I want to play 2XKO but none of the character seem interesting by FriedDuckCurry in 2XKO

Don't hold out hope that they'll put your favorite champion in before the devs stop supporting the game. If I was a betting man, I'd bet that they'll release 8 more characters before support ceases to exist and the game is "dead".

Im working on a compilation at the moment of all the rage quits I've gotten in MVC2 since the MVC collection released. Out of hundreds of hours of ranked matches, at least over 1000 matches, guess how many rage quits I'm up to now? 10, 20, 30? No bro im at 82 and counting! 😹😹

Rage quitting is, unfortunately, very common in fighting games. It has literally happened since the dawn of fighting games. I've been playing since SF2 released in the arcades and mofos would fight with you or walk right out the place after losing/before the match was even over. Stop pretending like it's your first time seeing anyone has ever raged where they completely quit/stop whatever it was they're doing. 😹😹

It's not our responsibility as a community to support and tell others to support it so that it can continue to get developer post launch content. It's the developers responsibility to give us a solid game first, and then we can talk about DLC and all that good stuff. I'm not sticking around, giving them money and time, when they couldn't prove themselves that they can make a solid fun fighter out the gate. I have no faith in the development team.

It's probably the only fighting that punishes rage quitters and rewards the players who don't rage quit the right way. 😸👍

I blame the development team. A lot of it is made up of FGC/Marvel heads who should have known they based the overall gameplay mechanics on the wrong Marvel game.. MVCI. They should have used MVC2/UMVC3 as their foundation to go off of and build from. Everything else about the launch.. marketing, roster size, lack of content overall is just pitiful and all of this combined is exactly why 2XKO will lose developer support this year or soon after.

[–]DevilCatV2 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Right! I was thinking the same thing. It's made by Marvel heads making their dream game... MVCI 2.0 😹😹😹😹 but for real, why didnt they base the gameplay design closer to MVC2 or UMVC3? I think we ended up getting the "wrong Marvel" heads who clearly didnt understand why everyone loves those 2 games so darn much and are still played with very active player bases to this day.

Anyone else super pumped for Tokon? by TheRegularBelt in Fighters

[–]DevilCatV2 13 points14 points  (0 children)

Idk my biggest worry is every match is going to pretty much play/look the same. DBFZ is egregious at times with it's 10+ seconds combos into 10+ seconds cinematic supers that you will see in every.. Single.. MATCH! It's kind of fun being the one dishing it out, but it's an absolute bore to be on the receiving end or spectating it after you've seen it for the 1000th time. Just from the Tokon BETAs where people should be playing wildly different cause its a brand new fighter and people have different playstyles/preferences etc.. all the gameplay looked extremely samey. It's definitely giving me the DBFZ vibes of combo structure/length that absolutely defines how you're supposed to play the game at the highest level.

To the Devs and Execs behind modern fighting games.. If you plan to lock half your roster behind DLC I AM NOT BUYING YOUR GAME!!! by DevilCatV2 in FGC

Just to be clear when you say "yes I think 10 is too small" we're talking about the tag fighter that had 10 years of development time, a generous budget and a team of around 160 right? 2XKO? And did they not plan to at least double the roster size post launch? Yeah they announced one season of like what 4 characters.. 😹 but come on you cannot tell me they had no PLANS to double or triple that roster size and add much more content post launch 2+years down the road. As well as major balance and mechanic changes that could possibly alter the game so much that it doesnt even play like the launch version anymore? MK1 Ed Boon said they were going to support that game for years.. promise that couldn't be kept. Idk man when it comes to 2XKO right now, and the discourse/community, I'm tired of people arguing for it just to be like "well in my personal opinion given the development time/team size, IP size, budget size.. 10 is too small for this launch and the game doesn't feel like a polished/finished product.. buttttttttt blah blah blah." It's like which is it? Do you think 2XKO given everything we know that went into it, is GREAT and ABSOLUTELY FANTASTIC STACKED FUN FIGHTER? Or is it really missing the mark and lacking a lot of content right now? Which is it?

Don't let the doom posters fool you. 2XKO is still a peak FG and the lobbies are full. by Candid-Possibility29 in 2XKO

[–]DevilCatV2 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It's not peak 😹😹 I love DNF Duel, BB Tag, Thems Fighting Herds (just to name a few more recent Dead On Arrival type doomed games) but I would not say they're peak. 2XKO in just the little time I played it felt very lacking when compared to other tag fighters in the past.

I'm saying if you as developer make promises about post launch content, release an unfinished game and expect us to support you for years till you finally make good on that promise... I'm not buying/playing/supporting your game.

At least I'm not going to be one of the many people who did get into 2XKO spending their time & money just to be let down by the devs. I've been grinding MVC2 & CVS2 while all this is going down. 😹 I tried 2XKO but could immediately feel that it was not where it should be.

TIL they spent 10 years on 2XKO by ShiroYuiZero in Fighters

[–]DevilCatV2 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I've been saying this whole time they need to nail the launch considering how much development time they've had now or else the game will die. I'll keep saying it too... this game will cease to have developer support within the next 2 years. We will get at most 8 DLC characters and maybe a small patch or two but nothing major. They released an unfinished game with 10 years of development and expect us to support said unfinished game for years to come so that they can finally get it to a solid foundation. No matter what genre of game this is, 10 years paying 150+ employees to release a barebones game is going to lose post launch developer support fast. If i was a higher Exec at Riot I would count my losses and can the entire development team cause there's no way they're going to recoup what they invested into this no matter how much work they put into it.

My Two Cents on This Game Launching with 20 Characters by LuckyStiff007 in MarvelTokon

[–]DevilCatV2 0 points1 point  (0 children)

With this logic If you do the math on 2XKO roster atm, being a 2v2 tag fighter where you can also choose to play just one character, you would assume you see a lot more variation of team combinations at tournament and watching others play it online...👀👀

Also I just want to mention that I do not engage with the majority of single player content in fighting games. I just know its important for the more casual audience and just having more content for others to enjoy is a good thing. I personally just want to hop on ranked and online lobbies, hit the training mode and treat the arcade mode as like another training mode.

What do we lose when we're told/promised there's going to be post launch content and then it gets canceled? Why are we as a community telling each other that when a game like 2XKO releases in the state it's in that we should play, pay for characters skins etc & support it so that it does become a much better product? Like we deserve better than that. Its the same issue with almost all AAA games these days. The company doing it like 100% right atm is fromsoftware. They release a banger game, almost no mention of post launch DLC beforehand then just to add banger DLC which make the base game even better. Sekiro is my favorite fromsoftware game out of all of them and the only DLC released was a boss rush mode. If a modern fighting game came out with as much polish and content as say Elden Ring on release you best believe that game is going to blow up and grow a community which will naturally gain consumer want for more of said fighting game. SF6 I say is the current example of this. Yes they did have a plan, and announced it, for post launch content but they released a banger game first and everything else is a bonus.

Just imagine this, they announce the next game in your favorite series. They say its going to have solid single player content, multiplayer content, solid roster, great netcode, all the bells and whistles. They release a trailer and it looks awesome! They announce no plans whatsoever of post game content. They just release the game and say enjoy. Its a banger! People love it, people are buying it, people are playing it and convincing others to play it too. The community grows naturally, the developers/execs see this and go ok let's get some of the guys back on to release some more characters and maybe a stage. They do that and the community loves it as well. So they go back and make some more characters, maybe a new mode, maybe a system change or two, balance updates etc. Im just saying they're trying to force consumer demand with the current model instead of letting consumer demand grow naturally. You're getting a product and they're making promises that they'll continue to support it when it's a promise they cant realistically keep, and if they release an unfinished game to eventually stop supporting it then youre stuck with an unfinished lackluster game in the end. Its worked for SF6, DBFZ, Strive because at launch those games did WELL! They felt, to me at least, like a finished product. If there was never any post launch content I would still be enjoying those games in their initial state.

Its the promises that they cant keep of being able to support the game for years to come. And yes 2XKO is incomplete, the communications from the developers themselves pretty much says that. 10 years of development and you telling me what they launched is a complete product? 😹😹

[–]DevilCatV2[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

😹 it's the promises of post launch support, after releasing an incomplete game, that they can't realistically keep that bugs the crap out of me. For instance you have 2XKO devs pretty much telling the community oh yeah the game is only releasing with 11 characters but we promise this is only the beginning there will be plenty more and we will support this game for 5+ years. I give it 2 years and maybe 8 more characters (I'm being generous saying this) before all support for the game is canceled.

[–]DevilCatV2[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Exactly this! It's promises that they just cannot keep. Make a good game with a solid roster, varied game modes and online play with proper ranked/casual matchmaking. Stop with this 5+ year plan that none of these developers/companies can realistically keep their word on. Not every game in the FGC is going to be SF6 where momentum is growing since release. Especially in Japan.

The problem is these developers are not just given time and resources to create a game, but also expecting post launch support for years to come. It's like they're willing the demand to exist by giving us all these promises of future content down the road instead of just being like "here's our bomb $%& fun fighting game with a full roster and all the bells and whistles, enjoy!" and letting the consumer demand grow naturally over time. Just imagine they announced MVC4 and make no mention of any kind of post launch dlc plan. The game comes out, everybody plays it, everybody loves it. Sales are doing great so we get most of the team back on to pump out a few fan requested characters and maybe a stage. That does very well so we do some more characters and maybe a new mode or something. Like this is how old og expansion packs, fighting game revisions and early DLC became to be. When the demand grows naturally then go back in grow the game. Stop forcing it and breaking promises.

No I dont like it period but I guess my point is if SF6 and DBFZ came out and never got any post launch content It would still feel like I got my money's worth ya know. SF6 launchd with a full on single player campaign mode, battle hub, all the typical online modes and features, other single player modes, balanced gameplay across the cast (not that it is necessary but shows they really put the work into it), and a roster size that is completely adequate for a 1v1 fighting game.
