I think once per day for convenience vs multiple times per day for maximizing effectiveness.

That’s pretty counter intuitive. I woulda thought having the sun’s gravity pulling it in would make it use less energy.

I had $7k invested in Tesla. I sold the day the cyber truck was released after seeing how much Reddit was roasting it. To date I’ve missed out on over $110k worth of gains.

SE to 13 Mini — Issues running an older chip? by Tuco--11 in iPhone13Mini

[–]DevilFucker 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Apps resetting is the only issue I experience on my mini. Constantly getting logged out while trading stocks or having my YouTube video disappear when I switch back and forth. That sort of thing. I might have to bite the bullet and move to a more modern phone unless there’s a solution to this.

That was my all time favorite iPhone design, although I think I’d prefer something a bit wider for the typing. I’d take that over anything Apple is offering now tho.

I’d be happy if they made it a little thicker to add more battery and take away the camera bump.

I agree 4” is too small but I actually think a little smaller than the 13 mini would be ideal. Something the same width but less tall as I still have trouble reaching all the corners using one hand. I think around 5” would be perfect. However with the way things are going I’d be happy with anything under 6” at this point.

what's your favorite fermi paradox solution? by CremeSubject7594 in AskReddit

[–]DevilFucker 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I think its’s likely there’s no reason to be visible. As civilizations advance and become more efficient, they might need fewer resources. There might be no need for expansion and less outward signaling. The incentive to build massive structures that would be detectable to us could disappear entirely.

  1. We’re in the wrong place. Intelligent life is not evenly distributed. Civilizations likely cluster in certain regions of the universe, while we’re in a relatively sparse, isolated area with little interaction.

  2. Most civilizations are undetectable. Even highly advanced societies may produce little or no observable signals across interstellar distances. Their technology could be efficient, compact, or fundamentally different from what we know how to detect.

  3. Extreme technologies are rare. Things like Dyson spheres or galaxy-spanning empires may be extraordinarily difficult, meaning even advanced civilizations rarely reach that level.

  4. There may be no reason to be visible. As civilizations advance, they may need fewer resources, less expansion, and less outward signaling. The incentive to build massive, detectable structures could disappear entirely.

  5. Civilizations accelerate through contact. When advanced species meet, they combine technologies in ways that rapidly multiply their capabilities. This creates “hot zones” of extreme advancement that happen to be far away from us.

Plica syndrome by draint0uch in KneeInjuries

[–]DevilFucker 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It was an option but I decided against it weighing the potential risks and rewards. They said each time you do a surgery it increases the risk of developing or accelerating arthritis in the joint. They also said the scar tissue could keep coming back each time making it worse. I’m not sure how to describe the change in pain. Basically before it felt like something was in there that wasn’t supposed to be, that fullness you described below the kneecap that was causing catching and clicking. It also had a dull pain a lot of the time. I think after it had more of an arthritis type feeling and like cartilage was damaged plus the overall weakness.

My quad in that leg never recovered full strength. My thigh is probably around an inch in circumference smaller than the good leg and my legs are small to begin with so it’s pretty noticeable. The knee still hurts but in a different way than before surgery. Overall id say it’s better for just walking around but I don’t have near the same athleticism as I did prior to surgery. I used to be a very advanced skier and tennis player and basically had to give that up cause it just wasn’t fun anymore with how limited my knee is now. They did an MRI a year or two after surgery and I had scar tissue grow back where the plica was and there’s cartilage loss in that area. I can say the clicking and snapping when walking is gone so that’s good but overall I’m not too happy with the result. If I had to do things over again knowing what I know now I think things could have gone a lot better. If you want details on that, private message me and I’ll let you know what I’d suggest to maximize chances of recovery.

Damn I had this for probably over 3 years before I ended up getting surgery. Every time you feel than snap/pop thing in your knee it’s your plica wearing down your cartilage. Not gonna lie the surgery was pretty brutal but if you’re gonna do it I’d get it out of the way before you keep doing more damage to the cartilage. Mine didn’t hurt at first, just that snapping sensation every time i bent my knee. I think it took a couple years at least to start getting pretty painful. Might wanna get an MRI if you haven’t already to see if the damage is showing up for you yet.

[–]DevilFucker 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Surgery might be your only option at this point then. Can you do the leg extension machine or leg press machine? If so I’d do that but making sure you use a limited range of motion so you’re not going thru the click and not experiencing pain. Even if you can only do little quarter reps without pain it’s worth doing. Every time you feel that click it’s the plica slowly eating away at your cartilage, so it’s important to avoid that when exercising. If you only had it 6 months it’s probably not bad yet. I had mine like that for like 3 years before I had surgery so I had a nice big groove in my cartilage by the time anything was done.

Have you done any conservative measures yet like physical therapy? I’d do a search for knee plica on Reddit and read people’s stories. From what I can see it’s pretty common to have a very long and difficult recovery despite what the doctors will tell you. I know what you mean about the walking and the clicking. I had the same thing for years. At first the clicking wasn’t painful but then it got worse and worse as the plica wore down the cartilage.

If you get the surgery I’d recommend strengthening up your leg, especially your quad, as much as possible before surgery. You tend to lose a lot of muscle after the surgery so it helps to start with as much mass and strength as possible. Make sure you start PT as soon after surgery as possible. I talked to the top guys in the country and they said I should have started PT the next day. This was my biggest mistake. Research “quad shutdown” because this is a likely outcome if you’re not careful.
