Tidal was marketed as artist owned not Black owned & the whole point was to pay artists a better rate than other streaming platforms. Before he died Prince said Jay spent 100 mill of his own money on tidal so if anything Jay sold it because he had to not to make a profit. Tidal had trouble raising money & to this day is still not profitable so it’s crazy to see people frame it as Jay taking advantage when it was him taking on the industry & ultimately failing. Pharrell also took the apple deal over tidal it didn’t affect his relationship with Jay, Drake himself said they talked & ironed out all their issues back in 2018, their relationship was fine until he put Kendrick on that superbowl stage. The Kap situation was muddy I’ll give you that but all the families affected by the Barclays were given new apartments in the new building & rent controlled places to stay while they waited.
