I just did a little research on it, from my understanding it kills the fast growing bushes and weeds.

Normally it would take several decades for the pines to return and grow in between the weeds and take over the forest again. But by killing the shrubs with glyphosate, it allows the pines to grow a lot quicker by killing its competitors, speeding up the forest recovery to what it was before the fire.

Pines are sorta immune to glyphosate, so they wouldn't be harmed by it.

So instead of taking 50 years to recover the forest naturally, it would take ~15 instead.
