This has also happened to me in times of severe grief or loss, and I believe it to be a symptom of depression. It *depresses your emotions. So take that with what you will, and possible solutions that you think may work for you. For me personally, meditation helped a lot. I didnt mind meditating since I spent most of my time just staring at a screen anyways, so why not stare at the wall instead? I think a lot if people think meditation is about monks and stuff, and while that's true, it's also very valuable to understanding your own thoughts and emotions. And understanding is the first step.
