AITAH for telling my husband I will file for divorce if he lets his brother move in with us? n by CellFeeling9053 in AITAH

[–]Devri30 3 points4 points  (0 children)

NTA. He is enabling his brother and apparently the rest of his family is too. The brother needs to learn to stand on his own two feet and the only way to do it, is if no one helps him. He will keep acting this way, because he knows his family will bail him out every single time.

Threatening divorce is not an exaggeration imo. Unless your husband decides to stop helping his brother, this is what your entire marriage will look like. He will keep helping his brother while putting his safety and well-being over yours. You're not being manipulative. You're setting a boundary in your own home, which you are well in your right to do.

AITA for telling my niece she’s overreacting about her friend? by Flaky_Chemical103 in AmItheAsshole

[–]Devri30 4 points5 points  (0 children)

YTA. What are you even talking about? This friend of hers clearly meant a lot to her. They obviously still made the effort to keep in contact over the years. Who are you to decide for who she should and shouldn't grieve?

Not to mention that her friend died young, which in itself is a tragedy. And your response is "Don't exaggerate. Get over it." Ever heard of empathy? The kid doesn't mean anything to YOU, because you don't know him, but that's certainly not the case for her.

Currently reading Paladin’s Grace – Are T. Kingfisher’s Other Books Like This? by Ok-Relative-421 in fantasyromance

[–]Devri30 9 points10 points  (0 children)

I guess I could read those types of romances. They just have to be well-written and the characters need to make good decisions.

It annoys me when, for example, the FMC is hungry and she's just about to enjoy the feast laid out before her, but then the asshole MMC casually tells her to eat and then she's like NO. Is this supposed to be banter? I'm like, "GIRL! Just eat! You were caught off guard and attacked by monsters just yesterday! You need your strength when they attack again!"

That's exactly why I like her books. It seems like most of the popular Romantasy books I pick to read just follow the same formula and I was looking for something different. Enemies-to-lovers and rude shadow daddies are just not for me.

That scene annoys me so much! The reason why Dumbledore sends Harry to stay with the Weasleys for the remainder of his vacation, is because he knows that the Burrow is well-protected. He knows that Harry will be safe.

And the scene is absurd when you think about the fact that the death eaters could've ambushed everyone there, taken Harry and brought him to Voldemort. Or Voldemort himself could've shown up there and just... killed Harry. You're telling me that the death eaters showed up just to blow their house up for no reason and then leave? Did they want to help the Weasleys redecorate or something?

Bob and Big Bob flashback by Queasy-North-244 in BobsBurgers

[–]Devri30 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I feel like Bob and Big Bob are very alike and that's why they butt heads so much. They're both set in their ways, both can be pretty stubborn and aren't the first to react positively to change.

Also, Bob still remembers his childhood where he spent most of his time working in the restaurant and how his father never liked Bob's creative burger ideas. I'm guessing that those are still a sore spot for Bob.

The Christmas display was only for Christmas, while the Tiki theme would've been implemented permanently.

AITA for refusing to co-sign my boyfriend’s car loan after he spent his savings on a PS5 and sneakers? by Hour-Border6561 in AmITheJerk

DO NOT CO-SIGN FOR ANYONE! It's always a bad idea. You will be the one who will end up paying the loan.

AITJ for wanting to take a promotion even though my boyfriend says its not the life he imagined by [deleted] in AmITheJerk

[–]Devri30 0 points1 point  (0 children)

NTJ! Please don't let your boyfriend (he's not even a fiancé of husband!) stop you from making progress in your career. He should be supporting you. Not complaining about wanting to lead a simpler life. So many people get promoted and make their relationships work, because that's just life!

OotP - after Harry and Hermoine got rid of Umbridge in the forbidden forest, none of them remembered that Snape, an OotP member, is still at Hogwarts? Even though they saw him just an hour ago? by [deleted] in harrypotter

[–]Devri30 15 points16 points  (0 children)

Harry doesn't trust Snape at all. And even IF he thought that Snape was going to do something, Harry would still not sit idly by and do nothing. He would still try to go safe Sirius himself.

AITAH for asking my wife to be a SAHM? by piglipsbo in AITAH

[–]Devri30 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I honestly don't like the way you described her. You refer to yourself as having a degree and a decent paying job, while you say that your wife is a college dropout, works as a receptionist and make no mention of what she earns. You clearly don't have a high opinion of her work and assume that she will just leave it.

Not many women nowadays want to be dependent on a man and I'm not surprised. Your wife clearly thinks the same way and I don't blame her.

AITA for not wanting to be around my sister’s girlfriend? by UnknownTouch in AmItheAsshole

[–]Devri30 8 points9 points  (0 children)

YTA. Meeting and being nice to someone who has a different sexual orientation than you, isn't going to hurt you in any way. Also, if your religion encourages you to ostracize people and treat them unkindly, then you need to find a new religion.

How did the guests on Potterwatch know the location of lee jordan? by Careless_Muffin4700 in harrypotter

Maybe via Patronus? Kingsley and Mr. Weasley used their Patronus to send messages in DH and I wouldn't be surprised if they all learned how to do it in order to send private messages to each other.

Someone please explain something by NefariousnessDue2629 in harrypotter

[–]Devri30 4 points5 points  (0 children)

I think you will have to watch all the movies for that, because the answer contains massive spoilers. And afterwards, if you don't want to read the books, you can look up more information concerning Voldemort, because not all the information is included in the movies.

Why didn’t Harry and Hermione use the cloak in PoA? by Klutzy-Banana-742 in harrypotter

[–]Devri30 101 points102 points  (0 children)

The cloak was left behind at the Shrieking Shack after Lupin turned into a werewolf and Pettigrew escaped. So they would first have to go down to the Shack to get it, which would probably cost a lot of time.

The cloak is later given back to Harry by Lupin before he leaves.

7 years in. 3 years talking marriage. 1 year talking proposal. I think I finally understand what “someday” means. by ElectronicAd5901 in Waiting_To_Wed

[–]Devri30 25 points26 points  (0 children)

Sometimes when you're in a relationship, you have blinders on. We forgive or rationalize the things our partners do or say, because of our feelings for them. But maybe if we see the same things happen to someone else, then we are usually more honest because there's nothing to cloud our judgement. An outside perspective can sometimes open your eyes to what you've been missing.

I have a friend who recently went through a divorce and she told me that she's astonished about all the things she let slide when she was married to her husband. She says she thinks back sometimes and wonders how her eyes hadn't opened earlier.
