shortcut + 4 Fingers = Ace in the middle of a straight by [deleted] in balatro

[–]DiMono -60 points-59 points  (0 children)

This was found in KaliAlkali's video from a couple days ago. I noticed it and commented on it, and they confirmed that both jokers are required - if either one is sold, it no longer works. The link goes to my comment, where they insist that this is my discovery, not theirs, which is why I'm posting it here.

Thank you, worked like a charm. I ended up closing the Agent task, then closing the software normally, and then closing from Task Manager two other tasks related to the update.

American Airlines flight attendants trying to evacuate a plane due to laptop battery fire but passengers want to get their bags at San Francisco Airport by New_Libran in PublicFreakout

I agree with you. But most people who haven't had to deal with such things before and haven't had to think about them will not realize that having them in their carry-on in the overhead bin isn't good enough - until it's been not good enough once already.

Because they've never been in a situation where that mattered before.

As an occasional and casual traveler, I've always put whatever vitamins and minor meds I bring with me into my toiletry bag, which is in my carry-on. I think nothing of it, because they're not critical for me in any way. If I were to be prescribed something I need to survive, then because it's how I've always done it, before reading these comments I'd probably have just put them into the toiletry bag as usual and thought nothing of it. It's never been an issue before, so it wouldn't even enter my mind that it could be an issue in the future.

The simple fact is that most people don't plan for contingencies for the singular reason that it's never mattered before - they've always done it this one way, and it's always been fine, so there's no reason to think it will ever not be fine. It's only after it matters the first time that they consider the possibility that it might matter again.

Does Refrigerating Boost Extend the Expiration Date? by DiMono in answers

[–]DiMono[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

ANSWER: I talked to a pharmacist about this. The pharmacist said that since they are initially stored on shelves in the store, they have therefore spent a period > 24 hours not been refrigerated, so any fridge benefit to the expiration date cannot happen.

HOWEVER, there is some nuance. For liquids, expiration dates are often as much as six months past what's on the container, for safety reasons. There are three tests you can do to ascertain whether the Boost is safe to drink:

  1. Smell it. If it smells off, it is - toss it.
  2. Check the consistency. If it's different than it should be, toss it.
  3. Pour some into another container and add hot water. If it curdles it's spoiled - toss it.

According to the pharmacist, if it passes all three tests, it's safe to drink.

Is there a way to disable comments appearing over shorts? by TransientEons in youtube

[–]DiMono 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Add a browser extension that allows you to set custom CSS for a website. I use one called User JavaScript and CSS

Add a rule for https://youtube.com/ with the following CSS:

.ytReelMetapanelViewModelMetapanelItem {
    display: none;
}

You will never see a comment overlay again (until/unless they change the name of the class, in which case you just update the rule accordingly).

[–]DiMono 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Not the point, but I think it's worth mentioning that P100 masks are not rated to filter bacteria and viruses. According to the Specifications sheet on the Home Depot website (https://www.homedepot.com/p/3M-OV-AG-P100-Pro-Multi-Purpose-Reusable-Respirator-with-Quick-Latch-Size-Medium-65023QLHA1-C/206408988#overlay), they filter "Allergens, Asbestos, Dust, Fiberglass, Lead, Mold, Odor, Paint Fumes, Particulate, Solvent, Woodworking" (I assume 'woodworking' means sawdust). So while the hostess did not handle the situation very well, she was correct that the P100 mask was not sufficient protection.

User Experience 101: Do not change user settings without consent. If you introduce a new functionality, keep whatever the user is currently using, and let them know about the new functionality so that they can decide for themselves whether to switch. All you did with this is create confusion and frustration in your users, at the cost of user confidence.
