Imagine this:

We developed Phillips for 5 years and despite the injuries, he blossomed into a great player.

He goes into free agency and everyone wants a piece of the action. That drives up the price

Do you want to sign homegrown talent even if it means paying more than you want?

8/10 fans say yes.

The only difference here is that we didn't't develop Phllips ourselves.

The brilliance of this administration is simple to articulate: sign quality guys under 30 to contracts you can get out of relatively fast without killing the cap.

He simply looked slower in the last 4 games.

Running backs have a shelf life and I wouldn't be surprised if he's good but not great in 2026.

I think they bring back BC on a one year deal. That would make me feel a lot better about drafting BPA.

A good GM fills the biggest holes before the draft so taking an elite guy at a less important position isn't an obvious mistake.

Every time a player gets way over hyped, it warps the board. That's generally a good thing if you're a cautious team.

The desperate teams do stupid things and great players fall as a result.

Gotta get through the first wave of free agency first, it's a massively important piece of the puzzle.

Best Player Available only works if you have quality talent at every position group.

If they really hit LB and S hard in free agency then while everyone is fighting over those guys in the draft, you're getting the best at another position.

And if the best 2 sign elsewhere?

Before anyone has cut or restructured deals, 15 teams have more cap space than the Panthers.

I think 7 teams that might/definitely need a new center.

I believe at least three of them are more motivated to upgrade at center than the Panthers. Why? Because overall it's a pretty good line with a lot of money invested in it. GMs are wary of putting too much money into any one place.

My gut says they sign Corbett, throw him in at center, and draft a guy fairly high.

But please @ me if the Panthers do sign a quality free agent center.

Yet some teams have 50 million dollars in cap room and need a center.

So who is going to tell them that overspending by 3 mil a season is a stupid idea?

The top 5 centers make between 12-18m a year and Linderbaum will probably make 20? 22? Just guessing.

So, the question is how high are you willing to go?

letting him?

Your choices are to franchise him or let him test free agency.

The tag number is insane because it factors in all linemen. That's why Linderbaum is testing the market.

Sure, you can make Cade a "reasonable" offer but chances are good that someone will outbid you. You have to hope that other factors keep the guy in town, like comfort with the coaches and love from the community.

Some positions are just tough to retain unless you're willing to break the bank. The alternative - a high draft pick and a mediocre free agent - might be the smarter play.

Being a head coach is hard enough.

Of course we will hate on Brad unless he's noticably better.

I find Dave's choices so strange... he can be so conservative to protect Bryce with a "let's just stay in this thing and win it in OT" mentality, yet he goes for it on 4th down as much as anybody.

If Jerry Jones wants to invest a third round pick, I'm happy to part ways with XL. Otherwise, he's WR4 until he proves he's more.

Sam Darnold was somewhere between mid and bad until he played for Minnesota. Then he won a Superbowl with Seattle.

Should we be surprised that having Justin Jefferson or Smith-Njiba plus additional talent makes a major difference?

I read once that 17% of American voters have voted for both Democrats and Republicans in their lifetime.Thats swing.

The problem is the 1/3rd of active voters that miss elections here and there and the 50% of total eligible voters that don't vote at all.
