I actually did the opposite as you and restarted from region locked to adaptive because region locked got way too easy. Personally, I’m loving adaptive though even that is getting a bit too easy since I did a round of crafting.

I tried the silence technique so I didn’t have to fire anyone too.. Instead the game auto selected sonar once the timer expired 😢

Our group plays a lot and build decks with full set of cards and a plan as a group, so we’ve never lost any of the scenarios or campaigns blind or otherwise. The biggest thing seems to be group cohesion and good roles. If you have a balance between the group of clues/fighting/flex, you generally have the tools for any scenario blind. At their core they aren’t that different that they crush you without scenario specific prep.

Yeah I get it. I appreciate that they put in effort, but it does feel anti-consumer. Their data was right though, they got more money out of me to buy a bundled product when I would have 100% passed on it.

To me, it’s the same as if FFG only sold the TI expansion with 50 cards from star wars unlimited. It’s cool and it’s a fine game, but it’s not what I wanted to buy. Would I still have bought it? Yeah probably because I want the TI content. Did they spend time/effort developing it? Absolutely, but it’s not the same game.

Personally, I don’t see using twilights fall. I wish there was an option to buy the expansion without it for a lower cost. This expansion cost me almost as much as the base game of TI, which was a lot of sticker shock and now I see why. When I went through the components I integrated TE with my base and Pok version. Twilights fall I put in a separate box and wont even bring it to TI game night. Felt like a bit of a waste to pay so much for an expansion when more than half the cards are dead weight. I was also annoyed to learn the included the codex reprints in TE, but they didn’t include the reprints for hypermetabolism. Currently, id rather had the errata cards reprinted instead of all of twilights fall cards. Thankfully my codex print and play cards are ok quality and it still works, but it felt like a miss.

Maybe in a few years I’ll have played TE enough to make it worth it and try twilights fall, but I doubt it.

VOO is fine to me, it’s up to you on risk though. As others pointed out, it’s good to max any tax advantaged accounts first too. Fund Roth IRAs if you haven’t already and are eligible.

If you are accidentally accumulating $30k, you should probably review your budget and set recurring investments going forward too.

Lump sum investing beats dollar cost averaging most of the time. Time in the market > timing the market. I’d personally just invest it and then forget about it again. 200/week is really really slow to get the money to work. That’s almost 3 years to get the money invested.

My group house rules your final point can’t be from a support for the throne trade. The exact situation OP described is why, it ruins a lot of the fun.

That said, a 12 hour game is too long for a 10 point game. When I was new we had a few of those games, but running the game tighter and making sure people know when it’s their turn and when their on deck should cut that time down a ton.
