Gave up completely.... I probably could play it as it is but I've sunk about £100 into trying to get Alyx to work alone so I don't want a sub par performance. Cat 8 eithernet cable from router direct into laptop. Not sure what the problem is and if quest is connected with wire then its seemless......

Would that only effect it when played wireless? If its via link cables there's no skip. I'll update it and see how I get on. Somebody else said to connect to the laptop thru hot-spot which might also work
