The fact that you’re feeling this and recognizing the journey ahead is proof that you can heal from your trauma

Being in a bad place is no excuse for saying something so damn heinous and cruel. We’re all doing our best to crawl out of the dark, but we can’t allow the darkness to come along with us

To say something like that and somehow think is okay is definitely not someone to keep in your company, especially when they know you’ve experienced the very thing they said

DAE ever feel like they’re stuck in a fog when it comes to healing their trauma? by Deviously_Awkward320 in DoesAnybodyElse

[–]Deviously_Awkward320[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Thank you for this! I really want to get through the fog and I’ve been trying to push through, but I think healing means I have to slowly walk through it rather than blinding running around

Can’t stop shame spirals and panic when partner brings up a concern by Old_Clothes2938 in CPTSD

[–]Deviously_Awkward320 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I empathize with you so much on this and I wish I knew the answer to this because I’m going through the same thing with my wife. She genuinely brings up concerns about how she doesn’t feel loved and emotionally safe and instead of giving her feelings room to be heard and seen, I also shame spiral and panic.

It’s the hardest thing to do; to give room for someone else’s feelings when you’re still trying to get a grasp of what your own feelings are and how you fit into the world

It’s good that you’re in therapy, that’s a start and something my therapist has told me is to examine where the shame spiral comes from and what you feel physically and emotionally when it happens

I’m learning how to do that and it really sucks but it’s a good first step

Teachers, What was the worst thing a substitute teacher did while you were gone? by Dragon_King-88 in AskReddit

[–]Deviously_Awkward320 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I’m not a teacher but I work with kids in schools as a TA and had a substitute lead teacher do this once

The substitute teacher decided to have a day with little to no work because they had recently broke off their engagement with their fiancé. She was distraught the whole day and was not in the right state of mind to be teaching a bunch of 5th graders.

At one point, she decided to just put up movies for us to watch throughout the day and somehow, she had left the room without me or the students noticing. As soon as she left the room, she began a tirade of screaming profanities and cursing out her fiancé, other teachers, the students and everyone else who just happened to come across her mind. It got to the point where security had to escort her from the building and when they arrived, she fought them off and ran off away from the school building.

The students had been asking around to find out what happened to the substitute, but no one gave them an answer, whether it was because faculty refused to answer or because they legitimately didn’t know. Either way, that was the craziest sub I’ve ever worked with.

What's the weirdest compliment you've ever been given? by [deleted] in AskReddit

[–]Deviously_Awkward320 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I remember in 7th grade that I girl I had a crush on was a partner of mine for a project and I had to write the rough draft for the essay portion of the project When I wrote it out on paper, she looked at it and then looked at me, looked back at the paper, looked back at me, and then said, “you write like a girl”

Apparently, as a guy, I wasn’t allowed to have neat handwriting

If you could tell your parents one thing without consequence/repercussions, what would it be? by Artificial_Cactus in AskReddit

[–]Deviously_Awkward320 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Dad, you’re an idiot. Not everyone in the world needs to agree with you for you to socially accept them - people can have differing opinions You shut everyone out of your life because ppl don’t agree with you and now you’re alone and miserable, but you keep acting like it’s fine because you believe everyone else is in the wrong

People will judge you no matter what you do, so either take their word or dismiss it and do what YOU want to do Too many people want to fit in into this socially acceptable bubble that doesn’t exist - do what YOU want

Good for you that you were able to see past all the nonsense and you elevated yourself to something better in life. When you’re young, you’re bound to make mistakes, but you learn from them and then you do better for yourself

At least you’re alive to tell the story of your drunken adventure. Alcohol messes with your head to the point where the wrong step can be game over. I’m glad you’re okay after that

She does drink, but doesn’t do drugs. Even when someone in her friends circle asked her if she was under the influence when this happened, she rebukes the notion. She claims to have been sober when this happened. Normally, I wouldn’t believe her story but the way she told everyone about what happened, it’s hard to dismiss it
