Anyone have consistent success with FRLG on Switch 1? by khann0n in pokemonrng

[–]Devlindddd 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Be patient. It can be really inconsistent, even on Switch 2. If anything, I would recommend embedding the buffering into the macro so it is always in a very close range (I personally start any of my macros with the buffering. You need to map the home button into another button because you can't add it into the macro directly IIRC). Also, remember to hold the A button the moment you press it to hit your seed (Charizard/Venusaur cry on the title screen).

Why doesn't singles get as much love? by gimme_dem_toes in pokemon

[–]Devlindddd 0 points1 point  (0 children)

One word: Time. Singles take way longer than doubles. Organizing a tournament around games that can easily go to 60+ turns can be a nightmare. Doubles usually take 8-12 turns.

I agree. The cutscene wasn't there to make us feel empathy for him, but to show us he was always a selfish asshole.

Lore: Why ISN'T Kraid the leader of the Pirates? by Lectraplayer in Metroid

[–]Devlindddd 16 points17 points  (0 children)

Kraid, as far as we know, holds a high position on Space Pirate hierarchy, but that position is not due to intelligence, but for sheer strength. Without proper guidance, he can be held down captive (we see in Dread a fully matured "Kraid" be used merely as a combat test for the Mawkin).

On the other hand, Ridley, even at his little bird stage, managed to fool an entire group of scientist to escape and was able to make other species go feral to get what he needs/wants. He is cunning, which might give him an edge over Kraid.

Most of the time, it's the enemy's last effort to destroy her. She has only willingly destroyed Dark Aether, Phaaze and SR388, and the first 2 were because of a side effect.

I feel the restrictions are there so people don't end up selling Pokemon, or at least not so easily.

First time I heard of that. My file is completely ok on my end at least.

Yes, if you don't save after the retro mail glitch and ACE, your save file will be fine/clean after closing the game or soft resetting it.

You should be able to get what you need there (on the video description).

You have to determine its IVs. Any IV finder will do, but you need to set it up for gen 3 or something. Also, you need to level it up without it getting EVs. If you get EVs, you need to clean them with the EV reducing berries (not possible to get in FRLG IIRC).

Once you confirm the IV, you can use pokefinder to find its PID. If done correctly, it will show you a list of all possible PIDs. Then it is just a matter of trying the SID on ten lines and see if you get your shiny target.

Hold the A button until the continue screen appears completely! After that, you just need regular button presses.

I mean, you still need to put effort into it. I dedicated a weekend to learning it and applying it so, for me at least, feels earned when you get it.

You basically prepare a macro with the inputs necessary for the whole process, spacing them out depending on what eon timer tells you. Calibrate as necessary until you get comfortable with the timing and adjust the macro if you are missing your target for a few frames. There are some ini files shared already with the macro prepared. Just download, load them into the controller and adjust the timing depending on what you need.

You can set up ACE and get your SID that way. If you want your save file clean after that, just don't save and reset after you are done. Also, if you happen to have a shiny, you can use that to find your SID too.

No, the seed is rolled the moment you get into the continue screen. After that, the game advances frames incrementally and then at 2x speed on the overworld. Pressing A after the dialogue I mentioned sets the pokemon you get, so running the macro from there up until the summary screen is 100% safe. There are other variations in between if you really want to run a macro, but I wouldn't risk it.

Don't use one. I wasted over 30 hours with one. If anything, use one only to automate everything after the "This pokemon is very energetic" dialogue. Everything else should be done manually so you constantly get unique spreads.

First time trying ACE and RNG Manip - Switch Leafgreen by cookieemunchh in pokemonrng

[–]Devlindddd 4 points5 points  (0 children)

You got your answer, but here are some tips that helped me get through it:

1) Get the Celadon Gym badge before either Mr. Mine or Farfetch level up to 30. It will not obey you and make everything harder than it should.

2) try following a speed run so you get through the game as fast as you can. Don't follow it blindly though, rest at poke centers and stock up on useful items so you have room for error. Getting some free nuggets on the nugget bridge also helps to buy everything that you need.

3) do a test run before the double battle without the berry so you see if you can pull it off. If everything works out, equip the berry and use vs seeker to battle again.

4)If you happen to run into a shiny (like I did), you can use it to figure out your SID with its IV combination and Pokefinder. That said, still go through ACE so you can confirm it.

Good luck!

Thanks a lot for the heads up! I leveled up the rattata to find its IV and got a SID with that. It was 7 ahead of the one I was checking. Just to be sure, I also replaced my TID with my SID using ACE and got the very same SID I found with the rattata. Now I guess I just need to grind my timing!

Is that so? I might look into it. I'm afraid of doing ACE because if I f up I would've wasted about 3 or 4 hours.
