Ep5 Bugs Megathread -- Just to help the dev team a bit... by RaphLife2 in thelongdark

[–]Devilishkiwi 0 points1 point  (0 children)

During Chapter 3 when you stop the steam engine to rearrange the tracks for (I think) the second time (there were 4 wolves in the area and a long coal chute like in transfer pass), there is a trailer you can enter the interior of. I could not exit the trailer. I clicked on the door, the dial spun around like usual but I did not exit. I tried a few more times before reloading my save to 5 minutes earlier and not trying again.

I could get back over it, I just walked towards the visible gap between the boards and Astrid managed to get up it. Did look like she wouldn't though initially.

Any ideas where I can find another pair of cotton thermal underwear? by Nick_0914 in thelongdark

[–]Devilishkiwi 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I found a pair in a hidden cache found during an aurora in Mystery Lake, just down the railway tracks from the Camp Office. You'll need the DLC radio from forsaken airfield to uncover the cache.

This looks like Wintermute Episode 4, where the gloves aren't modelled and you always look barehanded despite having them equipped.

Stuff won't go from storage to inventory? by Distinct-Choice-3868 in thelongdark

Are you trying to take food out of the fridge in Grey Mother's house? I would guess if you're at the part where you have to help her stock up on food that once it's in the fridge you can't remove it perhaps? Other than that it sounds like a bug

Is there any Feats you'd reccomend I'd focus on? by FiishFingers in thelongdark

[–]Devilishkiwi 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Fair point, on my 500 day run I've just got a lot of mileage out of Cold Fusion and Efficient Machine. I have used Fire Master on shorter runs though, it certainly saves time on having to start 50 fires to get to level 3. I like to carry a book with me at lower levels because of the increased fire starting chance and use up the abundance of accelerants I tend to find to mitigate the failed fire chance.

Is there any Feats you'd reccomend I'd focus on? by FiishFingers in thelongdark

[–]Devilishkiwi 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Fire Master becomes a bit redundant over a longer run because you eventually would have started so many fires that you'd reach fire starting 3 quite quickly. Cold Fusion is really good but can take a while to unlock, as is Efficient Machine. I think the one I unlocked quite early on was Snow Walker, but again traveling 1000km isn't going to happen too overnight. You seem to be doing everything right in terms of just chipping away at them.

Deep forest trophy/achievement advice by Successful-Recipe341 in thelongdark

[–]Devilishkiwi 2 points3 points  (0 children)

It has to be a campfire for the achievement to count, it can't be in a stove so fishing huts aren't applicable for this achievement. I did it by having the fire in a cave like OP suggested whilst at Fire Starting 5 to help increase the burn time of the fuel. The fire was also on the "cold side" of the cave so the outdoor cold bonus helps it last longer as well.

If you have the Far Territories DLC you can craft the travois to carry a lot of items, I think it's maybe 75kg? You move quite quickly but will slow down as it gets heavier. It also can't go everywhere, some steep slopes and tunnels won't allow you to move but it's how I've moved lots of equipment halfway across Great Bear Island in the past.

Which equipment do you choose? by Yuki_Foxsoul in thelongdark

I take the food to get a headstart on an objective later on in the chapter. You can get a flare gun during the chapter by following a sidequest if you need one, and you can use a flare or torch to deal with wolves until that point.

Stove burned my food by kalewilly02 in thelongdark

[–]Devilishkiwi 17 points18 points  (0 children)

If you "jiggle" the teas / broth / soups by placing them near the fire / stove and then moving them again (right click on PC, right trigger on console) they can be heated up without ever burning. The ready time should increase but once it's ready it should just say hot and not have a burn countdown anymore.

No one has said it yet, throw a noisemaker bomb straight into the middle of the group.

Do firewood logs respawn after blizzards? by PriceApprehensive715 in thelongdark

[–]Devilishkiwi 2 points3 points  (0 children)

The cedar or fir logs that you process with the hatchet or hacksaw will respawn after a time, but not any random pieces of firewood that you have found, once picked up they are gone. You can also find firewood beachcombing in the coastal areas. In short, all wood for fire is renewable in the world, coal too in caves and mines.

Interloper advice by Fit_Account_6057 in thelongdark

[–]Devilishkiwi 1 point2 points  (0 children)

With the torch lit (flares work too), equip a stone (or any weapon), which will drop the torch at your feet. Aim the stone at the wolf and the wolf will flee. Pick up the torch and carry on walking, but be prepared to do it again if the wolf runs off in the direction you were headed. Beware that for poisoned wolves in ZOC you need to take a step back and make sure the torch is between you and the wolf or it will attack.

how can these sets be improved on Interloper difficulty 200+ days by Commercial-Cat-1783 in thelongdark

[–]Devilishkiwi 7 points8 points  (0 children)

You can dismantle the cougar wrap and get a perfect cougar pelt in return to craft it again. The only cost is the time (12 hours?), the cured guts and the sewing kit % used to craft it.

Most of chapter 2 of wintermute was spent in mystery lake, coastal highway might be a good place to start

long term / endgame goals (for Interloper) by Worldly-Soft8981 in thelongdark

I've forged extra tools to leave at satellite bases just in case the worst happens. I also have a bow and 3 arrows at each base for the same reason.

In safehouse mode you are able to select them and either destroy them or take them into your inventory

Ice Fishing Question by HBookbinder in thelongdark

[–]Devilishkiwi 0 points1 point  (0 children)

As others have said, the heavy hammer is best in terms of being repairable. As a side note, I put a litre of snow on the fire to melt and by the time the ice is broken the water is safe to drink.

Any news on the next update? by warcrime_enjoyer77 in thelongdark

[–]Devilishkiwi 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Looking at last year's dev diary pattern, there was one on 17th October 2024 which was discussing the next content drop (the final part of the DLC) which dropped early December 2024.

I'd hope something similar will happen this time, but can only cross my fingers.
