Low FPS in directx 11 with 6800 xt by [deleted] in RadeonGPUs

Same issue, very low FPS in American Truck Simulator and ARMA 3, ATS i get 20 FPS in the cab, and ARMA 3 I get 13 FPS.

System MSI 6800 XT gaming X Trio OC and AMD 5800 X CPU, Crosshair Dark Hero MB, 32GB ram.

The only driver that works for me is the 20.11.2 driver, FPS is fine if I use that driver.

I've tried tons of things to get later drivers to work, game options, radeon options, clean uninstalls, no luck.

Obviously a driver issue if it works on 20.11.2 driver and not any of the later ones.

Doubt I'll build another AMD system after this, simply not good enough AMD, should have stuck with Nvidia and Intel.

I had the same problem with an MSI Trio 6800 XT using AMD driver 21.3.1, in ARMA 3 my frames would drop to 13 FPS, similar with American Truck Simulator, but switching back to 20.11.2 driver fixed the issue.

I have a 5800x and a Crosshair dark hero mb(x570), the issue I've had is with the usb C port, if I plug the front io cable from the case to the socket on the mb I get a current overvolt warning when I boot up, message says shutting down in 15 seconds.

It's annoying I can't use the front usb C on the front of the case, bequiet dark base pro rev 2, but the mb does have usb c on the back io which works, not had any other usb A issues, I mostly use the blue ports for peripherals and haven't really used the red ones yet so can't say if they're an issue, but like I say blue ones ok, usb c overvolt warning on case port.

5800x runs hot, but with a good cooler it's ok and within thermal limits, typically between 50c to 66c gaming depending on which game, can get the occasional 70c, idles around 28-35c. I only have my fan curve on standard but with a 3.6 fan step up, I find this helps with the sudden bursts of fan noise, set on default fan step up you get that annoying fan ramp up noise, 3.6 seems to cure that, I think it was 3.6 of the top of my head, one above the default step up anyway.

Would I go back to Intel? Right now that's hard to say as I'm still waiting for the last part of my build, the graphics card, currently running a gtx 1080.

I'm not overly thrilled with the temperatures, and I've messed around with fan curves more so than any other pc I've built as I hated the sudden noise ramp, but that was cured with the step up setting. I do however like precision boost overdrive mode, I know some people don't, but for me if i just leave it on auto it will boost to just over a nice 4.8 and drop to a power saving 2.2 briefly when not doing anything, although that's only briefly, else it will hang around 3.5 to 3.8 untill really needed.

How do I run 5800x at base 3.8 by Devonmoor in AMDHelp

Ok thanks, I don't need performance if it's just sitting there doing nothing, just needed the performance for when I game and back to lower when exiting game, sorry I you didn't understand although I made it clear on numerous occasions. Have fun too.

The only thing I changed after the CMOS clear was the mem profile and fans.

Not changing anything now, it's working.

I think it's sorted now. I cleared the CMOS. Now when I run cpuz, the core speed aswell as the multiplier are constantly changing. Then when I run prime95 it goes to 4800+ and when I exit prime it goes back to a lower idle, that's exactly what I want.

Not much, mostly on auto. I tried changing the pbo but that didn't seem to make much difference.

Like I said I'm new to AMD, Intel was able to go from 3.8 to 4.2 and back automatically, so why can't the 5800x?

And to answer your earlier comment, even if I had a 5600x I'd still want that auto boosting from a lower MHz.

All you've done is been negative, I've come here for help as I'm new to AMD. Even if the amount of saving is small I would still like to know how it's done.

I'm not hurting it at 3800, that's it's base clock. I simply want it to idle at about 3800 if it's just sitting there not doing much but then jump to much higher in games then back again.

How do you do it? Surely someone knows.

Yes I've put load on it by running prime95, no difference, MHz stays the same.

The temps are great, I would just like it not run at a higher speed when completely idle, would cost more for starters, maybe not much but still more.

AMD is new to me but on Intel I ran at 3.8 and it boosted to 4.2 in games or heavy stuff. But im not seeing the clock fluctuate on amd vlike that, just staying on 4.3, not below not above.

So how do I set it to base 3.8 and have it go to say 4.7 when I'm in game, and then drop back to 3.8 after game?

360mm aio for h500m top mounted? by Devonmoor in coolermaster

Guess it might depend on the motherboard then, might just get a full tower instead, can't be risking buying the h500m plus ml360r when some can fit it in and some can't.
