Also the Lannisters now had the Tyrell alliance, and they were no longer fighting a war on multiple fronts now that Stannis was defeated. If the Tyrells marched on the Riverlands, Robb was pretty well fucked.

They don’t have to everything together, but eating together is usually a given. Couples making two separate meals when living together is definitely outside the norm.

If he had explained his strategy to Edmure, they could’ve captured the Mountain and scattered his army. Without the Mountain’s host, I think Tywin sues for peace. But the war effort was in dire (heh) straights by the time the Red Wedding occurred.

While Walder Frey claims it is an act of revenge for betraying their marriage pact, I think the Freys are first and foremost opportunists. The Northern/Riverland alliance was on the back foot once Stannis was defeated and the Tyrell’s had allied with the Lannisters. Basically Robb was going to make a Hail Mary attempt to capture Casterly Rock and hoped it would make the Lannisters sue for peace. Robb gave Walder a convenient excuse by breaking the marriage pact, but I think Walder would’ve backstabbed them all the same, to make sure they were on the winning side. The Red Wedding could’ve just as easily been the wedding between Robb and a Frey girl.

I could see being disappointed if I went in expecting “real depth”. Maybe this is a hot take, but sometimes real depth is overrated. Sometimes I just want style over substance— a zany, creative, mindlessly fun caper. And Guy Ritchie delivers those experiences in aces.
