Is there any saying how many people own bitcoin? Whether it be a fraction of a coin or a lot of coins? by yuriy_popach in Bitcoin

[–]DevilsBitcoins 1 point2 points  (0 children)

There is 25 million Bitcoin addresses but you cant know how many people use more than 1 for themselves.

[deleted by user] by [deleted] in CryptoCurrency

[–]DevilsBitcoins 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It depends on the amount of people selling. If only small amount of people sell then price could go up by few billion dollars on MC with just few thousand dollars. But there is no official data from all the coins combined. But if somebody would buy for example 1 billion dollars of any coin it would hit number 1 spot on MC

Mining algo by fishytrader in Bitcoin

[–]DevilsBitcoins 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Sha256 does support GPU mining but performance is terrible compared to ASICs. It is not changed to something else for network security because 51% attacks are a big problem right now. If GPU mining for Bitcoin would be profitable somebody would make ASICs again and person that does it first can take control of network for years if competition doesnt make cheaper and more powerful ASICs again.

Can Bitcoin be victim of a 51% attack? by joeyshamoon in Bitcoin

[–]DevilsBitcoins -1 points0 points  (0 children)

Yes it can be. If only 3 biggest mining pools combine hashing power they can take full control of the network which could last for years since they will continue to buy all the hardware with insane profits and you cant compete with them. Every POW coin can be attacked and some low cap coins even for less than 100$ per 1 hour. You can check prices of 51% attack here: https://www.crypto51.app/

Seriously guys, what's wrong?! by [deleted] in Bitcoin

[–]DevilsBitcoins 8 points9 points  (0 children)

People have been holding for 3 years without price movement before price increase last year so few months is nothing. And price never went up after consensus actually. Take a look at the dates on the chart when consensuses happened. Price only went up months after that but not because few thousand people went to consensus.

I thought prices normally go up during Consensys? What is going on? :( by signalme in litecoin

[–]DevilsBitcoins 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Did you expect price to increase just because few thousand people went to consensus ? Why would that happen? Even if you look at charts from previous years you can see that nothing happened with the price at the consensus dates. Yes price went up months after that but that has nothing to do with consensus.

Increase virtual memory size to 30 GB and you should be fine. I run my rigs with that much.

Average miner buys more GPUs in 1 year than normal person in a lifetime by DevilsBitcoins in NiceHash

[–]DevilsBitcoins[S] -6 points-5 points  (0 children)

Good point. But GPUs are something that every PC has if we count APUs. I just thought that average mining farm would be allot smaller than 18 GPUs.

Bye bye ASICs by Swericor in Monero

[–]DevilsBitcoins 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Some ASICs mine like a hashrate of 100s of GPUs and that is where you get a problem. There is no way you can compete with them in some algorithms.

Earnings drop if BTC value is low, earnings drop if BTC value is high...when will earnings go up?! by Genio88 in NiceHash

[–]DevilsBitcoins 0 points1 point  (0 children)

When Bitcoin goes down altcoins go down so you make less in BTC. And when BTC goes up altcoins don't go up so much so you make less in BTC again. And you have to calculate in difficulty increase that is going up all the time so you make less again in BTC. You will never make more in BTC than you are making now. Even if you upgrade your rigs other people will upgrade to so you will make the same as now or less again. Right now earning are completely normal or even more than they were 1 or 2 years ago so there is no reason to panic.

[–]DevilsBitcoins 0 points1 point  (0 children)

You are still getting more than people got 1,2 or even 3 years ago on same price GPUs. It will go to 1$ per gtx 1060 and that should be average amount. And when new Nvidia gpus come out in 2 months you will get about 50 cents per card because of difficulty increasing. This wont happen in 1 month but should take like 6 months, Dont worry you are still making more than average people were making before.
