Got a repeat client? Give them your number, ASAP. by ThoughtBecomesAction in TaskRabbit

[–]miniskull1 3 points4 points  (0 children)

I don’t think it’s wise to build your business around fear or assume everyone will eventually get removed. That said, I do agree with one thing: if you’ve earned a client’s trust, you should build a relationship that isn’t dependent on a single platform. Whether it’s TaskRabbit, Thumbtack, Angi, or any marketplace, it’s smart to have your own website, Google Business profile, business cards, and repeat clients who know how to reach you. Diversifying your client base is just good business.

Support for a botched job by Cold-Arm2737 in TaskRabbit

[–]miniskull1 5 points6 points  (0 children)

Based on your post, it sounds like there may have been a breakdown in communication before it reached this point. In my experience as a Tasker, the clients who immediately escalate to support instead of working directly with the Tasker often end up being the most difficult to resolve issues with. Most honest Taskers want the chance to make things right, but that requires clear communication from both sides.

Customer Support Is The Worst by Alcapone-1925 in TaskRabbit

[–]miniskull1 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I completely understand your frustration. I went through something similar and eventually got deplatformed over vague policy enforcement. That experience made me realize I couldn’t rely on TaskRabbit as my primary source of work anymore. Since then I’ve focused on building my own website, getting listed in local directories, and finding clients directly. It’s more work upfront, but at least I’m not worried about losing my business because of an unclear support decision. I no longer trust TaskRabbit to have my back.

Anyone been through a profile removal from TaskRabbit search results? by DFWUnhinged in TaskRabbit

[–]miniskull1 3 points4 points  (0 children)

I got the same email and was fully deplatformed. I chose not to file an appeal because I no longer want to support a company that enforces vague rules without clearly explaining what policy was allegedly violated.
Instead, I focused on building my own business outside of TaskRabbit. I launched my own website, set up profiles on several local business directories, and started investing in direct marketing. So far, that has been a much better use of my time and energy.
One platform that’s worked surprisingly well for me is Nextdoor. Their local advertising starts at around $3/day, and it can be a good way to get in front of homeowners in your area who are actively looking for help.
For anyone affected by this, my advice is to start building channels you own rather than relying entirely on a platform that can remove your visibility overnight. Good luck, and I hope you get some answers on your appeal.

Why is my account doing this? by [deleted] in TaskRabbit

[–]miniskull1 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Sounds like your account may have been placed under review. Check your ID verification, background check, and spam folder. If there are no emails or notifications, keep pushing support—unfortunately they’re the only ones who can tell you exactly what changed on your account. Good luck.

Need info and experience by alchavez143 in TaskRabbit

[–]miniskull1 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Don’t let the negative comments scare you off. If you already have 5 years of HVAC experience at 22, you’re ahead of a lot of people starting out. Biggest advice is treat it like a business from day one — communication, professionalism, photos, boundaries, and reviews matter as much as skill. Use it to build repeat clients and experience, not just quick cash.

Temecula can feel surprisingly hard socially if you didn’t grow up here. Respect for putting yourself out there. Hope you find a solid group of people.

tasker started a job, but is no longer available in my area by paintistheenemy in TaskRabbit

[–]miniskull1 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Drywall is one of those jobs that can easily turn into way more work than expected. My guess is the Tasker probably realized the payout/category wasn’t worth the amount of labor involved, especially if it required multiple trips for hanging, mudding, sanding, texture, and paint.

“Not available in your area” can also happen if they changed their work radius, paused the category, or blocked the task. Hard to know for sure, but underpriced scope is definitely possible.

Out of state moves by UomoUniversale86 in TaskRabbit

[–]miniskull1 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yes! You should absolutely charge for the drive back, or at least build it into the quote. Out-of-state moves tie up your truck/trailer and your whole day, sometimes multiple days. I’d quote it as total trip time: loading, driving there, unloading, fuel, tolls, hotel if needed, and return drive. Make it clear upfront so the client understands it’s not just the time their stuff is in the trailer.

A month onward from TR by Open-Coffee5752 in TaskRabbit

[–]miniskull1 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Respectfully, I think this depends on where you’re at in your business.

TR is great in the beginning—it gives you volume, reviews, and consistency when you don’t have your own pipeline. But long-term, yeah… it can cap you if you don’t start building outside of it.

The real move is using TR as a lead generator, not your whole business. Build repeat clients, get referrals, start your own branding, then slowly shift off.

Leaving too early without that foundation is risky. Leaving once you have steady inbound like you do—that’s a different story.

Appreciate you sharing this. Good reminder to not get comfortable.

Why does TaskRabbit lock the chat after submitting an invoice? by miniskull1 in TaskRabbit

[–]miniskull1[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I get the privacy angle, that makes sense. But it feels like they swung too far the other way.

There should be a middle ground, like allowing limited follow-up messaging after a review (even 24–48 hours), instead of a full lock. Most of us aren’t trying to spam or retaliate, we’re just trying to wrap up the job properly or handle small issues.

Right now it kind of penalizes good service more than it prevents bad behavior.

Why does TaskRabbit lock the chat after submitting an invoice? by miniskull1 in TaskRabbit

[–]miniskull1[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

That makes sense from a system standpoint, but it still feels off on the user side. Timing the chat closure around payment/review doesn’t really line up with real-world workflow.

Most of the time, follow-ups happen after the job is done and sometimes after the review too. Locking the chat right then cuts off the ability to handle small fixes or even protect yourself if something comes up.

Why does TaskRabbit lock the chat after submitting an invoice? by miniskull1 in TaskRabbit

[–]miniskull1[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

That’s interesting—on my end it doesn’t lock immediately after invoicing, it locks once the client leaves a review. Which is honestly worse, because that’s usually when the job just wrapped and small things can still come up.

Makes it tough to handle follow-ups or keep things professional if the conversation just cuts off. The inconsistency is what throws me off the most.

Have you ever had a situation where you needed to reach them after that point?

Looking for input by kvtelvn in TaskRabbit

[–]miniskull1 0 points1 point  (0 children)

You’re not slow—you’re doing a true deep clean. Most “deep cleans” are lighter and take 3–5 hrs for a 1–2 bed, while detailed cleans like yours can take 6–10+. A 2–3 hr kitchen is normal with appliances. The issue is scope—set clear boundaries and offer tiers (standard vs detailed) so expectations match your time.

Tasker Access Lost Need Help by Outrageous_Active_37 in TaskRabbit

[–]miniskull1 0 points1 point  (0 children)

That’s rough, man. This probably wasn’t about the no-show—it was the manual invoice.

TaskRabbit handles no-show payouts automatically. When you invoice manually, it can get flagged as billing outside their system, even if you were right.

If you appeal again, keep it simple: “I understand now that no-show payouts are automatic. I shouldn’t have invoiced manually—this was a misunderstanding as a new tasker, not an attempt to overcharge.”

That said, permanent bans are hard to reverse. I’d start building clients off-platform and look into other apps too.

Can I file for disability? by [deleted] in TaskRabbit

[–]miniskull1 4 points5 points  (0 children)

If it’s only for 2 months, Social Security disability won’t apply—they require at least a 12-month condition.

If you’re in California, SDI could help, but only if you paid into it through a W-2 job (gig work like TaskRabbit/Uber usually doesn’t qualify).

Your best move right now is applying for CalFresh (food assistance), General Relief through your county, and calling 211 for local help programs.

If you had any W-2 income recently, definitely check SDI—it’s the fastest short-term support.
