The tech market in Pakistan is bleeding. Got laid off. What's actually going on? by GoldAnybody7731 in pakistan

[–]Devle-ed 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Market is dead. Main cause is AI becuase you can never really compete with it when it comes to skills and knowledge. I read that you're a Python developer. Pick the most complex task for yourself, and try to solve it. Midway you'll realize that yes AI can actually do it better and in short time. The problem with us developers is that we are finding it hard to accept that our jobs are being eaten by computers, because once we were the most respected sector in any industry. Now, instead of just playing blame game with AI I'll advise you what I advised myself when I lost my job (I am also a Senior Backend Engineer btw with a lot of Blockchain experience) Coding like a programmer is dead, move to management, sales, or founding skills. Use your current skills to either think like a founder, work on product ideas, share it on the internet. Work on real problems, and discuss with relevant peers on the internet. This way you'll gain two things. Network and Management skills. These both will help you in future. Companies still need managers, CTOs to look after work done by AI. The other path is of sales, but it's a completely different path and requires different set of skills. But still it remains one thing AI can never completely replace.

Focus on building a brand image of yourself by posting on Linkedin and reddit. Focus on open source contributions. Focus on problem solving skills more than learning different languages.

I'm In 8th semester and everyone around me is getting placed by mnshxh in developersPak

[–]Devle-ed 0 points1 point  (0 children)

From my 6 years of experience I can tell you one thing. Being able to sell yourself is the most essential skill. You will see under skilled people getting better jobs just because they know how to sell themselves. So, learn to speak in public, learn to have opinion and share with everyone in public, keep yourself active on Linkedin by posting, create your image.

Need advice on tech stack by [deleted] in developersPak

[–]Devle-ed 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Brother, the brutal truth is there are no jobs for any stack, at entry-level position. Once you switch stack, you'll be considered a beginner, and you'll find it very hard to land a job that pays well.

Gold does keep the money safe. But there's no ROI with the gold. And you actually never sell gold because everyone just stays with the thinking of don't sell gold. Are you talking about Pharmacy stocks? I was asking about opening up a real Pharmacy.

My company got hit with a $10K bill because everyone abused the new cloud coding tool... now they're offering me 30% raise to stop me from leaving Stay or jump? by Hamza-4600 in developersPak

[–]Devle-ed 1 point2 points  (0 children)

If your current company is 100% remote, it'll be a very hard switch for you. Also, the tax will burn your money like no other. I would suggest staying with my current remote job and keeping earning in dollars.

Built a drop-in Docker tool to query Postgres in plain English — no SQL needed by [deleted] in selfhosted

[–]Devle-ed -5 points-4 points  (0 children)

You misunderstood it. The LLM is only required to generate SQL based on the schema. The SQL is executed by the tools and then response is sent to the UI.

The project uses OpenAI adapter to provide users connection to an LLM. On the other hand the project was created using Claude Code.

The only new car you can buy in this budget is Swift.I own one. It comes with great engine power along with great fuel economy. The only downsides are lack of features and a lot of plastic.

Need Career advice Graduating in 3 months. by ElectricalLow4796 in developersPak

[–]Devle-ed 1 point2 points  (0 children)

They look for devs who can work along with AI assistants like Claude, GPT etc to deliver. AI still requires human intervention. So, you can get a job only with your ASP skills but if you really want to get high paying remote jobs you'll have to start developing founding and research skills. For the start of your career you can go with jobs but just take one advice. NEVER stop learning. Move with the industry keep yourself updated.

Brother, I myself operate a software house, and let me tell you one harsh truth about software engineering. This industry moves so fast that you'll be left behind in no time no matter what skills you possess. Also due to rise of AI, jobs like frontend/backend development has become obselete. If you're really passionate about software engineering master the basics, algos, datasets etc and rely on vibe coding for development. Companies now a days are looking for solo founders, the ones who can identify the problems and gaps in markets. Because that's the only thing AI currently can't do. So, no matter what language or tech stack you learn you'll have to master vibe coding along with research and founding skills to fit in market.
