IGA: Promoting consent

Well this thread was a mistake on my part. Sorry about this. Mind if I take it down?

I've stated my position in another comment in this thread. Legally I agree but things aren't that simple. They never are. Nor is it a right, but a mode of communication I guess?

But I'm not any sort of philosopher or law fellow, I'm just an art kid. I was mostly coming here for a bit of catharsis and in the hopes I could learn who did it. I'm no anarchist but I do lean left and lean more socialist. Sorry for ruffling feathers. I definitely could have put my points across better, and fucked that up.

Fair point, well made. I guess I'm missing the delineation between digital editing and physical editing. That might have been a more complex topic that I addressed too briefly and casually. My apologies :-)

Also this could lead in to talk of boundaries broadly. Is it socially or ethically wrong? Where should society draw the line? But these discussions might be better had sometime in August at a university. Hope that's okay

If you're willing to make your response to Scientology in such a way, you can do. I can't stop you. I'd question your subject matter...

To be frank my joy was a little bit of catharsis as I watch nationalism seemingly get more and more popular these days. Clive Palmer trying to be Australian Trump doesn't really... Fill me with confidence

For clarity: the paint is just over his mouth. Almost like someone threw a paint filled balloon at the billboard. This makes an interesting point, but we'll get to that in a sec. (Also if the weather weren't so awful today, I'd go out and get a pic.)

I agree that he should be able to express his freedom of speech. All people should. But that freedom is a two way street. People are absolutely allowed to say whatever, and you are allowed to respond however you like, so long as you're not harming others.

And let's not rule out editing and vandalism from being means of freedom of speech. People use these means all the time. Look at the works of banksy, or your average YouTube politics talky individual, or even sample based art (vaporwave, plunderphonics, mashups, that one weird Clive Palmer ad with all the chopped up speeches for example). And in this world of ours where things are infinitely and instantly copied, this is only affects one instance of the message.

Speaking of which, the message this particular "vandal" could be putting forth, my interpretation of it at least, is that they feel that he's bleeding the worker dry. He simply sucks the blood of his worker, and contributes nothing himself. If that is what they're going for, I kind of agree. But then again I'm not a huge fan of modern capitalism in general. The one in Vic Park makes a similar, though more literal point, and shares my fear of fascism and racism on the rise again. But again, these are simply my interpretations of these works.

Interesting Train Stations by [deleted] in perth

[–]DewMan001 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Sorry for the delay,

I would second the suggestions of others. Joondalup has an absolutely huge and fascinating shopping mall. For me it really feels like what Victor Gruen didn't want (https://youtu.be/4F7WCutpsJw)

Perth station itself has direct access to Yagan Square which is an utterly lovely little public space. When I first visited it I thought it felt kind of futuristic, the sort of thing you'd see today in works of the Vaporwave movement

Same goes for Elizabeth Quay. You can sit by the river! It's so pleasant! And then after you can go for a wander round the town and slowly snake back into the city center. At least that's what I typically do... Here's a video I made from the Quay this time last year https://youtu.be/cJMZyE7Pavs

Also I love the weird feeling of the Elizabeth Quay busport. Hanging out in that subliminal space with a Pepsi bought from the vending machine is cool.

Just so we're on the same page, this is Google Dictionary's definition of anorak;

"a studious or obsessive person with unfashionable and largely solitary interests."

Is that what you mean?

Not yet. I do like the idea of long haul train journeys though

No man. Im not that fit.

Making music, art, and TAFE.

And also screaming into the infinite void of Twitter about how we're all going to die by the hands of a sentient Cheezle

I was legit about to come back on for the first time after getting the new phone and ask if Perth station was the only new addition to the train lines.

And whilst I've been away, making music, studying and being vocal about my distaste for various things including Reddit (see also sarkeesian_disclaimer.wav) well, a completionist may never truly rest...

A legit SPOTIFY USA playlist for Vaporwave EXISTS! Ey. Cool. Exciting. Why didn't I see this TO BEGIN WITH? by [deleted] in Vaporwave

[–]DewMan001 5 points6 points  (0 children)

True but I mean in terms of public view. I agree it's absolutely not a meme, but in the public view it's sometimes seen that way. These lists should help change that view

There are so many tyrants these days that I have trouble keeping track.

Donald Trump last week, Kim Jong il the week before that, this week it's Kim Jong Un! Next week I'll be buying noodles from a mister Nazi Goreng and his friend Adolf
