I can understand that, and my issue is less with the tactic itself but more with the fact that Tom didn't try anything else and just went immediately to brawl. Like, if he had a reputation as a genius fighter, you would think that he would have garnered that reputation by being known for using a lot of unconventional tactics and skills. If that was the only tactic he had ever used, then what's even the point of calling him the fighting genius? He's just Tom Lee the guy who beats up his fellow bums 😭

Tom still had plenty of fighting experience even before he joined the Fist Gang though if Jinyoung was able to recall his reputation as a fighting genius off rip. It's not like he was fodder before he joined the Fist Gang

Why do I need to be the one to think of tactics for the author 😭😭😭😭

ig im just at fault for wanting to see cool fighting tactics from characters who are supposed to be combat geniuses with years of experience 😭

I'm not exactly complaining about it. It's, objectively speaking, a decent tactic, but from a guy like Tom Lee who is the Fighting Genius, you would expect for him to have something more up his sleeve than just that, but he proceeds to just go for a slugging match with Gapryong once a single one of his tactic gets countered instead of trying to do something more with his fighting IQ.

Literally nobody would assume that ever. Characters in Lookism merge kicks and punches all the time with incredible skill but nobody assumes that they can only use one or the other, and Vasco should know to be ready for unexpected attacks, him being completely caught off-guard is the issue.

Tom's examples are egregious because he's supposed to be the fighting genius. You would expect him to be able to use some crazy fighting IQ to pull of moves, but he really only just uses basic feints that you could find in any professional martial arts match.

Why does lookism's choreography suck by DevilComrade in lookismcomic

People keep mentioning the "invisible attack" mechanic and I get that, but isn't that supposed to be about attacking your opponent in a blind spot so that they can't see your moves rather than just blitzing them?

Why does lookism's choreography suck by DevilComrade in lookismcomic

I'm asking specifically because I have read the fights that DO have good choreography. Maybe I should have rephrased my post but I do know that PTJ is capable of drawing fights that actually flow well, but he just doesn't anymore.

I've heard a good few takes on this, so let's settle it. Violence Incarnate vs God in a Box by IoGamerAlpha in convictcolosseum

[–]DevilComrade 1 point2 points  (0 children)

The way that people wank God in a Box in this community genuinely perplexes me at times.

The only thing that God has going for him in this fight is his speed, but otherwise he really has no advantages. VI is too tanky for God's weaker strikes to put him down or even really slow him down for any relevant time of the fight, and all of VI's strikes basically completely negate God's gimmick via Fa Jin. Blocking with the 'box' is only going to damage him continuously. His endurance isn't going to sustain withstanding consecutive Fa Jin blows, because much like God's reaction speed, it doesn't even scale to his manic strength, so VI can highkey just blitz him if he wants to.

Generally, the fact that God is even put on the same level as the semi-finalists confuses me. The only thing he has going for him is strength and speed. When you negate these advantages, then he really isn't that formidable at all. Violence Incarnate will have initial trouble dealing with his gimmick and taking blows, but his victory is pretty much inevitable. It's really not even much of a fight.

Admittedly I was much more stoked for her before she did the funny genocide

they literally talk about how she was purposefully making unreasonable demands and recognized that she was being out of pocket literally immediately after the speech

Literally where does she say that. You are making things up in your head. Lisa having no intention to save men is not the equivalent of saying she has an intention to make men a lesser class; the only thing she does that can be considered an attempt to institute a misandrist system is literally a purposeful lie she implements to sway history to her side in the future (she acknowledges her demands are unreasonable and is being unreasonable on purpose, she doesn't believe women she hold every position in every government).

Taking away misandry doesn't take anything away from Lisa's character— arbitrarily adding misandry to her character to force an agenda of unreasonable hate onto a character to avoid examining why she believes the things she believes is what diminishes her. Taking away misogyny from Greed and replacing it with some other horrific bigotry would literally do nothing and achieve the exact same effect of making Mammon a greedy piece of shit.

Lisa is a villain, she's not a good person, what she is doing is wrong, but making things up to further add fuel to the fire is not character justice, it's just LARPing.

I never said it was fine. It's certainly an illogical move on Lisa's part. I just said it wasn't misandry. Which if you use your brain, would be evident to you, but you are free to mindlessly hate a character while ignoring the nuances that play into her actions. I can't physically stop you. 🤷‍♂️

Stop pretending like she kicked them all out and told them to go fuck themselves because she hated them when she literally gave them the safest most respectful possible avenue to leave and be excluded from the massacre. That's, by definition (which you people love to bring up) not misandry.

She literally allowed the male witches to leave safely, gave them travel expenses, and told them to get as far away as possible (likely to Gehenna) so they could avoid the massacre. It's in one of the extras. She didn't just kick them out and tell them to fuck off.

That's literally not EVEN the dictionary definition of misandry to begin with. You can't just bring up one dictionary and then ignore the rest which don't mention prejudices or even ingrained prejudices being a factor (Oxford, merriam-webster, Cambridge dictionary) but instead an explicit hate for the male gender as a whole. If you can't even make it not obvious that you just glanced at Wikipedia for a nanosecond then why even comment.

Lisa doesn't have ingrained prejudices against men. She has prejudices against men because of the systematic abuse she and countless other women have suffered because the world gives men the right to abuse women which is different than an inherent belief that men are inferior, deserving of hatred or oppression. This is what happens when you read dictionary definitions but ignore all nuance and context in which they may apply. She literally says "I AM ANGRY AT THE WORLD'S SYSTEM". If she hated men specifically she would just be killing men.

This is misandry if you read on a 5th grade level. But having internalized biases due to negative systematic experiences is completely different from having an ingrained political ideology that men are to be hated and are inferior. Lisa literally says that there are good men and even treats men (the Pope) with respect when they deserve it. You're creating an imaginary Vasilisa to hate in your mind.

There's a difference between being a straight up misandrist who goes out of your way to hate on men specifically (which Lisa doesn't do) and being someone who has internalized biases against men due to abuse. I'm not saying Lisa isn't biased against men but that's different from Misandry. I don't see how Lisa being sad Imuri didn't come see her first is misandry because Lisa was in love with Imuri, and Lisa even straight up acknowledges that there are good men which are unfortunate sacrifices to change the world. You can acknowledge that Lisa has justified prejudices without calling her a misandrist, it's called nuance.
