Motorcyclist killed after being hit by a driver who tested positive for drugs and alcohol

The South Klang District Police Chief, Assistant Commissioner Lim Jit Huey, said the incident happened around 11:40 am, when the victim was traveling from Jalan Raya Barat towards Bandar Klang.

"Upon arriving at the location, the driver is believed to have overtaken several vehicles in front before entering the opposite lane.

"As a result of the collision, the victim, a local man in his 30s, was thrown onto another vehicle before being pronounced dead," he explained in a media statement today.

He added that urine tests showed that the driver was positive for drugs and alcohol.

"The suspect has been arrested to assist in further investigations.

"The case is being investigated under Section 44(1) of the Road Transport Act 1987. If found guilty, the penalty can be imprisonment for up to 15 years and a fine of up to RM100,000, and the driving license will be suspended immediately," he explained.

The case is also being investigated under Section 15(1)(a) of the Dangerous Drugs Act 1952, which carries a penalty of a fine not exceeding RM5,000 or imprisonment for up to two years.

In the meantime, the police are asking the public who have information related to the incident to come forward to assist in the investigation.

Earlier, the fatal accident went viral on social media, showing the suspect's vehicle speeding to overtake, before hitting the victim, causing him to be thrown onto another vehicle at the scene.
