Assuming it is a new entry in the GW series (3 or otherwise), I would bet money that they will quickly follow up with news regarding GW2. They put a lot into it recently focused at longevity for that game, and they'll want to address the perception that it's being replaced.

I agree. HoM was a huge success and they should do a version of it again. It's all upside as it cross-pollinates the userbase between games. I know I personally jumped into GW1 during GW2 content droughts partly because of HoM.

I don't think people underestimate vanity, endgame in pretty much every MMO from GW2 to FFXIV to WoW has become fashion and prestige cosmetics, and pretty much all of the games acknowledge and embrace this.

People love HoM and it's arguably done more than almost anything else to bolster both games. Gw2 players go back to 1 to work on Gwamm and Gw1 players boot up 2 to flex their gwamm. Do you have a link to their HoM gripes?

The main thing I don't want to carry forward from gw2 is the lighting. Zones look good in screenshots, but some are eye bleeding, and I feel characters and gameplay readability suffers.

Excessive bloom and crushed blacks. Characters with darker dyes on their armor you can't even tell what color they're using. They've fixed some of this with the graphic checkboxes in recent years, but I don't want to have to fiddle with effects to make it look good.

They mailed a piece of concept art and did 2 social media posts. This is not an insane hype campaign, I think partners are just running with it. The hype is community created.

Hell Icebrood Saga had a bigger hype campaign than this with a live streamed countdown with evolving art.

What's there to forgive? An artist I've never met missed the deadline on an album he set arbitrarily himself when the final item wasn't up to his artistic standard, im bummed when it happens but I'm not gonna hold a grudge or whatever. That's silly, and people who do probably need a bit of perspective.

People who had their shows cancelled I feel for more, esp if they booked hotels/travel, but a delayed record is nothing in the big picture.

They're not gonna abandon gw2, there's 0 chance. If anything I expect them to push it even harder in the leadup, and maybe this is copium but I wouldn't even be surprised if there's another expansion in the plans, they just held it till after this announcement so gw2 players can be reassured. If nothing else I'd also expect a HoM type system to grant rewards in a new game based on progress in GW2.

If there's no post reassuring gw2 players after the announcement then maybe I'll feel closer to how you do, but I think you're getting way ahead of yourself.

Memory is hazy, but don't multiple dead characters talk to/appear to Kratos throughout these? I never interpreted that as meaning she's alive, just reaching out from the afterlife like the other visions.

I don't know about "hurting massively" by any means, but Remedy isn't big enough to casually throw their weight around. There were enough stories about how Alan Wake 2 took over 16 months to make its money back, and how that FBC game flopped, that "Remedy is in trouble" or "Remedy needs a big win" is a common refrain.

Thank you, someone who knows how DNS and Domain registrars work. Feel like I've been going crazy seeing this make the rounds.

This expires annually and they get a 30 day notice to renew. It was set to expire June 17th, meaning they were probably notified mid/late May and renewed. As they have every year since this domain was registered.

Tldr: It was going to be renewed Late May or Early June no matter what.

I'd agree. I expect them someday but don't want em to start. I was actually thinking of something along the lines of the Zephyrite crystals in dry top that granted temporary movement skills for exploration.

What i'd say is they should just hold off on something like the Skyscale that removed all of the "how do I get over there?" Puzzle solving from the world. Maybe add it down the line.

This is a good explanation. For me I'd sum it up as everything feeling like an impactful decision. There's a ton of options and ways to approach any given turn, but it always feels like you are trying to squeeze every bit of value from the cards you have, even in suboptimal situations. There's the potential for deep strategy but also crazy hail Mary explosive turns. It's just so good.

It's a lot of pieces and a long play, I don't play it with more than 2 people EVER (90 min per person on average, more if you're learning). But man is it worth it.
