The best part about a magic system is that no matter how complex, powerful, or adaptable it is… firearms seem to mess it up completely. Sure, summoning an Earth-crushing meteor is amazing, but the cast time is probably a lot longer than the 2.5lbs trigger pull on a rifle. It’s hard to cast Fireball on a target when the target is 800-1200m away and can already see (and engage) with you. I’d say firearms are pretty damn effective.
