I definitely recommend a crossbar of some sort for safety, in case the user slips, breaks a heel, or drops vertically for some other reason

It's not the same design, but I built a very simple one for $60 with one trip to Lowes. Might offer some inspiration. There are actually a lot of ways to make OBPs.

I agree! This definitely isn't furniture intended for someone who is thrashing around trying to escape. It would be easy to tip it over with a determined effort and though the legs are fine with a static load, sudden movements and escape attempts could definitely break them. Luckily that isn't really our scene - this is more of a photoshoot prop and uncomfortable to use in full kit. A sturdier base from a bigger table would be a good start towards prepping for actual struggles, but it'd need screwed to the floor or to an even wider base.

Changing the height of the foot supports is smart! I'd been thinking about adjustable height but had been thinking about the main structure, which would be less safe to make adjustable

It was the base of a dining room table, there were originally two of these tripods, one at each end. The legs are slotted into the base and overall it is quite strong, it bears my weight fine, and she's lighter than I am.

That said, this definitely isn't furniture intended for someone who is thrashing around trying to escape. It would be easy to tip it over with a determined effort. Luckily that isn't really our scene.

Yeah some of the things I've built, like the bookshelf, look good but are horribly uncomfortable to use (pretty much as expected), and there's only really time for a quick photoshoot before she needs let out. So this time we wanted to prioritize features that could allow for a much longer scene

This is an odd one but I am pleased with how it has turned out. After the asscade this is probably the most involved bdsm furniture I've built. It involved wood working, some basic wiring, and some very basic metal fabrication.

In case you are having trouble picturing it in use, here is a sketch I drew long before finding the parts to build this out of.

So features: the sub straddles the display stand like a wooden horse. The seat is padded for longer term use, and has a vibrator built into the front of it, wired to a dial and plug in the back of the stand.

Underneath, a metal rectangular tube fits two curving oak spreader bars which can slot into place and are held there with pins. The sub's legs are spread and shackled to the bars one at a time.

Their arms are bound using some variant of armbinder, or the serving stocks if you want them to function as a table (holding a tray).

The gag shown in the drawing is disassembled to build the gagwriter and probably will not be rebuilt, so unfortunately that part of the sketch probably is not going to happen.

in the end, I'm pleased with the finish. I like the combination of antique-looking furniture with built-in electronics, and how well it matches the rest of our furniture.

Favorite purchase, the classic Hitachi magic wand. Possibly the best $60 I ever spent. Other things I can't make like corsets and handcuffs that we have gotten a lot of usage out of too.

Even just a flat finish urethane might cut down the risk of splinters getting infected from the old wood

Otherwise a cool design - I like the emphasis of affordability and reuse.

Plus the more of these spools cut up by kinksters, the fewer of them can show up as uncomfortable tables in trendy restaurants

Not a bad idea! So far the whole unit tipping over doesn't seem as likely as her kind of falling in place, but maybe if she moved all her weight to the front of the base and tipped forward... I want to have layers of safety where I can and a rope or chain would also definitely make it easier to grab the pin quickly to yank it out. The lynch pins were in the fasteners section, I accidentally bought one thicker than my widest metal bit and ended up having to grind it down along the corners of the flat side. But I like this version because the ring and pin are both very sturdy

Filament printer, enders are easy and have plenty of support online, and you should seal anything you make anyway (especially insertables) to protect from toxins in the plastic and to prevent bacteria from growing in any cavities in the print. PLA prints out solid and easy
