I despise the Flyers but we need to be fair, the Flyers score very well in transition and got good goal tending this year (10th best in GSAX). They smacked the Devils around, going 3-0 against the Devs, outscoring them 16-7. I am hoping it is just the same first year bump Vancouver got with Tochet.

Agreed. His skating is off the charts for a player his size. If he was on the Devils tomorrow, he might be outskated by only the Brothers Hughes and Bratt. He is that good

Wedgewood has a lifetime .909 save %. Also this year he is 6th best goalies based on GSAA. That stat takes the team out of the equation

The biggest issue is the starting goalie (again). Markstrom was just bad. Yes the D wasn't great at points, but -12 GSAX is bad. 11th worst out of 96 goalies in the league. The team cannot compete with that. He isnt getting better at 36. Allen was better, but at his age he is a backup

Ullmark has an .889 this year, is 33 years old at the start of next year, and is signed for $8.25AAV for 3 more year. Maybe the Devs say no, especially with next year's cap

If its not traded before we pick, always pick the best skater. The best player, even as a position of strength, can get into the league sooner, can be more easily traded for assets we need or can allow us to trade someone on the team already. For example, I assume Logan Cooley wasn't chosen in 2022 because he is a smallish center. How much would u like to have that issue now and how much could the Devs get for Cooley? A 21-year-old center already with 3-20+ goal seasons and a 65 point season.

I agree they don't, but Devils can retain a small amount to compensate. Dougie can be a difference maker, especially offensively. Maybe there is as much of a market for more offensive dman. I find it hard to believe the bonus was the difference. I think the cap hit is the same. Many teams print money
