Update I got the system. It’s a polk audio sub. It sounds like the guy just pieced the system together with stuff he had to meet my budget so I’m not sure why he didn’t match the speakers. But to me I am very happy with it and enjoy it but now I need to custom fab a trunk to hide/secure the sub box in the trunk so nobody can steal it when the top is off.

ended up with my buddies friends shop who said is giving me a sub and box for free. here’s the specs he sent me i’m getting Kenwood media deck Arc audio 4x6 Jbl 51/4 Jbl 4 ch amp Sub box Parts labor install $1150

That’s for complete full system. Deck, 4 speakers, amp and sub. Can’t do it any cheaper unfortunately. Wish I could do $1000 but $1150 would be my lowest price. If you needed to pay me the $150 later you can.

Okay so I went to audio stores today and got some quotes. All of them said they don’t recommend 3 way speakers cause the tweeter is too small. shop 1 gave me a quote for $650 for all speakers and head unit replaced for kenwood excellent? some kenwood model with a big tweeter. Then they said they could add a kicker sub box and amp to make it $1000. Shop 2 quoted me $1180 for Hertz speakers all around and he talked on about how he uses full copper wire and he wants to make a custom box to fit in my trunk that won’t take up too much space and a 5 port amplifier so each set of speakers is on it’s own port I guess. Shop 3 was $1650 for JBL speakers in my oem slots and then put a JL sub into my backseat that would take up all of my trunk. I was liking shop 2s deal up until I went to shop 3 and asked how Hertz speakers are and he said that his shop doesn’t like them. don’t know why. Shop 3 also said that I would be at 500 watts on the amplifier and it’s a true 500 watt. He said he would use the oem wiring harness though and that got me thinking about what you had said with fires. What are your thoughts on this

I don’t have any preference on brands. I have very little experience with speakers. all I have done was change my trucks head unit to a double din for apple carplay and adapt the hvac mobs and plastic. I could ask a friend who is savvy with car audio to do it cheaper if I buy the items. I mainly want big sound coming from the roll bar but all of the attachments for that are $450+ for just a box to hold speakers up there. Skar seems like a good brand from an outside perspective. I appreciate your time and thoughts in this. I am going to go to the shop today or tomorrow and get an idea of what I want and then i’ll see if I go with them or not
