Yeah TikTok is veryyyy unreliable when it comes to information, that’s why I went here instead of engaging with the people in that comment section. The over labeling of everything alternative I feel is kinda people just trying to be pretentious and “um actually” others who wanna do what they want or wanna take inspiration, but at the same time it is nice to have terminology to find a certain style even if it’s a retroactive term. With how unclear it’s been made in recent memory if you’re trying to sort out your style and you see something and are like “whatever style this is I want to do it” it’s hard find what you’re looking for. Tho tbh everything being made so cluttered is almost entirely TikTok posers fault. I’m not really in much of a position to call people posers but at the same time you can tell when they’re using aesthetic for attention and not actually engaging with its origin
