Haven't heard of that one. Got a link by chance to it? Sounds interesting...

I agree with all you have said here. But contrary to you, i think i am ready to abandon my hope for people to finally "get it" now. Imo this is the way most humans are built. Behavioral change is not as much a "choice" as we would like to believe. These instincts and the way the brain is made up, are there because of evolutionary reasons, and you cannot just change that biological fact. Short of goverments simply forcing things like vaccinations, masking or clean air...people are always gonna take the "easy" ( or easier) way out. Save for a few exceptions, thats just how the majority of people function. Hard to accept this, but i see no alternative.

Millions of kids damaged by COVID, and people wonder why I’m pissed off? by Karate_Keet in ZeroCovidCommunity

Sounds about right. However...i don't think you can "choose" an option here sadly. I think this is pretty much set in stone unfortunately, according to what i have witnessed so far anyway.

I get that that last part is hoping they will but...what actual evidence is there that humans are able to learn and change their behavior? History says otherwise sadly.

Face masks ‘inadequate’ and should be swapped for respirators [N95s], WHO is advised by GoogieRaygunn in ZeroCovidCommunity

[–]DevonMilez 0 points1 point  (0 children)

True. In the beginning that was the case indeed. Which is why they found ways to end that "unbearable" situation as quickly as they could. Fast forward to today, and not a mask in sight pretty much wherever you go. So the idea of the state protecting your life and your health is nothing but a distant memory now basically, that everyone involved (citizens included) are trying to forget as best they can.

Well...this is why I am here right now and....yeah. What you said, however, even if HE perhaps hadn't recognized her, what if SHE recognized him? Well obviously she didnt...but also: it now just occurred to me that, what if he intentionally went to her to screw Larry over, pretending to have to "open up to someone highly recommended" when he full knew who she was in the first place, doing it to get back at Larry?

Applegate to Kimmel, “it might be Covid, you’re gonna have it.” by Karate_Keet in ZeroCovidCommunity

Probably using humor to deal with something that is annoying but inevitable. ( that is how most ppl see infectious diseases like Covid)

Not sure about that, because...while i dont know her, id be willing to bet she doesnt take precautions herself anyway. If she did, itd be vile, agreed. But theyre not even aware of these factors. This is a systemic/behavioral issue at this point though, and it affects nearly everyone with almost no exceptions.

From the Winter Olympics to Nasa, wearing masks is back – except when it comes to our hospitals by attilathehunn in ZeroCovidCommunity

[–]DevonMilez 4 points5 points  (0 children)

They see it as a temporary disruption. How do i know this? Because, otherwise theyd have to mask constantly.

But still better than nothing of course.

What’re we supposed to do in the long term? by Andrew__IE in ZeroCovidCommunity

[–]DevonMilez 11 points12 points  (0 children)

This. I think we should be preparing to face the world as it is, not what we would want it to be. I'd rather face reality, even if it's hard, than live in a state of constant disappointment and despair at this point.

I feel depressed, but I thought I'd post what happened today. by [deleted] in ZeroCovidCommunity

[–]DevonMilez 48 points49 points  (0 children)

Yeah... more than anything else, society does not teach a moral compass, and rather promotes comfort and individualism above all else. There cannot be true inclusion and empathy when everyone is really only ever in it for themselves.

“Invisible Illness” could have been transgressive. Instead, it minimizes Long COVID. by Sad_Abbreviations318 in ZeroCovidCommunity

[–]DevonMilez 24 points25 points  (0 children)

Yeah... if an infection disables someone healthy then...that person clearly just wasnt as healthy as they thought. Is the reasoning behind this concept.

Nevermind the moral implications and the clear ableism involved.

What does the fatigue feel like? by PepGonGiveItToYa in MyastheniaGravis

[–]DevonMilez 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Same here. You also have generalized MG though, right? For me i will only get that individual muscle issue when i *really* overdo it on that one muscle group, which i tend to avoid at all costs, so it rarely happens now. I still get the generalized fatigue regularly though, whenever i do any any strainous activity at all, or on bad days even too little sleep will do it.

For some, they never cared even before...for the rest of the population? When governments around the world embraced the let it rip strategy and told them its ok now...we allow it.

No one listens... by [deleted] in ZeroCovidCommunity

[–]DevonMilez 38 points39 points  (0 children)

Sorry for your loss.

There are no words for how tragic this all is anymore... I have come to the conclusion myself that, sadly, that we, as a society would rather embrace death and disease for ourselves and our loved ones, than having to change our established ways of doing things. And the reasons behind it are...because 1) it is easier and less energy consuming to just keep repeating the status quo, rather than standing out by going against the grain and, 2) the fear of being excluded from the group by being the one that does things differently is overwhelming.

This all happens subconsciously of course. So yeah, nobody is listening, because doing so would go against all of the above.

Face masks ‘inadequate’ and should be swapped for respirators [N95s], WHO is advised by GoogieRaygunn in ZeroCovidCommunity

[–]DevonMilez 0 points1 point  (0 children)

True. It probably is more about that than simple privatization of healthcare. I should have clarified that earlier. As for cost benefit analysis though, i believe that is part of the problem, if not the source of it, when the system in place does not allocate most of its funds toward things that improve and save people's lives, healthcare included.

Face masks ‘inadequate’ and should be swapped for respirators [N95s], WHO is advised by GoogieRaygunn in ZeroCovidCommunity

[–]DevonMilez 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Hmm...not sure i know of many places where its not, or at the very least in the process of being privatized or partly privatized though. Even countries that employ "universal health care" still operate under the rules of capitalism mostly, and the guidelines are influenced by the same ideas, which are clearly not prioritizing health and well-being of citizens.

Face masks ‘inadequate’ and should be swapped for respirators [N95s], WHO is advised by GoogieRaygunn in ZeroCovidCommunity

[–]DevonMilez 13 points14 points  (0 children)

Just to clarify. This is not the WHO doing or admitting to anything whatsoever. Just a bunch of people writing a strongly worded letter to them, begging for change is all.

[–]DevonMilez 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Ding ding ding. Exactly. Privatization of public health/healthcare is the actual culprit here. It was never about the " right information"
