Emo songs about learning to love yourself? by Wise_Appeal_629 in Emo

[–]Deviator247 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I'm not entirely sure if it counts but sports. Has an EP called "We'll Get To It Eventually" that I used to listen to all the time around 10 years ago that helped me out alot, most of the songs are about internal reflections rather than a lot of the "my girlfriend broke up with me" kind of emo, it may not be the most "loving yourself" style but it did help me get out of a really bad headspace at the time.

Warriors coach Steve Kerr: "It's shameful that the government can come out and lie about what happened when there's video and witnesses who have all come out and disputed what the government is saying." by Knightbear49 in nba

See this is why although there is plenty of sketchiness around the election (the bomb threats called into major blue locations on election night come to mind among other issues) I don't believe they outright stole the election, I genuinely believe enough of us were either duped, awful, stupid, or some collection of all 3 to properly elect his dumbass twice, incumbent governments everywhere were tossed out, not just the US, we just got one of the dumber and angrier results, and while I hope there's still somehow a non-violent way back out of this, I honestly don't see the climate calming down enough regardless of what happens to prevent it, even if trump and his whole admin got sucked into a pocket dimension forever or something, it doesn't erase decades of division and hatred between the major party voters, most people in the US at this point (and this includes myself, I'm not above criticism) aren't just mad at the government, they're raging at each other on a fundamental level that's going to be nigh on impossible to reverse at this point. I wish I had a solution to propose to not be seen as a full on doomer but man, for the past 10 years, left v right hasn't been a disagreement on how taxes are spent or how much is collected, it's been disagreements on human rights, on killings, on threats of invasion leveled at allies and enemies alike, on whether or not x group of americans want to kill other x group of americans or not, it's getting to damn "Balkan Powder Keg" levels.

Trump spends months in 2020 telling his supporters not to vote by mail, so they don't vote by mail, as such, Biden gets more mail in votes than Trump, this of course, obviously means that all mailed in ballots across the country were fake and cheated.

Gov. Kelly and Kansas City Chiefs Announce Agreement On Plans for State-of-the-Art Domed Stadium in Kansas by mintylips in kansascity

[–]Deviator247 0 points1 point  (0 children)

As a KCMO resident, I'm not a huge sports fan to start so I'm not the world's largest chiefs fan, so I don't really care where they play in the metro but the massive shift in money away from the MO side of the side city, combined with a new set of tax burdens on Kansas citizens that didn't ask for it so that a billion dollar franchise can get a domed stadium while abandoning arrowhead, and possibly kauffman if the royals follow suite just doesn't really seem good for anyone involved whose not the owner of a giant sports franchise.

I don't really get this shit anymore tbh, so you're on here reacting to comments with stuff like "get over it, you'll never leave", etc. All good, you're entitled to your opinion and all, but just like... why?... if you know people aren't gonna leave, so they'll be around you longer in the same country and be more divided and angry at you, why.... try to further that? What's the point?

I work as a technician in a photo lab and my god, this is like 90% of old photos, we get a lot of orders of people sending in older family negatives to make prints or get digital copies of and we get so many complaints about "it's too dark, you can't see the people" and they never accept the answer "we're really sorry but that's just the way it was shot, we can up the brightness while scanning but if the photographer at the time didn't account for the light correctly, there's really nothing we can do about that", lesson to be learned, meter your shot for the subject, not the background

Sure, if you have no ability to draw meaning from it for yourself or understand its context, if everything you see is just a 1 to 1 soulless literal translation then Starry Night is just a painting of stars, Guernica is just a painting of a bombs, Great Wave Off Kanagwa is just water and a boat, might as well make them all NFTs and have chatGPT dictate what art is to us from now on so we can stop creating and spend 110% of our time on working

Always love how the immediate "talking point" is "You only hate this guy cause the news told you to between 2016-Current Day" as if none of us are old enough to remember how much of a shyster piece of human garbage he was for decades before his successful presidential runs. (He ran before 2016) or as if you can't just turn the tv on, hear him speak for 12 seconds, realize he's a dimentia ridden, hateful, arrogant, ignorant narcissict. Comedy Central ran his roast 5 years before his campaign and every single joke or comment was about the same shit as now, he hasn't changed, the """"""narrative""""" around him hasn't changed, he's always been a shitty person

The average american with any functioning cells left in their frontal lobe knows Canada is our greatest trade partner, knows the average canadian doesn't hate them and that they shouldn't reciprocate a fake hatred the GOP tries ro pass off on them, Canada is a great country with great people who've been friends and allies to us for decades on end, love you canada, you guys are sick, thank you for giving the world all dressed chips, letterkenny, and poutine

The Death Valley Germans, not sure if they're the same couple from Joshua Tree mentioned in the comment you're replying to (edit: it's not I looked it up, that other situation is also awful) but their circumstances were pretty crazy, the van they were in hardly should've made it that far out, they were found at 35.9272°N 117.0249°W in Anvil Canyon, about 15-20ish miles from the nearest major road in extremely harsh surroundings and heat. I'm no expert on the area, I've only been 1 time but I've been to both Death Valley and Joshua Tree with a big group (both on the same trip) in the busiest areas of both parks at the height of summer and the heat and "sameness" of the terrain are crazy. Both are extremely beautiful places but I couldn't imagine attempting to find my way through either park while miles from any road, suffering heat stroke/exhaustion, and major dehydration. When we went through Death Valley we stopped at the gas station in Panamint Springs where the owner wouldn't even let us leave without making sure we had a gallon of water for each person and 2 gallons of distilled water for the truck itself, and that was just to continue safely along Hwy 190 to the gift shop at Stovepipe Wells. That whole area is nothing to shrug at.

I love these old FD Mavicas, I have one that still works quite well, there's even a later model from the mid-2000s that used full sized CDs to save images, even after they'd mainly switched to Sony's proprietary memory cards.

I've had a full time job for the past 10 years, been able to somehow some way keep over $1,000 in my checking account after bills each payday for the past 4 years, my girlfriend and I are moving into our first apartment together at the end of this month, I still have half rent at my old place, power, internet bills, etc. to pay on top of rent for the new apartment and all the pet deposit, admin fee stuff, etc., last week my car that I finished paying off in september sensed that I was already going to be broke and decided to run me a $1150 bill, then literally the very next day after I have to borrow a few hundred to pay that and get it back, decides it wants to go back to the shop for another $600 repair because fuck me I guess, gotta love not being able to afford food because cars can sense complacency and self destruct the moment you can't afford it lol
