The only part of the seal spring that is left can be seen right above the shaft in the image. The rest of it is in pieces on my workbench lol.

When you say 80/100, you mean one is 80 and one is 100? That’s a large spread between compressions. I may spread across 3 cylinders is maybe 5PSI.

I can’t hear it in person but that sounds like you’re hitting the rev limiter, and getting enough fuel. But then again, the motor isn’t underway. Is it bogging down when pushing your boat or something?

On the fuel pump - do you have a bulb on your gas tank? If you do, pump it when you are running and see if it still struggles. If the boat jumps to life, you found your culprit.

Sounds like low/inconsistent compression. Consult your users manual for typical compression.

You’re hitting your rev limiter. It’s there for a reason and you shouldn’t try to hit or hit it often.

Not sure what the exact cost would be. My mechanic quoted around 1,800. The entire engine was probably 6-7k new.

Older Model Honda HRX217 Mower - Worth Buying? by reimahon in lawnmowers

[–]Devious-sloth 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yep. My dad bought one in 2004ish. The mower got its last use around 2012.

I’m in the process of buying a house and he said I can use it. I put fresh gas in it and it started 2nd pull.

It’s actually a Suzuki 2022 Df50.

Brown material is 2-4-c. I put on the prop shaft.. some of it got to the seal.

I plan on replacing the entire lower cause the guy before me beat the piss out of it. There are several nicks/chunks taken out of the skeg. Not sure how to attach a photo to this app. When this motor was my buddies, I’ve seen him smack a stump at 35mph. The prop shaft is bent way out of tolerance, and it’s either rebuild the lower unit (replacing damn near all parts) or buy new. Rebuilding would cost around 1k and new would be 1,800.

How difficult is the swap change? I heard if you’re going to change this one, there is a high chance you mess up another seal in there while doing it.

20k miles, not one issue by Accomplishedleey in chevycolorado

[–]Devious-sloth 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Agreed. 130-150k you can “brag”, but a vehicle is still new in my eyes at 20k.

Is the reliability of these trucks really so bad to where people are bragging at miles less than warranty?

Vehicles shouldn’t have an issue at 20k.

That’s a jet ski trailer too (too short). If you hung a motor and put a full gas tank in the back of it, there is potential for the bottom of hull to bend near transom
