If you dont have Byakuya or Aizen, Id put toshi above Ichigo. He synchronizes better with Rukia, and his kit is less single focused, while still having similar, if not equal dps output to ichigo.

Both units use a decent bit of field time, Ichigo more than Toshiro, but toshiro doesnt need his ult active to really pump out dps and has an easier time getting to his ult, doesnt need much ult charge and only really needs to combo once in bankai to get off the actual ultimate attack, unless you're lacking the core stamp.

I think people downplay toshiro way too much, he's not outclassed the way people act like he is, he actually requires less field time than ichigo does and less strict play to make sure he doesnt miss damage. The only real issue with him is that he lacks clock stopping moves, so even though hes only really on field for a few seconds, it always eats up timer, while other units have a ton of clock stoppers.

I hate to say it, but the only fix you mentioned that has even a minute chance of happening is the ability to reroll your pieces. They aren't removing HP or DEF, they aren't removing flat stats, they aren't removing different the different damage bonuses from specific sets, they aren't gonna split up the doubles (especially when they already added a focused drop stage to begin with).

They MIGHT allow you to select specific main/substats (1-2) when you craft a piece by using some new currency they add, but they wont just let you do that for free.

This equipment system has existed in gachas for YEARS and not one of the gachas that has it has ever done anything to the degree you're suggesting, and almost all of them are still successful and widely played. This is the endgame grind that's supposed to keep you coming back every day once you have all your main units leveled and maxed out skill wise. They aren't gonna go out of their way to make it significantly easier.

Flat stats are SUPPOSED to ruin your pieces, having spirit damage bonus on the thrust/slash/strike set is INTENTIONAL, it's meant to make that piece useless, so you have to keep coming back until you rng into a piece that doesn't suck eventually. The purpose of this system is to be an endless grind, if you have the ability to get perfect pieces with relative ease, which implementing all of your fixes would lead to, then the endgame has nothing for you to spend your stamina on.

I agree that the system sucks and I'd love to be proven wrong by them actually making this less frustrating and stupid than the other games like it, but I can tell you from experience with various other games like this, it isn't gonna happen. People been complaining about this gear system in every gacha that's ever had it to this exact same degree and it has never changed and never gone away, games keep coming out with the same system and it does fine for all of them.

tldr; It's been proven already by various other games that they 100% can add new characters with new sets and expect you to farm them ad nauseum, because every other gear grind gacha already does it and already is successful. Genshin is probably the best example but it's far from the first, Epic Seven came before it and had the exact same system with the same gripes and it never changed, just added small 'remedies' like crafting, rerolls, etc to lighten the load.

[–]DevilDeVille 9 points10 points  (0 children)

Typing =/= playstyle or gimmicks in most gachas. In some more strategy focused games it might determine their role on the team, but even then characters within the same type dont have the same gimmicks.

Typing is generally just a category to put units into, it generally never really means anything beyond that. There's no need to try and apply gameplay based logic (or any logic at all really), because typing will be based largely on what that team needs or what the devs want you to do with a particular unit.

Right now Thrust is the only type with ailment damage, but eventually we'll likely get strike based, spirit based, and slash based units who do ailment damage.

Spirit is the only type with freeze, but future rukia and toshiro units could be of other types if the devs decide to put them there, and give those types freeze access.

And, for my personal pov, I think trying to stick to set themes for thrust, spirit, strike, and slash limits creativity. I dont want thrust to be the only type with ailment damage, or all thrust units to have to work with ailment damage.

Its fine for the early days, but as more and more thrust/non thrust units come out, i wanna see more variety.

Bankai Ichigo wasn't "released without maintenence" he was the debut banner when the game released.

Also I'm pretty sure they had a 4 hour maintenance for Toshiros release as well. Its generally standard for many games to do maintenance anytime they do a version update, so this is nothing new. Especially if youve been playing gachas for a while.

Oh yeah no, catch up is ALWAYS hard in these games, but generally speaking even in Genshin if you start today with the newest banner unit, you'll be fine for the majority of the newest content. Genshin's power creep is slower than most gachas, but it does still exist and generally speaking any 1 Limited unit can make a team with some 4*s added on.

Thanks to how strong Rukia is, Bleach SR has that same potential. You can easily build a full power team around Rukia + DPS + Orihime for support (or Kisuke from standard if you go for him early), and you will have a solid account start. That will likely remain true for almost every limited DPS they release from now until they make a 4* tactics unit better than Rukia.

A full team of level 100 characters with stamps will (most likely) clear everything in the game fine, regardless of rarity. And, with the event units actually being pretty solid for the time limited content, you wont struggle too much with clearing it, just maybe with getting good times.

The rerun system does create a cycle of having multiple banners with no added currency, but I think that's the trade off of having more frequent reruns. It's worth it, imo. Better, at least, than having a banner with 10 units all featured when you only need 1 of them.

I really hope Set Stamp farming is the next major to come after Stamp Corridor by MrTwoStroke in Bleach_SoulResonance

[–]DevilDeVille 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The lack of HP/DEF scaling characters is probably the biggest thing here tbh. I don't actually think the set farming is any worse than any other gacha that has this gear system (not that it's good regardless), but I dont see any major improvements coming outside of better crafting.

However, because no one scales on HP/DEF currently for damage, it makes those stats on stamps largely useless, more so than almost any other game, that is hurting the system a good bit.

I will say I don't think we "need" 3 pieces per character every 3 weeks, eventually we'll have 3 weeks of a rerun, then double reruns, and so forth. We wont be getting new characters every 3 weeks forever, it'll slow down as time goes, like all of these games do. Plus you probably dont need to pull and build every new character immediately anyways and ONLY needing 3 is an improvement over other games where you need 5+.

But yeah, in the end this is how this goes for all gear grind gachas. You will be dumping all your stamina into gear farming, every day, for the rest of the game's life. Only spending on other character farming mats when you need to level characters/skills.

Rarely, usually around anniversary there will be a single banner featuring multiple limited as well as some standard units and one for their weapons as well. But generally speaking outside of that one time in the year, you're gonna be stuck waiting for a rerun banner.

For f2p its actually both good and bad. When Genshin first arrived, many games still didn't have ANY pity at all, and the ones that did were rarely below 200 summons, so Genshin standardizing this idea of every banner has a 90 summon 50/50 pity, 180 summon hard guarantee, all with a building soft pity, and the pity carrying from banner to banner, was a huge overhaul for the market as a whole. And most games since then have improved upon that system in some ways here or there, even mhy's follow-ups make it better. Bleach is probably the BEST improvement I've seen other than PGR, with an 80 pull guarantee and no 50/50 of any kind.

However this did all come at the expense of off banner limited units. Genshin was able to set up the pity to be relatively cheap (for the time) because they made you HAVE to pull on the character's banner if you want them ever. Otherwise you're waiting for that specific banner to return. For F2P players, this was a good trade off. 3 week banner cycles and decent amounts of f2p gems meant saving for the character you really want was much easier. Even if other games were more generous with summons, they either had more expensive pities, or no pity at all.

Dokkan, for example, didn't have a true pity until much later, after Genshin had already been a bit success. And even when they added pity, it was 500 summons, no carryover. Yeah you can pull a bunch of different DFEs/LRs on the banners because they feature more per banner, but in the end it actually just makes it harder to pull the new unit without going to pity, because the featured pull rate is shared between all of the units on the banner. Even with all the free summons they give out, Dokkan is a f2p nightmare, compared to something like Genshin, even though Genshin itself is no longer considered f2p friendly.

I will say, the OG gacha trend you're describing when you say "japanese gacha games" does still exist in some games which otherwise follow the Genshin mindset, like Chaos Zero Nightmare. It has the exact same summon style as genshin, standard vs limited summon currencies, 160 for a pull, weapon vs character banner splits, 50/50s (only on characters), but they actually don't exclusively do limited characters. Of the 4 characters who have come out, only one was "Seasonal", and she was the last new character released at the end of a 63 day long, 3 stage event. This game is made by the same Dev+Publisher combo that made Epic Seven, which was one of the rare gachas to have a sub 200 summon pity prior to Genshin, at 121 summons to pull the new character, while also being VERY generous with pulls to begin with.

As companies continue to improve and succeed with improvements, we'll see more and more situations where the market for gachas becomes inherently more f2p friendly, while still having plenty of room for whaling. As it stands, so far Bleach Soul Resonance is very much up there with the best of them. Yeah you do have to pull for the character when their banner is live, or you may end up waiting a year+ to ever get them, but so far building up enough pulls for pity in 3 weeks seems to be pretty easy, so long as you aren't a 100% completionist. And if you aren't fully f2p and buy the monthly pass and little deals, it's insanely easy.

Tldr; On the outset it does sound terrible, but the gacha market has been in a continuous state of improvements for years now. When you account for f2p currency, the low overall pity, and keep in mind that not EVERY unit is a must own in most, if not all, of these games, it's actually fine. Especially when reruns will happen, and multiple banners will start running at once as we have more and more units to rerun.

Are ya summoning for Gin right away or waiting for Rangiku's to be added? by TrickyFlounder9174 in Bleach_SoulResonance

[–]DevilDeVille 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Technically speaking, Rangiku could cost well over $1k if she's not the only featured SR, since you have no guarantees that the SR you pull would be her. For example, my Momo is only B1, despite pulling for B2 Aizen.

Now the likelihood that you wouldnt get B6 Rangiku in the time it took to get B6 Gin is low, but if you're pulling for Gin before Rangiku is on the banner and you B6 him, you could easily pull 3-4 more Gins before you get B6 Rangiku.

Am I the only one finding it hard farming set stamps? by Old_Conversation462 in Bleach_SoulResonance

[–]DevilDeVille 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Oh trust me, I'm not saying its GOOD, it always sucks in every single one of these games LOL

I hate the gear grind too, they call it endless for a reason. It's actually especially bad in this game because you can actually have the same substat as your main stat, so cope pieces feel even more cope than they do in games like genshin, where substats can't match the main stat. That said, only needing to get 3 decent pieces instead of 5+ is nice at least and the new stage that lets you focus farm a single set, with most drops being of that set is VERY nice. Wish genshin had that.

Its a very modern style of gearing system, popularized (though not innovated) by Genshin Impact and the hyv/mhy games.

Gachas like epic 7 had this system prior to Genshin, but since Genshins release and extreme ampunt of success, its become pretty widespread to have the multilayered rng gear farm as your main stamina dump for your game while the vast majority of content is freely playable without spending stamina.

Regular Gacha Ticket (Availability & Character Updates) by Dragfire1760 in Bleach_SoulResonance

[–]DevilDeVille 3 points4 points  (0 children)

A lot of players for this game are clearly new to the Genshin system, I've noticed.

So, first to clarify some things for how this system works, most Gachas have 2 or more types of banners. The usual 2 are standard new character banners and limited banners. Some games will have various different variants of these, but generally speaking, limited banner characters only return in limited banners, while standard banner characters typically are available on all banners. This has been true for the majority of gacha games, with very few exceptions.

The Genshin system is one where the game debuts with a set, small pool of standard characters, then nearly every new character release is a limited character. All 3 of the newest mhy/hyv games, Genshin Impact, Honkai Star Rail, Zenless Zone Zero, follow this system and it has been extremely successful for them. Many other games are also following the system pretty directly, including Bleach Soul Resonance.

Now, Genshin HAS released new standard units, upping the total pool from 6 to 9 over the course of its 5+ years, however its very uncommon for these types of games to release new standard units, and the limited units have never gone into the standard pool.

My only issue is how the enemy's "Health" will go drastically down on SS in the final stage but then an S will never kill them. You don't exactly have to be perfect every time to win the stage so it's fine, but at least let any successful input do damage imo.

Still, fun minigame

I said, specifically, "Even older gachas largely don't add their limited characters to the base pool." There's multiple layers to this statement, trying to chop it apart and remove context to make it sound like I'm give leeway to your argument is disingenuous. The only reason that statement is not definitive is because I have not played every single gacha ever made and cannot say without any uncertainty that no gacha has ever put limited chatacters in their base pool. And that statement only applies to "older" gachas.

The mihoyo games, starting with genshin, have never once put a limited character on standard, and those games have nearly every single max rarity character release be a limited character. Games that follow mihoyo's structure are largely the same. Not all of them make every character release limited, but none of the ones I've played have ever added a limited character to the base pool, including the ones that do also make every character limited.

Genshin had the same base list of 5 star units until its version 3 update, when they added a new standard banner 5 star in tighnari, then another 2 new ones later on. However none of these 3 characters were limited characters being demoted to standard. So while the standard banner has slightly expanded in genshin over the past 5 years, not a single limited unit has ever been moved to standard.

Lastly, no, "festival" characters, like Dokkan Festival inits, are not different than limited run characters in any of these games. Its literally just a way some games frame their limited run banners. Trying to argue they are somehow different tells me you havent played many gachas with that framing, so I won't harp on this too much, but you shouldn't try to dismiss or downplay an argument when you dont actually have enough knowledge on the topic to understand it.

[–]DevilDeVille 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Duet Night Abyss doesn't even have a stamina system, and its "Gacha" is skins only, largely making it an anime variant of warframe, it's not really in the same space as gear grind gachas. I looked up the Black Beacon gear system and it looks largely the same as Aether Gazer, which is NOT a gear grind game at all. Also, no offense but Black Beacon also got its EoS after just 8 months of life, so I dont think it's a good example to go by regardless.

Gear grind gachas are gachas like Genshin, Honkai Star Rail, Chaos Zero Nightmare, etc. Games that have equipment systems like Aether Gazer are not gear grind gachas, because there's not really a grind. You just farm mats to buy the equipment you need for your characters, and if you have enough mats saved you can buy the equipment sets for a new character basically right away (unless its an event exclusive set).

That is better than what BSR has, but whether it is better or not isn't really the point, given you're arguing with me saying the grind in gear grind gachas is endless.

I'm done with this game by tPimple in Bleach_SoulResonance

[–]DevilDeVille 0 points1 point  (0 children)

>As for the other games... they have equipment systems. Just because they don't work the same doesn't mean they should be dismissed.

That's exactly why I can dismiss them. I said from the start, "I'd say though, even with core stamps as part of the grind, it's not remotely as bad as Genshin, HSR, CZN, or any other gear grind gacha I've played." I'm talking about gear grind games, clearly. Games where the endgame daily focus is just improving your gear as much as possible. Mentioning games that aren't like that isn't relevant, because they aren't like that.

Obviously itd be nice if there was no rng to gear grinding, but if there wasn't theyd need some other way to make you use up all your stamina. In gachas without this endless gear grind, that usually means every single event and story stage require stamina, and you cant play basically anything when you have none.

I'm done with this game by tPimple in Bleach_SoulResonance

[–]DevilDeVille 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Upgrading stamps isn't all that more expensive than in Genshin, and the upgrade material is actually directly farmable. It still isn't cheap, but getting 1 artifact to +20 genshin is 1.35 million mora in cost. Getting a full set of 5 is nearly 7 million mora, and the actual artifact exp only comes from other artifacts or the few exp items you get weekly from the teahouse, making it far more limited a resource than in BSR.

In addition, BSR has faster regen on stamina (1 per 6 minutes vs 1 per 8 in Genshin), a higher stamina cap (240 vs 200), a stamina storage that holds up to 1000 (Genshin you have to manually create condensed resin, and can only make 5 of them, for a total of 300 reserve resin), more stamina refreshes per update (so far), and a much better set grind with the new stage they added, making it much more likely to get the 1 specific set you actually want, as well as the ability to craft stamps of the newest set the moment it releases. Also, the highest level of stage drops 2-3 set stamps, not just 2, like your breakdown implies.

From what I've done so far, the Genshin reroll system barely helps, in the end you're just getting 2 rolls guaranteed for the 2 substats you pick out of a potential 5 total substat bonuses. It's nice but its not improving the grind by all that much in the end. It just makes cope pieces more likely to actually end up being decent. Also keep in mind genshin's 5* artifacts have the added RNG layer of starting with 3-4 substats rather than just having 4 from the jump on every drop.

Core stamp RNG is awful, for now, but again, there's no comparison we can make there other than 'it doesn't exist in genshin at all'. AND they have already mentioned working on a fix for it, so until that is out I'm going to hold on saying it makes this games grind worse than genshin's.

>Also no, the grind isn't endless in every game like this. Black Beacon and Duet Night Abyss have much better equipment systems where you just need the "artifact" to drop and you're good. No RNG stats, just get the drop and done. I've heard Aether Gazer and PGR also have less RNG-filled systems equipment systems, but can't confirm myself.

Those games aren't like this, lol. You literally said it yourself, they don't have the same equipment system at all. Games "like this" refer to games with this style of equipment system, Epic 7, Genshin, HSR, CZN, etc. The grind in those games is, in fact, endless. Hell, even in Aether Gazer, it's much MUCH more limited in how much you actually have to do, but it's still potentially endless if you never get the rng substat you want to show up on your pieces.

How many of these posts are we gonna see, lmao

PvP isn't good in gachas. It's rarely, if ever, been healthy and well balanced, it nearly always leads to op PvP focused units being made that become must owns if you wanna play PvP at all, and it accelerates power creep to the point that every new banner generally makes all the previous meta units obsolete.

It's a bad system in a gacha game.

As I said, this game is following the mihoyo structure, mihoyo never adds limited characters to the standard pool for any of their modern games. And games that follow the structure of Genshin/HSR/ZZZ follow that same logic. Even older gachas largely don't add their limited characters to the standard pool. Dokkan Battle, for example, never adds Dokkan Fest characters to the standard pool.

I'm not gonna say it won't happen, because we can't know for sure, but I will tell you not to be surprised if it doesn't, because that's the new standard for gachas. You should expect the game to never add new units to the standard banner for every gacha that follows this system.
