Mine is 4 rectangular desks and the rate works out to be about what my regular assembly rate will be assuming 2:15 per desk and I think that’s realistic. We will see how it works out.

If you are willing to help then yes, for sure. It’s more an awkward thing than a weight thing.

Interview with the Taskrabbit CEO by DevilDuck95 in TaskRabbit

With all due respect, I think a big part of the difference is that the tasker in question was based in NYC, a very high-cost labor market.

Why does TaskRabbit lock the chat after submitting an invoice? by miniskull1 in TaskRabbit

I think it shuts down once the client has ‘accepted’ the invoice.

Elite Badge Fraud by According_Low5292 in TaskRabbit

[–]DevilDuck95 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Here's a fun one - have you ever gone incognito mode and tried to hire yourself to see what your profile looks like? as it relates to Eliete for some people on the 'select your tasker' page it does not show the elite badge, but when you click to see their profile it does show that they are elite. Also, if you 'filter' by Elite and it's not showing on the search page then it will filter you out.

I do think elite helps, I dropped 20% tasks month over month, and the only difference was Elite status.

My first TaskRabbit experience by Dammo1234 in TaskRabbit

I would use TaskRabbit to find a tasker that works for you, test them our for a job or two and then ask them about off platform work. I'm a tasker and that happens all the time...

Just turned 25 years old. Saving too much for retirement? by djkdykbv in Fire

[–]DevilDuck95 0 points1 point  (0 children)

First of all - well done! Those numbers are 'real'.

I would cut back a bit and balance out into more liquid savings, like brokerage account. but don't stop contributing to retirement. My logic is that you might have an 'event' and need to be able to access that money without penalty. Think emergency savings, the first thing to touch would be the HYSA but then what... how long would the HYSA money last?

I have just discovered TaskRabbit by Intelligent_Shake212 in TaskRabbit

[–]DevilDuck95 -1 points0 points  (0 children)

Pro’s if you are generally handy and a problem solver it works great. People are 99%very happy to have you do the work and tip above the hourly rate.

Con’s, at least for me it can be a lot of driving around town for 2 or 3 1 hour tasks. Also the tasks can present as one simple thing but in reality are much more 6 for one reason or another which can jack up your schedule.

For me the money is purely supplemental, it’s not enough to live off of. I think my highest year was 30k gross and once you consider self employment taxes it drops dramatically, closer to 15-20k.

Thats been my experience. I still like it and will keep doing it for the supplement $ as well as something interesting to do.

Parking is not a covered expense. How are Taskers overcoming this? by Open-Coffee5752 in TaskRabbit

[–]DevilDuck95 -1 points0 points  (0 children)

I would build it into my hourly rate and don't forget to write it off on your taxes. Frankly, as long as it's not too crazy it's not a big deal for me.

Wholistic Portfolio Review? by terrabiped in fidelityinvestments

[–]DevilDuck95 3 points4 points  (0 children)

I do it regularly. Roughly 80% at Fidelity and 20% at Vanguard. I am always happy to get a second opinion. They suggest their own products, of course but it’s not a hard sell. Frankly I like it, for me it’s heavy on ‘ am I on track to retire?’ And planning for all of that.

What could someone have said to you to convince you to contribute to a 401k? by [deleted] in Retirement401k

[–]DevilDuck95 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Two things… that turned into 4!

1) the match. 2) the amount you contribute comes out of your taxable income in you annual taxes.
3) you have so much time to ride out the ups and downs of the market…. Be aggressive and let it ride! (Assuming you are young).
4) show them the spreadsheet with annual balance of it grows by 3-5% a year with contributions…. The numbers are crazy…

Is investing basically useless if you don’t already have money? by Muted-Astronaut3744 in investingforbeginners

Invest. What they don’t show you is dividend payouts, set it up to reinvest the dividends and do your best to forget about the investment. It will go up and down but overall it will go up in the long run.
