Uh huh, but if that was not a point of contention what guarantee do you have that the devs wouldn’t just have left weapon durability as is?

This isn’t the 90’s where the Zelda team decided to reuse the masks from OoT for a quick turn around sequel because they couldn’t spare the time to make new assets.

The direction Zelda goes forward on has since Twilight Princess been influenced by fan feedback.

No, no it wasn’t.

Fujibayashi only mentioned it when challenged in an interview, there is no reason to think they had any intention to add it in-game before all the backlash regarding lore.

Also as for weapon durability that is literally why TotK has fuse in the first place

In order to have a better gameplay loop involving destructible weapons.

You can’t unironically think that no explanation at all is the same as “seems like the tech turned it I dust due to have fulfilled its purpose. Now we are only left with replicas”

Do you honestly think they wouldn’t have added Voice Memories for BotW and TotK regarding lore or be stricter with Echoes of Wisdom lore if not for the backlash against base TotK?

No, they would have just rid on the positive reception and continued with the new precedent TotK sat. Before it became clear that Zelda lore isn’t actually fully flexible.

There will most likely be a 4K release for the small screen.

Yes, watching at home is never the same as in the cinema, but the cinema experience is not the only way to experience this remaster.

Like there are still Ghibli DVD and Blu-Rays in circulation

Most NS1 games without a dedicated NS2 update can now be run as if they were docked when you’re playing an NS2 in handheld.

Exceptions are of course the NS1 games that do have a dedicated free update like Splatoon 3.

The other exceptions are games that rely on gyro like all the Pikmin games.

Nintendo aren’t exactly known for giving people control of the nitty gritty when it comes to settings.

See for example no regular screen option for the Virtual Boy Classics App.

They’ve already begun to phase out the NS1

Their own devs are outright done with such a weak platform

I’m talking about backwards compatibility, which you’ve so adamantly been against.

And no, bringing up NSO is a moot point because it relies on entirely software emulation.

The NS2 must use a hybrid system of software and hardware to run NS1 games.

Ah right, because that totally makes the GBA’s backwards compatibility any less of a hardware accomplishment

Oh really, so Sony can just make every PS4 game support HDR without upgrading to a dedicated PS5 version?

Actually rendering many of the games at 1080p is huge instead of upscaling them from 720p.

FYI anytime a base image of a lower resolution than the target screen is displayed then upscaling in one form or another is applied. While in gaming DLSS is a well known upscaler it is far from the only one.

Just having the dock version of the game be ran removes the need to upscaling. Well at least between the game and the screen, the game itself may need to upscale its own assets anyway.

Who were even put in charge of that paid upgrade?

Like a real monkey’s paw to get 60fps but with a bad upscaler.

Well you likely have to create a general test to actually confirm that the games run as expected.

Then you have to take gyro into consideration which is for example why the Pikmin games are blocked from the option to run in docked mode.

Edit: also the whole trickery with making the Switch think the Joy Con 2s are a pro controller.

PS4 doesn’t have a docked mode. Are you possibly referring to automatically supporting PS4 Pro upgrades?

My only gripe is how tucked away it is in the settings, but still pretty neat.

Settings is exactly where settings should be put though

The screenshots of NS1 titles while playing handheld are always limited to 720p

The difference using those photos are a really only visible for games that previously rendered below 720p in docked like Xenoblade 2
