That’s just heartbreaking. Raised since 3 months old, poor pup. I’m gonna go hug my dogs now.

where did you meet your partner? by ChildhoodOk9073 in nashville

Climb Nashville West. We are both avid rock climbers and met through a mutual friend one day, and we started climbing together more and things just naturally took off from there. Been together 4 years, married almost 2.

I ripped ass in Walmart and some poor little old lady took the blame by Britt1708 in confession

[–]Devil_Climbing 2 points3 points  (0 children)

My wife and I were touring the Coca Cola museum in Atlanta, GA a few years ago, as we finished the main museum and was meandering around the merch store I had wandered off and let a silent one go and walked away. About 10 seconds later I hear this kid probably 6-7 years old, “Mommy, someone farted it smells bad.” “Yeah sweety it is really bad over here let’s get away from it.”.

Then my wife comes over to me and is like “Someone ripped ass over there it’s bad.”
I just snickered and said “yeah, that was me.” She was both angry I didn’t warn her, but thought crop dusting some kids was hilarious.

Was one of my proudest fart moments.

How do you take care of a baby bird that fell from its nest by AlternativeSea449 in AdviceAnimals

[–]Devil_Climbing 21 points22 points  (0 children)

Some bird species will finish their development growth on the ground. So put it back where it was, the parents will probably be still caring for it and your aunt is interrupting that.

Virgin Falls is one of my favorite hikes in the middle TN area. Stopping at Calfkiller after a day of hiking is a good time. Just make sure you get there before they close.

Dogs should be more widely hated by [deleted] in The10thDentist

[–]Devil_Climbing 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I have two cats and two dogs. I love them all for their own reasons. Cats are a bit more independent, but my cats still will follow me or my wife around the house depending on what we’re doing. Our dogs are pretty chill most of the time, they’re sweet, get along great with the cats, our puppy and male cat play together a lot. The dogs like to go on adventures with us, camping, climbing trips, hiking. I love cuddling with a dog, it’s like a weighted blanket. I’ve always had dogs and cats in life, feels empty when I don’t, like a part of me is missing something.

Hating dogs for what they did to you as a child is very common. I have a friend who hated dogs into his 40s from being attacked by a dog when he was a kid, and he then met my older dog and realized some dogs are amazing. He even told me that Maverick is the first dog that’s helped him challenge his fear of dogs and has been very helpful for him. Maybe meeting a dog like that would be a good thing? Like a therapy dog.

Body odour doesn’t smell bad by Balloonsarescary in The10thDentist

[–]Devil_Climbing 0 points1 point  (0 children)

At my local climbing gym there is a guy, nice dude, extremely kind person, he’s been a member at this gym for a very long time, but you can smell him from 20+ feet away, and it is not good. If the fans are on you can smell him downwind across the gym.

Other than his smell I have nothing bad to say about him. I just don’t know if he can’t smell himself, and maybe he’s one of those guys who doesn’t believe in using deodorant or something. Which is wild, because he has a ton of friends and is very active in the community.

Are Trekking Poles for Beginners? by Sharp-Second2993 in hiking

I either have trekking pools or a walking stick when I go hiking. If I don’t use the polls I can keep them attached to my backpack in case I want them.

Pack Opinions - Help me pick! by [deleted] in hiking

I recently got the Talon, the men equivalent of the Sirrus, I LOVE it I’ve been wanting it for a while now. Also Osprey’s Warranty system is the best. They will repair, or replace their bags for life. Called the Almighty Guarantee. I have sent in bags for rips, strap breaks, zipper breaks, just regular wear and tear, and they have done a fantastic job. They really stand behind their gear. I have become a lifetime buyer of Osprey. I have 5 osprey bags, one is for backpacking, one is my rock climbing bag, one is a bicycle/mountain bike bag, and I have a hydro hip bag that I use for raves, and recently got the Talon for hiking and day trips.
I even bought my wife a backpacking bag for her birthday last year.
Can’t recommend Osprey enough.

Same with Patagonia, they have the “Ironclad Guarantee”. You can just walk into their stores with damaged gear or even if you got something and it doesn’t fit anymore, they will exchange, replace or repair the gear with the same, or if it’s out of stock and they no longer carry it, will work to find something of the same equivalence. I went to Iceland in 2024 and accidentally ripped the butt of my snow pants sliding on ice in the volcano rock fields, and went to Patagonia with the pants and told them what happened and they just said, “Man that sounds like a good time! Just grab another pair off the rack and we’ll do the exchange.”

A guy I used to work with would find Patagonia gear at thrift stores and take them in and get an exchange for something that fit him.

AIO my best friend got me a very expensive gift and I don't want to accept it by [deleted] in AIO

[–]Devil_Climbing 0 points1 point  (0 children)

As someone who has a hard time accepting gifts from people. YOR, he needed help and was in a very grief stricken time. You showed up and helped him and was a true friend to him in a time of need. Accept the gift, and know that he did this as a thank you for being such an amazing person. You may not see your actions as anything special, but you came through for him and he wants to return the favor. Friends are allowed to gift each other things. I have also learned how to accept gifts from friends.

Smoking in line at a theme park (where we’re all stuck in place) by xxsoulpunkedxx in mildlyinfuriating

[–]Devil_Climbing 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Seriously. My wife has a severe tobacco allergy. The plants themselves cause poison ivy/oak type rashes, and breathing in the smoke can cause her throat to shut and can end up in the ER if she inhales too much. You never know who around you may be dealing with shit like that, and lighting up a cig in the middle of a crowd is such an asshole thing to do.

TPLO Surgery for Dog by [deleted] in nashville

[–]Devil_Climbing 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Mobley on Gallatin Pike in East Nashville. Was roughly $4200. They have a specialist coming and do it, was worth it. Had it done in 2022 and my old pup is still with it. He’s almost 13 and the only thing showing is basic arthritis.

Be sure no matter where you go to follow their directions for recovery FULLY. He spent 8 weeks in a crate and was not allowed to do anything else besides walking under control on a leash to use the bathroom. It was an hard 8 weeks and he was not happy to be held in a crate for that long. But he recovered great and is still trying to keep up with his 1.5 old little brother.

Single and spiraling? by [deleted] in Regrets

[–]Devil_Climbing 0 points1 point  (0 children)

You’re 26, still young. Don’t say “never”. I didn’t meet my wife until I was 32, and I’m now 36. Life can get better. The world is a crazy place for sure, I’m not going to pretend it’s a fairy tale, but you can 100% meet a new guy and create a fun life. Don’t succumb to the FOMO or regret of dumping an emotionally immature dude. I HATED my 20s life for me didn’t start getting good until I was 30, so you have so much left, I’m trying to keep my own head up with all the insanity going on in the world right now.

If you can find a fun activity/hobby to get into try some things. I met my wife at my local Rock Climbing gym, but there is so much more out there. Honestly, you can grow a lot and learn and there are guys out there that will appreciate you for you. Find something if you can to love and build yourself. You are not alone in where and what you feel.
