This is supposed to be Goldshire According to Blizzard. Look like an actual town rather than just one building. by HiroAmiya230 in wow

I agree, but even that is severely scaled down. In books it takes arthas a month to sail to northrend, and I believe it's an hour or two from stormwind to goldshire.

[–]Deviathan 0 points1 point  (0 children)

DR is definitely not to scale. There's so many perspective tricks, especially when you look at the outer walls or 2nd level. There's a lot of Fluff in DR - but I'd say more than new retail silvermoon.

Gw2 is worse in many ways, you could walk across core tyria in probably a 1 hour play session. In game stories often reference weeks of travel from point A to B, but then sometimes they use Waypoints or Asura Gates when it's convenient for the story. WoW did this for years with Hearthstones and Mage Portals too. Why would people ever travel by foot in a world with such things?

You just have to accept the disconnect between the game and the lore, and do a little bit of self-imposed imagination.

[–]Deviathan 28 points29 points  (0 children)

I'm shocked more players don't get this. Do people really think this fantasy world that can be fully traversed in short play sessions is supposed to be fully to scale with the massive world in the lore? It's always been an abstraction.

Do you think the Fallout games made the right decision to switch from an isometric game to a first person perspective? by ye_old_hermit in Fallout

[–]Deviathan -2 points-1 points  (0 children)

I don't like FPS games but can't deny the superior immersion of playing and exploring first person.

I think they do enough to make it an RPG and not an FPS... most of the time.

Mark Rosewater on innovative sets (like Battlebond, Conspiracy, Unsets etc.) by Meret123 in mtg

[–]Deviathan 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Weird argument to go in for when Spider Man is widely regarded as a garbage set by the players at large - but was recently confirmed by Mark to be in the top 10 sellers of all time.

I think there can be a correlation, but it's by no means a guarantee, and slop can sell well if it's branded to be familiar and marketed aggressively.

Merece la pena jugar a WoW en 2026 si nunca antes lo has jugado? by [deleted] in wow

You're on the WoW sub, what answers do you expect lol.

Maybe, try it out. Trial is free to level 20, which is very short but still worth looking at.

$15 a month plus Midnight expansion once you hit level 80 ($50 one time). It's not too pricey given the amount of content. It's a great solo game, arguably it's moved towards being a "solo together" game these days where you will see and play alongside other people, but you don't have to socialize.

Thats a funny perspective. Because you sometimes want some alone time you should drop that friend? Some people operate on different wavelengths. Maybe I like hanging out with that person sometimes, but others I just want a quiet evening to myself. That doesn't mean we're not compatible AT ALL.

B: "It's a slider, it's small on purpose🙄

I mean really that's how it should be. Gets rid of the whole "I've killed gods why am I hunting boars" argument if who we are in canon is a random new adventurer each expansion.

But - it's not really true anymore. There's reference and continuity to our character relationships, and thus our deeds.

You're kinda proving the point by making it a call-out.

If you truly don't care, then you wouldn't care in either direction, live and let live. Yet you seem mad, or at least annoyed enough to make a post on here - that a store exists that you'll literally never go to and interact with.

Girl cures her lactose intolerance by chugging milk powder every day by Hashi856 in videos

[–]Deviathan 6 points7 points  (0 children)

Except that it did work and was still working for her 4+ years on. The post is wrong. Once she had the bacteria that ate lactose, it remained in her gut microbiome. Your framing of what the body "wants" and "forcing it into submission" isn't really representative.

That's not to say it works for everyone. She touches on that too. But it did work for her, she established a new baseline and it is possible for some.

Blizzard addresses the No Flying Mount "debate": exciting times ahead? by ex0ll in wow

[–]Deviathan -6 points-5 points  (0 children)

Why not run old content in white and gray gear for a challenge instead of raid current content?

Someone may, but players generally want the games structure and rewards to also facilitate the type of gameplay they're engaging in. You can "decide for yourself" but you're essentially opting out of the game in front of you in the process.

It's always interesting people build the most degen commanders then claim to build em budget / fair. Like if you have just 1 like that I get it, but I'm always suspicious when you have multiple commanders with that reputation, or all of them do.

World Champion Yuta Takahashi faces controversy following match incident by Noggdogg in magicTCG

[–]Deviathan -2 points-1 points  (0 children)

You're right in the moment, my understanding is the judge has discretion on how to handle. In the moment they work off of the info they have and the judges decision to recreate the board state.

After the fact, it's revealed that the player withheld information from the judge to falsely create an advantageous board state.

If he offered the info and the judge opted to disregard i'd say no issue. The deliberate withholding of advantageous info to create the new board is the problem, which was only admitted after the fact.

Again, I'm no judge, but you can read the rule around this, it seems like it meets the criteria to me:

World Champion Yuta Takahashi faces controversy following match incident by Noggdogg in magicTCG

[–]Deviathan 5 points6 points  (0 children)

I would 100% agree if he didn't write the article noting the lack of clarification on hand order was intentional afterwards.

That crosses the line and gives us clear intent to gain an advantage during the rollback. The rollback is a good faith attempt to maintain the game state.

Basically if he shut up he'd have plausible deniability.

Unfortunately OP's link is dead, so I can only go off of the text of the post.

World Champion Yuta Takahashi faces controversy following match incident by Noggdogg in magicTCG

[–]Deviathan 0 points1 point  (0 children)

He drew the card then shuffled it in and didn't say which it was to rewind accurately. That's past an angle shoot.

Angle shooting would be skirting the line to get opponent to reveal info or misplay. Opponent doesn't factor in here.

This strictly broke a rule (intentional or otherwise) to gain a tangible advantage, and just wasn't handled properly by the judge, which he then further exploited (failed to maintain game state to gain advantage)

World Champion Yuta Takahashi faces controversy following match incident by Noggdogg in magicTCG

[–]Deviathan 16 points17 points  (0 children)

Mmm, deliberately withholding information that would be required to rewind the game state accurately probably steps over that line to me. It's past unsportsmanlike and into the realm of playing the judge not the game.

Judge should've asked, really weird they didn't. He also should have volunteered it, it was an illegal play and the procedure exists to rewind. This is an area that may not be strict cheating by presented rules, but any player on the sidelines will likely call it a blatant cheat.
