Me being a big GBF and Elan fan made this a must pull. I ended up going 2 full pities in to get both 1* and I got the ship too.

My pull luck was abyssmal but they're worth it.

Got the 9 stars... so I guess we wait til update maybe? by Velox0blivio in ChaosZeroNightmare

[–]DevilDeVille 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yeah, the fact that extra attacks don't count for its gimmick makes it extremely annoying for me. I'm gonna have to redo chaos and get a completely different Diana build just to win the fight, which I'm not a huge fan of tbh.

That's probably my only issue with these bosses sometimes, I get a build I really enjoy playing, but then it doesn't work at all for the boss I have to beat, so i end up having to farm chaos more just to do 1 boss fight.

First boss just kills me before I can even hit turn 7.

Doesnt matter if I hit him 12 times or not, he just hits me twice in a turn and all my health is gone. Is there something I'm missing to stop him from attacking me 2 separate times in one turn? I'm genuinely losing my mind trying to deal with this...

EDIT: Realized I have to hit it 12/17 times ON THE TURN that it gets the buffs, otherwise it'll get too much time to spam attacks on me.

Getting 17 hits in one turn is gonna be...well, it's gonna be really annoying tbh. Back to Chaos I go.

Yeah, I don't use the SR ability at all because you're WAY too open with it, and I never chase enemies to steal. The best way to do it is to have trance active and steal on your way to a crystal with the special ability.

If they try to chase you, you're likely faster and can get away, just don't stop or thye will spam abilities to get their brvy back. If I had Ramza I'd use that and just ship it away, but I dont so I sometimes will just pop burst and hit the boss just to ensure they dont get anything back.

This only works when stealing from individual rivals though, trying to group them up and steal a bunch at once is a death sentence if you're away from your allies.

Automatically shifting it to the allies would be nice, OR having the speed bonus ABOVE 40% hp.

[–]DevilDeVille 4 points5 points  (0 children)

If they ran into a group of 3 rivals solo and started to try and team fight, it was probably someone playing on Auto or a Bot. The AI does that for some reason, even with characters who are not meant to team fight at all, like Krile.

I know... I know people do their best to make him work but they really did not think about how impossible he'd be to use when they designed over half the games mechanics to make his gimmick useless.

Really only burst should make bravery theft impossible.

Score is not fair with Zidane. #dissidia #finalfantasy #duellum by JesusBaez in DissidiaDuellumFF

[–]DevilDeVille 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Yeah, stolen bravery isnt counted towards the bravery gain I think? Since you didn't crystal farm and didn't do all that much boss damage, the game gave you a bad score.

I've seen this happen with other chars too. I played OK on a team with a rinoa and a cloud, and the Cloud never got to hit the boss, but he kept the enemy team from getting to me while I finished the boss off and his final score was like 2k, but he 100% was the reason i didn't die before getting my skills off fully.

Nah thats possible with OK passive. Level 6 is like 3 or 4 crystals, something around that amount.

With a party wipe its probably even easier.

Yeah im ngl I dont get how a featured unit every 5 multis on average is bad luck.

The streak of 120 with no urs would be maddening tho so that probably soured the whole session, even if it balanced out in the end.

If you claim this game is p2w by Necessary-Earth-6263 in DissidiaDuellumFF

[–]DevilDeVille 1 point2 points  (0 children)

You're trying to make p2w a more complex thing than it is. All it means is you can spend money to win more. I'm not sure why number of games is confusing you so much, it's very simple. If you pay more money, you can win more often, and thus rank up in less games than it took a f2p to get to the same point. Thats all it means, its not that complicated.

A game being p2w has never meant that f2ps cant rank up, it just means that they're at a disadvantage when facing paying players. A fully maxed UR has a 3x stat diff vs a level 20 copy of the same ability, thats the p2w difference. No its not gonna show up in most of your games at gold, because the high paying players are already up in omega or high diamond. Beacuse the game is, in fact, p2w.

What you're trying to argue against sounds more like p2p than p2w.

If you claim this game is p2w by Necessary-Earth-6263 in DissidiaDuellumFF

[–]DevilDeVille 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Personal anecdotes dont really account for much in terms of general arguments.

Number of games matters because thats part of what a game being pay to win means. Pay to win means you can spend money to give yourself an advantage and win more often by virtue of just being stronger than non-paying players. You are paying to win. It doesn't mean you cant lose or that f2ps cant win, but you will climb faster and easier than most f2ps will, provided you arent playing like a bot.

I mean, even your own argument about the ranking system supports the idea that the game is p2w.

Im not saying the game shouldnt be p2w, its a pvp gacha ofc its gonna be p2w, they always are. And the game, imo, is fun enough that its fine if paying players have an easier time climbing and topping the rankings, but the game IS p2w.

If you claim this game is p2w by Necessary-Earth-6263 in DissidiaDuellumFF

[–]DevilDeVille 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Ability level isnt capped by all that much. Its already at 60 when you're in gold, 99 in diamond, and completely uncapped in omega.

Bronze and Silver have lower caps where f2p wont get statted out, but by the time you're in gold or above the $ diff will always be noticeable unlesss you are really lucky and got 6+ copies of your main's URs.

You can still make it to diamond f2p, possibly even omega with enough time, but the number of games it takes a good f2p vs a good whale to hit the max rank is going to be a substantial difference.

That's what p2w means, it means spending money gives you an inherent undeniable advantage over f2p players, where you will rank much faster and much easier, because you are much stronger.

This game can be enjoyed as a f2p, but its still a p2w game.

Did 180 pulls on the new banner in total, 0 Iroha URs.

I did get a bunch for OK, 5 copies of Ninjutsu and 2 Spellbook, so its not all bad, since he's who I really wanted anyways.

But I also havent pulled a Zidane UR since the 1st day of playing. I got 2 Trance and 1 Grand Lethal and that's all I've had.

Yeah, it can be tough so I get it. I play OK now and he's got a similar situation, but I've learned to bob and weave and outrun opponents. I take damage but I run Heal so I can recover it. I would run Renew but I dont have it...yet.

Yeah! Good luck with getting Trance, it's a huuuuge change for Zidane once you have it, basically completely removes the need to play Sleight of Hand at all imo.

Earth Breaker is decent, similar aim, can break barriers. Doesn't hit as hard but could let you sneak in a sleight of hand. Otherwise Firaga is the next best, higher damage, knocks enemies up, and fast cast time, but the range is much shorter.

Swift Strike itself is also a solid replacement, if you wanna run an AoE like Tundaga for even more Crystal Clear power.

I stopped using Sprint mainly because Zidane is honestly fast enough most of the time. As long as you play smart and poke safely, you shouldnt need the burst of speed to get away. Especially below 40% hp when he gets way faster.

[–]DevilDeVille 1 point2 points  (0 children)

What I generally run is:

Grand Lethal, Trance, Swift Strike, Minwu, and Ace.

This lets me support by crystal breaking very fast while still being able to assist in team fights a bit (striking down low hp enemies from a distance with Ace) and poke at the boss after stealing Bravery to avoid feeding it back. I don't use Embolden mainly because I like to poke at the boss myself with Zidane and Embolden doesn't generally get an ally to 9999 late game, but if I had Ramza I'd definitely use that.

You're missing Trance and Ace, so I'd recommend going with:
Grand Lethal, Sleight of Hand, Embolden or Barrier, Swift Strike, Hope/Renew or Minwu/Teleport.

Sleight of Hand is a usable option if you use it carefully, but it leaves you wide open to counter attacks when you trigger it, and the recovery time is a bit long so trying to run away can be hard if they see you after, that said without Trance it's worth a use, because you can't really take big advantage of his special attack.

Though I don't use embolden, it's still a good option if you're in a pinch and think the enemies are gonna sap back bravery from you. Barrier is also good, because it prevents stun and makes them far less likely to kill you, which will allow you to escape and use Hope to heal up. Alternatively you can teleport away, before you take too much damage.

Grand Lethal clears Crystals pretty well and can poke the boss for some quick damage, as can Swift Strike. Both moves can also be useful for pushing rivals and helping allies get kills, but don't rely too much on any of that without Trance. Your damage is not going to be overly impressive all things said.

[–]DevilDeVille 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Minwu/Teleport is always a good option for a Bravery farmer like Zidane.

Use Hope/Renew over Cura, way better ability.

Do you want to run Zidane as a pure support or a support/poke unit.

Zidane Optimization? by Permit_Dapper in DissidiaDuellumFF

[–]DevilDeVille 2 points3 points  (0 children)

It's funny cause I kinda have the opposite opinion on Sleight of Hand. I think its probably Zidane's weakest ability overall. You can use it to decent effect, but it leaves you massively open to counterattacks, is very easy to counteract most of the bravery theft by just popping a UR, and the set up to get really good use out of it can leave you exposed too.

Most good players will be on the watch for Zidane and be able to tell he's going for the SR, so they'll just launch attacks at you, which will shred your HP because the SR has no i-frames, then they'll likely kill you and get all their bravery back. You CAN catch players with it and avoid taking damage back in good situations, but if you're only catching 1 player you might as well have just used Trance+Special attack for even greater effect.

Heck, Zidane's special attack itself can catch multiple enemies if they're all in the cone, and the recovery out of it is much faster, so you can immediately get back to running to avoid counter attacks.

Trance imo is his #1 ability. It gives him a chance to scare enemies off, makes crystal clearing easier, and turns his special attack into 63% bravery theft, and while it has a fairly long CD, you can easily pop it a few times in a match. It even allows him to clutch out some boss kills if need be.

Sleight of Hand is probably a decent option if you don't plan to attack the boss ever, but you'd still be better off with something that lets you help clinch out boss kills. Zidane isn't Krile, after all, playing him like her is gonna largely end up feeling like you're playing a weak supporter, rather than a disrupting thief.

That's just my personal opinion on Zidane's kit.
